Black Market Adoptions
This term refers to adoptions that do not conform to the established state and federal laws that regulate adoption, and which usually involve the payment of large sums of money to an adopted child's birth parents, an adoption attorney, an adoption facilitator, an adoption agency, or another intermediary, in order to avoid provisions of the law. In many cases, all participants in a black market adoption may be subject to criminal prosecution, as well as there being a possibility that the child will be taken away from the involved adoptive parents and placed for adoption with another set of adoptive parents.
Question: HElp!!! i need help finding a video off the internet about black market adoption or selling babies!? I need to find a news reel or a clip about a documentary for my presentation. It can be about black market adoption. I have been trying to find some for a while but cant find any. PLease help me =)))
Answer: What about 'Unsolved Mysteries"
I know that a black market adoptee named Joe Soll has been featured on there several times. I think it was sold by NY Baby Seller Bessie Bernard. Contact him at Adoption Crossroads
Also search for clips on baby seller Georgia Tann and butterbox babies
Question: Has anyone else been a child of a black market adoption? If so, tell me your story, please.
Answer: My mother was told I died at three days old
Fast forward 30-odd years and she manages to obtain the 'relinquishment' paperwork she supposedly 'signed' = totally falsified AND on a date (weeks after my 'death') that she can prove she was thousands of miles away in another State!
Don't know if that is black market but it sure isn't ethical
Question: Illegal adoption, black market babies report? i have to do a report on how illegal adoptions (black market babies) like where they take place (specific cities) who would participate in that crime and how it didnt just take place back in then.
thanks, but i mean nowadays like in 2009
Answer: I just did a google and came up with a bunch of stuff. Just change the manner in which you search. Add the word 'who' or 'what countries' and stuff pops up.
One site had this info :
Cole babies, Hicks babies, Bessie babies, Dr. Mary babies, Butterbox babies, and Springer babies – these are just a few of the known groups of black market babies
Question: How can I get my child back after he was adopted through a black market adoption? I adopted my son out in dec 2009. But they just now signed the adoption papers on march 15,2010. This was my first adoption I was going through post partum depression at the time. I was told that once I sign over my parental rights they will pay me $4,000. I spoke with an attorney and I was told that's called buying a baby and my affidavit was not voluntary. I need help to get my son back.
Answer: Ok, not to be mean...but....
You want your baby back because you didn't receive the $4,000 that you sold him for? I'm sorry but a mother that would sell her child for $4,000 is not a mother. I hope this baby is being taken care of by someone who loves him but it seems to me that he's not because this couple also values his life at $4,000. Poor child all the way around.
Question: How do I find my sister that was put up for adoption in 1949 or 1950? I am looking for my sister (we think it was a girl) that was put up for adoption from the Gettins Clinic in Odessa, Texas the end of 1949 or the beginning of 1950! She might not even know that she was adopted. Know anything about black market adoptions?
Answer: I would begin by contacting the Adoption agency where she/he was adopted.
If you have his/her DOB, Case #, Parents full names and DOB's it might help.
There are also places where you can sign up on the WWW and they will do the searching for you.
I was adopted over 60 yrs ago and am still looking for my birth mother.
Note: If this was a closed adoption then you will have to go thru a "Probate Court" to have the file opened, and that takes time and money.
I wish you much luck.
PS - I found no listing on the web for the Gettins Clinic in Odessa, TX. It could still be there but under a different name.
Question: Survey: How much do you think black market babies cost in Mexico? Is it cheaper than the adoption process?
Well, nose picker, it's a joke so get over it homeboy.
Answer: $45
Question: For adoptive parents, would you want to know whether or not your child was part of a black market baby ring? As adoptive parents and prospective adoptive parents, you are part of the "market" for adoption. You help drive the industry. With what is happening in Guatemala and in other countries, scamming occurs. I have known several adoptive parents online who have been ripped off by adoption agencies. Wouldn't this be part of adoption reform for you? How would you feel if you knew that your children were kidnapped? Or if your child's natural mother was being forced to reproduce for this type of market? What would you do if you found out that the natural mother wanted to raise her child but was forced to put her child up for adoption? What changes are you willing to do to make this change occur?
It does happen here in the United States as well. LDS Social Services does it all the time. A Child's Waiting does it too. One attorney in Florida guarantees mothers don't change their minds. There is a least fifteen stories going on right now with natural parents. There is not a way to check out an agency in most states.
SK you made me laugh. I don't mean to discourage you. I just want you to make an ethical decision.
Answer: Considering we did a private adoptin, so the whole waiting and looking for a baby thing didn't apply to us, but if it had I would deffinately like to know. Not knowing how the expectant mother was treated is why we didn't search for a baby, but were just open to adopt, should it be needed. (never thought it would actually happen).
Question: Why do pro-abortion people (rightly) denounce the holocaust, but they advocate the holocaust of millions of? the unborn through the murder of abortion. And don't feed me that line about how conservatives don't care about the child after they are born. There are literally hundred of thousands of people every year who can not have children and would adopt if there were children to adopt. That is one of the reasons for the black market for adoption of babies. So if you are irresponsible enough to spread your legs, then you think you have the right to murder a child?
Answer: an excuse for an irresponsible lifestyle and loose morals
Question: how do i change my name my name back to my birth name with out a lawyer? my name is mike when i was taken from my mom when i was three years old and i was put up for what you call black market adoption so i was given a new a new name a new social security number and my birth records were destroyed
Answer: hey my name is mike too!
Question: Why are McCain supporters so clueless? ? I list the ridiculous comments somebody posted about McNasty and my response:
He supports winning the war on terror in which includes making tough choices: NOT--The war in Iraq is not "the war on terror" but that fact is too much for you to absorb and I don't have the time here nor the space to break it down for you.
2) He believes that taxes should be lower, but once voted for a tax cut that was less than that offered by Bush or even Kerry because of the "war" realizing that Americans should have to make a sacrifice in a time of war. NOT--Obama wants to rewrite the tax code, EVERYBODY making less than 250,000 will pay less--McCain, who lives in 7 houses his wife owns, thinks the "rich" his definition of that is over 5 million, shouldn't pay any more so your "sacrifice" story is bogus
3) He's pro-life Nifty term--he wants to regulate women's bodies
4) He will simply adoption procedures and try to limit government interference thus reducing the black market in adoptions HUH?
5) He gives 28% to charity while Barack Obama gives <1% and Obama only gave more the last two years to "look good," thus who really is for African Americans NOT Where do you get this crap?
6) He believes in personal responsibility and doesn't believe the gvt should be a welfare state that will bankrupt it. NOT And you're saying here you have evidence that Obama doesn't believe in personal responsibility? He's given a lot of speeches that indicates otherwise. Again, where do you get his crap?
7) He has substantial experience in foreign policy. Oh, because he was locked up in a foreign country? Obama has Biden now. Enough said.
8) He is modest when he said he didn't understand the economy. He was honest. For once. He doesn't know ****!
9) Last, but not least, McCain is a loser who lives off his wife, in other words, a gigolo, and he was sleeping with the rich one while married to a woman--the mother of his children--who was disfigured in a car wreck. Real moral character there.
Answer: Isn't it past your bedtime. You have school in the morning.

Question: If elective abortions became illegal in the near future, what will happen to the USA economy? I think so many kids will be abandoned in dumpsters and alleys or neglected and abused. Perhaps sold on the adoption Black Market. I think women will be at an economical disadvantage more so than men.
*I am losing faith in humanity one answer at a time to answer your question.
* I am glad someon noticed there was an economical perspective attached to the question. Even though his assumptions are incorrect.
*Fofodos-look at the bigger picture. Pregnant women and infants need health care. Food, clothing, and shelter for potential children that the mother abandons will probably lead to institutions to house them which costs taxpayers money. Welfare costs for mothers that decide to keep them. Childcare expenses. New laws being passed. etc...Millions of abortions are performed each year. Avg. cost of one is $550.00
Answer: You don't really think much of your fellow man do you?
Question: As a pro-lifer how viable do you view adoption as an option for a pregnant woman in distress? a.Given that most adoptions take place black market style.
b. The lack of available p.a.p.s.
c. The reluctance by many to adopt a baby of different ethnicity coupled by the opposition of racial identity groups. To be fair I'm providing a link on this part because its not exclusively an issue of whites only wanting to adopt white babies. There are actually minority political groups who go out of the way to make it difficult.
http://msass.case.edu/faculty/vgroza/stu…
As a pro-lifer what are your thoughts on this? Is this option really as available as many make it seem?
If there's anything I'm missing or wrong about feel free to point it out. I'm not looking for amens or echos on this one.
Thanks.
Thanks BEC- p.a.p= potential adoptive parent (that qualifies)
Answer: I mean to present as one of several options. I'm well aware of all the problems with adoptions. I recommend using emergency contraception first. If you get pregnant try for adoption. If adoption doesn't work you can use safe surrender law and turn your child over to a safe haven. They'll place him/her in foster care which is better than nothing.
Question: Do people adopt "black girls" and "asian boys" ? So on Oprah, she had this family that adopt children from Africa. All of the kids are African boys.
When American Family adopt from Asia, most of them are Asian girls.
Incidentally, these adoptions also fits into the racial social hierarchy in America that placed "Asian boys" and "Black girls" at the lowest. You can see this in the media, where Asian women and Black men are over represented. But it is not true for "black women" "Asian men"
This also reflects in the dating and marriage market, where black women are the most single group in American, and then Asian men.
Do anyone see this trend?
Please thumb down all racist stereotypical comment. STOP being obsessed with Asian penis. WTF is wrong with you people.
Answer: I know a white family that adopted 6 sisters from Africa. So I think your theory is a bust.
Question: how to find a good adoption agency that you are sure is legit? my hub and i would like to adopt within the USA, we have heard so many horror stories, we don't know where to start? we are new to this, do you suggest an adoption agency or hiring a lawyer? the financial part we can handle so the money isn't a problem.....we just don't want someone to take our money and run or get mixed up in an illegal black market baby thing.......
thank you to all who answer :))
Answer: All adoption agencies are corrupt. Think about it. They are selling tiny human beings. If they were selling adults it would be called human trafficking. Since these tiny babies have no voice, they are used as a commodity and these criminal acts continue to be perpetrated. As a fellow human being, you should not be financing this. What child wants to know that they were purchased by his/her parents? That his adoptive parents financed the abrupt loss of his natural parents and heritage.
Adopt from foster care where children genuinely need a home and their families have already been separated without your wallet participating. Do not use an agency or private facilitator who will profit from coercing a newborn from the arms of a naive young woman, and profit from the sale of flesh.
Question: Wouldn't it be more productive to work together on abortion? Nobody likes abortion. So wouldn't it make more sense to stop focusing on the disagreement on how to stop abortion and start focusing on eliminating the demand by reducing unwanted pregnacy, providing better health care and more adoption options?
Furthermore who really thinks a ban on abortion would accomplish more than producing a black market? How do you suppose such a ban could be enforced?
I'm just sayin'.
Answer: i totally agree with you.....but those who are for abortion are those who think they can just have the fun part and not deal with the responsibility... as for me... if you think you are responsible enough to have sex you are responsible enough to have a child. now weather or not you can take care of the child does not give you the right to terminate a pregnancy. its called adoption..... the only way i can see abortion even as a slight option is if the baby were going to die from being born, if the pregnancy was a threat to the mothers health, or in cases of rape..... but i totally agree with you on all parts.... but i do feel that if we ban abortion women will find more ways, more dangerous ways to have an abortion done.....
Question: Do adoptees pay for babies? Watching the trailer for the movie, "Juno," inspired this question. If you're unfamiliar with it, a pregnant teen sees an ad for a couple wanting a baby in the Pennysaver paper. I've seen similar ads in our local Advertiser - it's a little odd, right in there with the used furniture ads. Couples who adopt babies only pay for medical expenses, right? Legit adoptions, of course - not the black market. It seems a little wrong that the mother doesn't get more compensation - she's giving up her child, which is a really hard thing to do. I'm not pregnant, but once I had a scare, and thought if I was preg, I'd consider adoption. Though, I don't know if I could go through with it. It seems like such a hard thing to go through and be left with nothing. Not that money would make it easier to bear, but maybe more women would consider adoption if they were compensated for it. Many women who give up their babies don't have much, and it seems like they should get something. I'd want an open adoption
so I could at least make sure my baby would be getting a good home. Do women who give up their babies get any compensation besides the medical expenses?
Sunny, I agree. Babies already ARE a commodity! Family law firms are in business because of it. It's unfair that everyone benefits except for the birth mother. I don't think giving the mother more would cause an outbreak of women giving birth for the money. I sure wouldn't go through pregnancy for that, personally.
Answer: From Lisa E:
"Sometimes they get living expenses while pregnant, but anything more WOULD be 'selling' the baby. If adoptive parents paid more...just imagine how many heartless, greedy idiots would run out and get pregnant on purpose, so they could have their living expenses paid for 9 months...medical expenses taken care of AND get compensation as if having babies was her job?"
And could these women stay in business without customers, Lisa?
I imagine there would be a line miles long with prospective adoptive parents with blank checks ready to buy. I goes both ways.
Who's kidding whom? People DO buy children, here and overseas. It's just that the mother (victim) doesn't get the money, the agencies and attorneys do.
Don't tell me that home studies cost 20-30K.
Question: Question about the marketing of adoption as it relates to race? All of the advertisements, articles, billboards, etc. feature a conventional looking white couple who are adopting or fostering a child of another race (usually of African or Asian descent). Why is this the standard look of adoption?
Why not show an African American couple with a caucasian baby? Or an Asian couple with an Hispanic child? Even the pics of gay adoptive couples are typically white...how about a photo of a gay black couple going to an orphanage in Russia to pick up their adoptee?
Answer: I find marketing of adoption unethical in general: it makes adoption seem natural *gag*
The "standard look of adoption" also includes ponies and swimming pools; it's not like "all adoptions."
While I agree that they should have more diversity in the ads, adoption is also meant to be about the child, not the parents.

Question: DOES THE DHR AND ADOPTION AGENCEYS? DO DHR AGENCIES HAVE ANY THING TO DO WITH ADOPTION OF CHILDREN OR ARE THEY SEPARATE.LIVED IN SALVATION HOME UNWED MOMS.DHR WAS THERE WHEN I SIGNED PAPERS.COULD THIS HAVE BEEN BLACK MARKET?
Answer: No. DHR is in many states is part of the state children and family services. In other states Children and family services is a separate entity. And yes they are the children and family services dept. in your state. Not here though.
Question: why do adopters feel they are entitled to a baby just because they cant reproduce?? http://www.exiledmothers.com/speaking_ou…
Open adoption is a SCAM. if you are pregnant, PLEASE i PLEAD with you.. do NOT DO IT. Do not let these people buy a baby on the black market. Things might not be ok for you right now finacially, or the father might not be around and you are scared.. PLEASE.. know this is not a permanent state of being. In 2 years (well after your supposed open adoption was over and done with) your life will be so much better. The people you didnt think you could count on will be behind you 100%.
I know this is not a popular subject- especially with the legal black market baby buyers claiming they "know how you feel" but someone please tell me why does an adopter have an inherant right to raise a child?? Why do adopters think its ok to convince a mother that the child is better off NOT being with his mother, but raised by strangers who claim them? im not sorry if i offend you. I dont really care what you have to say.
but someone please tell me why does an adopter have an inherant right to raise a child??
I guess none of you are adopted then? I have first hand experience being taken from my mother.. I have every right to ask others who feel the same as me, their opionion. TYVM.
Ok.. well if any mother reads this maybe she will get it that open does NOT mean open, and do research.. I HAD A OPEN adoption, asked for my natural mother and was denied by my adopter.
Do research then spread the word that adoption should be ILLEGAL. Tx all! you have validated my statement and I hope a pregnant mother reads this and see's the pain an adopted child went through.
ttual.
ps.. money does NOT MAKE YOU A BETTER PARENT> LOVE DOES. Its a BIG MISTAKE. PLEASE DONT LET SOMEONE TAKE YOUR BABY. You will forever have a black hole in your heart, a yearning to know a child that was coerced from you with promises of a better life. How will you ever know?? Reconsider. money is not the end all. There are programs for you- yes- even if you are underage. Your child will love you for choosing to love him no matter what tough times you had.
www.msn.groups/antiadoptiontruth
I do care what you are all saying.. im saying I dont want to hear an adopter pleading with me to change my mind. I ran out of room.
Have a good one.
Answer: If you were adopted and had a bad experience with
adoptive parents, or were forced to place a child for adoption and you did not want that - I am very sorry.
But the fact is that "natural" parents who are having
their first baby have no more "inherant right" to raise a
child than an adoptive family.
You show me a teenage couple that is totally "ready" to
assume the responsibility of another human being, and I
will show you statistics showing that they are a TINY
minority of people their age.
Don't get me wrong! I believe, like you, that the best
outcome for a child is, the majority of cases, to be
raised by the birth parents. AND there is a lot of
support out there for people who want to keep their baby -
even if their own family/friends/ other close support
people are trying to pressure for adoption.
There are, unfortunately, many situations where this
is not the best outcome. There are thousands of
people who have had multiple children and should have been
stopped before they had the first because they are not
psychologically or morally stable enough to care
for a human being. Physical, Psychological, sexual, and
ritual abuse are still rampant in our county.
To take the narrow veiw that you have stated, is to
condemn the children of these un-fit parents to a life of
torture, shame, and very likely starting a cycle of the
same behaviors that can last for generations.
What is the answer?
1. The adoption system needs to be strictly regulated to
insure that every opportunity to facilitate the baby
staying with the birth parents is exhausted before
adoption is even considered as an option.
2. If the situation is such that adoption is the only
option, the moral, psychological, legal, background
of prospective adoptive parents must take ABSOLITE
precidence over their ability to pay fees, (which
should be limited to REASONABLE compensation to
agencies/lawyers/doctors/etc. for the services
required to handle the paperwork and investigation of
adoptive families and NEVER any type of payments to
natural parents for adoption.
In this day and age, where science is making it easy, and society is making it acceptable to just kill unwanted unborn children. We should look for every opportunity to make sure that every child has the opportunity to have a loving and supportive family.
