Infertility
The inability to conceive and/or bear children by natural means.
Question: Infertility???? My husband and i have been trying to conceive for a pretty long time now and i was wondering if they have any type of insurance for just infertlity..I live in New Mexico...
Any help would be greatly appreciated...
I would also like to know whether discounts would be better than regular health insurance see i have both insurance and this dicsounts thing for dental, health, infertility, vision( you get cards and all) though they don't call themselves an insurance place???
Anybody have discount instead of insurance and is it better
Answer: I am not aware of any such insurance.
Alot of traditional major medical plans have exclusions for fertility treatments.
You might look into a mini-med/indemnity plan/modified health plan where they pay preset amounts for certain medical costs. They will not provide a lot of benefits but you will at least have some coverage.
Discount cards do not typically provide as much coverage as major medical plans. IN every case I have seen traditional insurance coverage is better.
Just make sure you read the plan document and view the exclusions before purchasing coverage.
Question: infertility? what kind of tests can doctors do 2 diagnose and determine the cause of infertility?
he has been checked. all is ok with him. now its my turn
Answer: for women they can do blood tests and vaginal ultrasounds to begin with, and for the men they to a sperm sample... it is just as likely for the male to be the cause of infertility as the female, so don't overlook that. good luck!
Question: How much do infertility test costs if insurance will NOT cover it? My husband and I are having problems conceiving. My periods are SUPER irregular, so my doctor has advised that I begin infertility tests. My husband and I are both healthy 24 years olds. Because of my lack of periods I would think that I could take Clomid or something, so I could ovulate. My doctor wants to do all kinds of tests and our insurance will not cover infertility tests and/or infertility drugs, so how much would I expect to pay out of pocket for all this to be done?
Thank You!
Answer: You can easily check your minimal health care rates in internet, for example here - health-quotes.isgreat.org
Question: What article about infertility would you like to read? I'm looking for topics that are of interest. So far I've written about holidays & infertility, coping with infertility, surviving the 2-week-wait, and tips for parents of children who are coping with infertility. Any ideas?
Answer: I would really love something that would compare and contrast going through the rigorous infertility treatments, waiting, and wondering with adoption.
Question: I read that infertility treatment can be deducted from taxes? My husband is going to have a vasectomy reversal and my question is, can it, as infertility treatment, be deducted from taxes? At least part of it? Some websites compared it to the medical procedure to correct one's disability (to have children) and such, I understood, are deductible. Do medical expenses have to be 7.5 % Gross Annual Income to be tax-deductible?
Answer: Fertility Enhancement
You can include in medical expenses the cost of the following procedures to overcome an inability to have children.
Procedures such as in vitro fertilization (including temporary storage of eggs or sperm).
Surgery, including an operation to reverse prior surgery that prevented the person operated on from having children.
How Much of the Expenses Can You Deduct?
You can deduct only the amount of your medical and dental expenses that is more than 7.5% of your adjusted gross income (Form 1040, line 38).

Question: What are the chances of infertility for women who have monthly ovarian cysts? I'm going in for my first ultrasound this week to see if there are any existing ovarian cysts that I may have. I've had terribly painful cysts for the last two/three months, with pain lasting a minimum of four hours. I'm only seventeen, and would like to raise a family someday. What are my odds of infertility? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
Answer: I was diagnosed at 20 with PCOS and I am now 25 years old. I have had alot of trouble getting pregnant. I HAVE been pregnant 2 times since the diagnosis, unfortunatly the 1st ended in miscarriage and the 2nd baby was still born Christmas Day 2009. NEITHER WHERE DUE TO THE CYSTS. We have been trying for 8 months now with no luck. Probably due to my cysts acting up and I havent had my period in the last 8 months either. If you are worried about it, I found some remedies that help concieve. Friends of mine have used it with real success, I have not tried it yet but am hopeful Its call Fertility Blend, you can find it at most GNC stores. All will be okay, either way. Good Luck!
Question: How long is the process for infertility testing before the doctor start treatment? I have infertility issue(s), one which is most obvious is that I do not ovulate. I did some lab work incl glucose and everything came back negative. Now I will do a ultrasound. I just want to know how long is this process going to be or a general idea from experiences. Thanks
Answer: This will vary depending on your Specialist and what tests they feel are needed. They also take into account how long you have been trying and your age. My partner and I were trying for 12 months, Im 30 his 36 after about 2 months of tests our specialist put me on clomid to help things along after 5 months of clomid we just found out were pregnant!!!!! No matter how long your tested poked and prodded it is all worth it when you get that positive result. Good luck x o x o
Question: If testicles are exposed to bleach will infertility follow? A good friend of mine had poison ivy on his inner thighs and testicles. He unfortunately treated the open sores and the entire area with straight bleach not diluted with water. He left the bleach on for about 15 minutes before washing it off. (as you can imagine it was very painful) The poison ivy did clear up, but is there a chance he might suffer from infertility?
Answer: Yes there is a chance - hopefully for all of us - that he will suffer from infertility. However, it may not be because of the bleach.
Question: What are some name ideas for an infertility charity? I am planning on starting a charity for infertile women that will help raise money for women trying to conceive their first child.
I myself have struggled with infertility for 8 years and the cost is just outrageous. My goal is to help other women who cannot afford the treatment.
Thanks in advance!!!!

Question: Is it true that infertility issues start at 27? I had a rude mom on here tell me that if I waited too much longer (I am 26) to have a kid I would wind up with infertility issues because it starts at 27!?! I really think she is wrong, but now I am worried! What do you think? Have you read any research?
Answer: Fertility issues can start earlier than 27. Age-related infertility could be said to start at 27 because that's when fertility starts declining, but that doesn't mean that anyone over the age of 27 will necessarily have problems. I wouldn't worry too much. There is a lot of misinformation that gets spread and people can be really rude sometimes.

Question: Are there any ways to detect infertility without having to go to a Doctor? I've been booted in the testicles repeatedly as a child (was bullied for the majority of my school life, put in hospital a few times) and I'm unsure of whether or not i'll be able to have children.
I just wondered if there was any way to detect infertility/sterility without having to go to the doctors?
Consistency in semen perhaps, mine seems to clear after a while which i assume isn't a very good thing.
Would appreciate help with my problem.
Answer: If you're in the UK I think you can buy kits in Boots - they deffo test a woman's fertility - you might take a look at the Boots website to see if it states. Otherwise, there is bound to be something you can buy as there are lots of tests for woman. Failing that, it's probably easier to see your Dr. Good luck.

Question: How long did you wait before starting infertility treatments? I'm 32 years old. I miscarried Dec 06 then in March 07 after trying for 3 years. I have not been pregnant since. How long did you wait before starting infertility?
Answer: I am 31 and have been ttc for 14 months. I first started going to my ob after 4 months of ttc because I did not get a regular period. She put me on medication to induce my period, but I was still not ovulating. I waiting until I had been ttc for 12 months before I started any fertility treatment. I am now on my third round of clomid. I am still only seeing my ob. Before you go to a fertility specialist, your ob can run some tests to see what if anything is wrong and can prescribe some medications to help. If the medications do not work, then the ob will suggest seeing a specialist.
Good luck and lots of baby dust to you!
Question: Has anyone tried natural remedies to reverse infertility? I have a small fibroid on my uterus and PCOS on my right ovary. The doc has spoken about prescribing clomid, however we have only been ttc for 8 months. My hubby and I would like to wait till 12mths of ttc before I start to take drugs, but I was just wondering if anyone has tried natural remedies to reverse infertility and what your thoughts are. Did it work?
Answer: I didn't take it long enough to actually witness any results yet, but you could try taking Vitex aka chaste berry. You can order it online at Amazon.com or whatever. It's a natural supplement that can regulate a woman's cycle. I have PCOS too, so I know it's frustrating. Good luck to you!
Question: What birth control is least likely to cause infertility? I'd like to get something thats not a pill. The shot sounds like its got the highest chance to cause infertility. Right now I have my eye on an IUD paraguard. Any ideas?
If you know more about the Paraguard, please tell me. Ive been looking everywhere, getting more information. The reason I dont want the pill is because it makes me pretty depressed and hard to lose weight.
Answer: I feel the exact same way about pills and injections - they make me fat and grumpy. I LOVE the paraguard IUD and it doesn't cause infertility, just somewhat heavier periods which is no biggie for me. It's extremely effective over the long term and used by more women worldwide than any other kind of contraceptive. It was a bit uncomfortable upon insertion at my doc's office, but that was the only trouble I ever had with it. No problems with fertility - I'm currently 39 weeks pregnant at age 33 with my first baby after 5 years of using it. When we removed it I got pregnant in 4 months which is faster than average for a woman of my age. I am definitely going back to it after my daughter is born.
