Form I-600 And Form I-600A Visa Petitions

A set of forms used to officially request permission from the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) to classify a child in a foreign country, who fits the definition of an "orphan," as an immediate relative of its intended adoptive parents, so that there can be an expedited processing and issuance of a visa to that child, allowing it to be brought into the United States, either after having been adopted abroad, or in order for it to be adopted in the United States.

Question: My sponsor is my Aunt & she's a US citizen. ? 1) Does she need to fill out BOTH the immigration visa petition & affidavit of support? Is the petition\affidavit form available online? 2) How do i apply for an immigrant visa? Do I walk-in or make an appointment? And could you describe the process? 3) What documents must I bring? How many copies should I make? 4) What's the difference between I-130 & I-600\I-600A? Thks a lot.

Answer: You Aunt cannot sponsor you for immigration to the US. It needs to be a direct relative: parent, sibling or spouse. Your Aunt can provide the affidavit of support but you need a more direct family member to sponsor you.
