Identifying Information
Information about birthparents or adoptive parents or an adopted child, which either on its own, or in a combination with other information, discloses, or could lead to the discovery of, the identity of these individuals, such as last names, addresses, phone numbers, drivers' license numbers, social security numbers or even birth dates.
Question: Texas Defensive Driver's Course. What identifying types of information do you need? You sign up for online defensive driver's course so what types of identifying information are they going to ask for such as driver's license, ss#, vehicle registration number, license plate number, etc.? Anyone with this experience with this?
Answer: My husband took an online course, last year to be a cab driver in Dallas. It depends on what site you take the course from,
but most require Drivers license number, ss#, birthdate, vin # of all vehicles, motorecycles, trucks owned and registered in Texas,
license plate number, and information on your insurance co. and
policy number and expiration date. You'll also have to provide your Texas address, home phone and email address.
Most sites ask you to fax a copy of your drivers license and social security card and vehicle insurance card to an 800#.
You also have to pay with a credit or debit card.
Question: Recieved a text message. In the from field it said the devil. No number no identifying information. How ? How can someone send a text with no identifying information. I have researched all over the internet and the websites that say you can do not work. I'm thinking maybe its a certain type cell phone? It said From the devil... I'm waiting. Anyone know how that was done, it is driving me crazy.
Answer: go to www.vtext.com
you can put anything in the from field and write any message you would like, it was probably just someone acting stupid.
Question: What was included in your non identifying information? I sent away for my non id info yesterday.
I am not sure what to expect so I wanted to just ask and see what other people had in their information. Also, did it give you enough to search?
Anyone and everyone (adoptees and/or first moms who had non id info) please answer, but I especially appreciate answers from other IA.
Thanks!
Answer: Here's the best thing that was in my non-ID info: My first mother's birth date. I was able to find her with that.
The rest of it was very vague stuff that did turn out to match both what my a'parents were told at the time and what my first mom verified later: physical descriptions, occupations, hobbies for my parents, and little tidbits about their parents/siblings (there was much less about my father than my mother).
There was also a little bit of info about my time in the hospital.
Question: Do ATMs print identifying information on the deposit envelope when you feed them into the machine? My deposits seem to get to my account somehow. Am I making life difficult for some poor teller who has to hunt down my deposit or try to make out my signature? Or has technology spared them?
Answer: I can't answer for every bank, but at the bank where I work the account information is printed directly on the envelope as it feeds into the machine. That's why you have to enter your card and PIN number before making the deposit, so the machine can print all the information on the envelope.
We even have some new-fangled machines that don't use envelopes at all, it just scans an image of the check and electronically transmits the information (like a fax almost) to the clearing department along with your account info so that it can clear faster.
While all that is true, it can never hurt to write your account number on the check. Machines can and do screw up at times.
Thanks for worrying about us poor tellers, though! You're a sweet person.
Question: Why no identifying information on check deposits? I have a Citibank checking account. When I go to the teller and deposit a few checks, the deposit shows up as a lump sum single line when I view my activity online - preventing me from tracing a single deposit amount from a single payer in the past. This is the 21st century! Every single check deposit should be itemized with the name of who wrote the check, the date and amount.
Is there any bank out there that does this?
Thanks.
Answer: No bank does that.
You can track it yourself in Quicken or another money tracking software. Just enter the details in the memo line or tag line when you enter the transaction. If you don't track your spending like this already it's a good idea to start. It helps to get a handle on where all your money goes.
Question: Im selling my pc and want to remove all persnally identifying information. What do I need to do? I cant remove my name as the person registered to have the computer, and am also listed as the system user. I wasnt able to change the name because it was part of the system info.
Answer: take it to a computer repair center and have them delete the harddrive.
Question: Is it common for a person to have a medicare card with typos in their identifying information? If the person does not get these misinformation corrected, what could possibly happen?
For instance, typos in their name, or DOB.
Is it misleading for a person's name to be spelled Millie Jackson, when it should be Milly Jaxen?
Answer: It is not common to have any typo on a Medicare card. This will cause lots of confusion and will probably get some claims rejected. The name on the card should match their Social Security card and their driver's license or other official ID plus any supplemental insurance card. Normally, the doctor's office will want to see (and make a copy of) the patient's Medicare card, driver's license and any other insurance card. If the names don't match, they may not even allow the doctor's visit.
The Medicare card should be corrected as soon as possible. If it's actually correct, because the person has been using other unofficial spellings, then the other documents should be changed.
Question: Where do I go to get non-identifying information? I've heard of it but don't know where to go to get it, if I even have any.
Mine was a private adoption in 1969
The attorney was a family friend so I'll see what I can find out.
Irving, Texas...Dallas County
Answer: Central Adoption Registry
Department of State Health Services
P.O. Box 149347
Austin, TX 78714-9347
Question: As an adoptee I'm requesting Non identifying information concerning my birth mother? I talked to the county I was born in today and they're going to send the paperwork to fill out. I have had some recommend that I ask for my mothers first name ( since it still doesn't identify her ) and then the perfunctory questions that will be retrieved from the records.
Has anyone started this way to find their birth mom, and if so, what were the results?
Answer: I started by requesting my non-identifying information. As little info as it was, it was a first step and for me, thrilling to get a first peek into who my birth parents were.
Consider leaving a letter with the agency authorizing the release of your information should your 1st mom, birth dad, sibling or other relative (you determine who) wishes to make contact with you. You may need to do it on their form.
Write down all the information you have. If you're comfortable talking with your a.parents about it, ask them for any information they know.
Keep a log of all letters(emails)/requests for information you send and any responses you receive. This helps you "fill in the holes" and figure out what the next step in your search might be. Sort of like building a puzzle...you're putting the pieces together.
A few more steps: Add your details (birth date, place, etc) to the International Soundex Reunion Registry at: http://www.isrr.net/
If you were born in the US, you should know that 6 states provide adoptees a copy of their original birth certificate upon request: Alabama, Alaska, Kansas, New Hampshire, Oregon & Tennessee* (*with some restrictions). Check the following site for information on searching in the state the adoption took place in:
http://adopteerights.net/nulliusfilius/?…
Check for a reunion registry in the state you live in. (make sure it's the state's web page - usually has a ".gov" at the end of the web address). Most states have one. In California, for example, the link is:

Once you have a name, genealogy records are a great resource. I found my birth father through a family genealogy records. Also, keep in mind sites like classmates.com, etc.
Consider joining a search group, even if it's only on line. They provide much needed support - both emotional (searching can be a roller coaster ride of emotions) and practical (search tips, connections, etc.)
Good luck!
Question: How do I find out what kind of trail my computer is leaving behind and what identifying information is online?
Answer: lol
Question: How much identifying information can you find with an IP address? And where can you find this information? I have a log for MySpace.
Answer: You can goto any whois site. Whois.com. THis is the one I use: http://centralops.net/co/DomainDossier.a…
You can find everything up to their hosting provider, where the hosting provider or ISP resides. If this is a business, you can probably search up to the business using the ip address. Your not going to find name and address of the individual.
Question: I have a felony for fraudulent use of identifying information in 2008, i want a real estate license is it poss? Is it possible to get a real estate license?
Answer: Not with that particular felony, the state would never over look that.
Question: Zoology - Where can I find information identifying clams and mussels? I'm looking for a specific type of either clam or mussel that lives in and around Tampa Bay. Thanks.
Answer: These types of animals can be notoriously difficult to identify without the help of specialty books.
This book might be a start...
http://www.amazon.com/Field-Shells-Atlan…
...but I would check a nearby university library for more complete guides, assuming you're willing to invest a little time in this.
Question: What exactly is non-identifying information? And how does one get hold of it?
Answer: I got mine through the State, who in turn, got it from the agency who handled my adoption, the Dept of Vital Statistics and the courts where my adoption was finalized.
Wow, all those people can look at MY information, but it is off-limits to me pfffttt how dehumanizing
Some States will even insist you that you have your adoptive parents' permission to obtain information about your origins (yes, even if you are 40 years old you have to ask Mommy and Daddy!) the United States does not allow us Adoptees to grow up. We are eternal children in the eyes of the law!
I got mother and father's age, height, weight, eye color, hair color, nationality, level of education, health at the time of relinquishment.
I know for a fact that my mother named me Heather but even so the State not only blacked out my parents names but they also blacked out MY name.
The whole system is infantalizing, humiliating and completely discriminatory against adoptees who are not treated as equal citizens to those who were not adopted as children.
WAKE UP AMERICA - it's time to end the stigma of adoption!
Question: medical records to find identifying information? I mentioned before that if a child has medicaid when adopted, that they can use that number to look up things like their birth history and mothers information....
Something else i found out, is if you have x-rays or CTs at a hospital who do CDs, even if the child name is changes, their origional name in engrained in the digital image. Sometimes the type the new name right over the old name so both show..... Just though i'd put that out there...
Has anyone else seen this?
Answer: Changes in the HIPPA Laws have really made medical records difficult to acquire. It has also changed the way some families adopting from the foster care system receive medical history for the children they adopt.
The first people who started to report the changes that went into effect with HIPPA a few years ago was so obvious. Some parents adopting multiple new siblings tend to connect with each other and stay in touch. I know one situation where there are 4 adoptive families parenting 12 siblings. Not all of the children have been Placed in Order the adoptive families never expected there to be so many babies.
One family adopted #4,5,and 8...then skipped and just adopted #12... The medical information they were given for #8 included details and info about all of the past 7 children. However, the medical info for child number 12 could only legally obtain info about child number 12 and not any of the other children.
It has also effected the ability to obtain any health information about their biological mother. In the past some of us were able to get information including mental health info. This was helpful for a few reasons: To evaluate situations for contact, and identify genetic predispositions. The fact of the matter is that Many Mother's become involved with drugs in order to self medicate for other reasons. Some of us would like to help her children avoid the same pitfalls if at all possible.
I don't believe that a mother is intentionally abusive or neglectful of their baby and children. I am more inclined to believe she is suffering from mental health issues she isn't able to manage which often leads to self medicating. I think that NOT having some of the Updated information puts the parents at a disadvantage when any of the genetically linked medical and mental health information is Not provided.
In my personal experience it has always been difficult to obtain records too much after the facts. I might just have to give a shot at it because it seems with our daughter the Only One's expected to keep any kind of permanent records has been us!
I hope that in the future we might devise some kind of system that makes it possible to access and review the medical records and maintain the privacy rights. I just get so frustrated in the fact that I have to keep boxes of information organized, and ready for Re-Documentation every place my kids go for medical health services. You would think that the records could be available to the providers without me needing to copy and fax it all the time!
I think I might start looking for the records I can get about our daughter. We were told there were none until a certain age--and wonder if the info we have is even accurate. Our daughter was reported to have No Birth Certificate or medical history prior to the age of 4 and we were told her birthday was selected based on the weather reports for the time and place her mother said she gave birth. We think mom might have gotten the year wrong...The doctors and dentists also think the year is off by at least 2.
I just might have to see what info I can actually find for her.
I have also learned that the common practice of Changing the Social Security Number does not change the identity of the child in the same way some think. The old SS number is connected to the new one in the social security records.
Question: My Xbox 360 was stolen. Is there any identifying information available on the box for the 360? I have kept the box for my 360 and have reason to suspect that it will be sold to a pawn shop, where they can only do anything if you can prove it's your 360. I was just wondering if there's anything I can do.
Answer: If you still have the box, the sticker with the scan bar has the upc code, and some other numbers, i think those same #'s might be on the acctual xbox, try using those to prove it.
Question: is there (non-identifying) information about your family that you won't share even on an anonymous forum? because it feels disloyal to share it?
or do you see it as all fair game if it's anonymous?
or do you share difficult personal information about your family even in non-anonymous forums?
e.g. i once took a writing class where we were urged to write some probing memoir indicting a family member for a major fault. i couldn't bring myself to do it. there are things i won't type about family members on here, either, even though it's close to wholly anonymous.
Answer: If I'm asking for help I'll share that sort of personal information on anonymous forums, but there are some things I'll just give the general info, not get too detailed because I feel like I'm violating the trust of my kids if it's something they said to me.
I'm not a member of any non-anonymous forums. I don't ever upload pictures where you can clearly identify me or my children. I use my real name, but my name is so common you won't be able to track me down.

Question: How can I find out the title of an instrumental song when I have NO other identifying information on it...? I just have the song on tape...?
It's electronica (genre), I guess.
Answer: If you have a verizon phone, or a friend with one, you could song ID it.
Question: I have an old computer to donate to charity; how do I remove identifying information?
Answer: You could however use a disk wipe program that would make it next to impossible to get data back.
link:
http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file/fi…
I think that is the way you would want to go, the charity gets a complete computer and you have a high level of security.
The only sure way to protect your data is to take out the drive.
almost all files after a normal format can be recovered with minimal effort.
