Aid For Dependent Children, or AFDC, is a federally funded, and usually state or county administered, welfare assistance program that provides supplemental aid to qualifying households that include one or more minor children.

Question: Is it legal to use cash grant money from AFDC to purchase a car? someone we know went to her social worker and said she lost her job which was two months ago, already applied for AFDC. They told her she already had $2300.00 her her books and gave her $2000.00 which she then purchase a 90'ish mini van.
