:)
Answer: There aren't many orphanages left, certainly not in the USA.
The minimum age to volunteer at organizations vary. For some, it's as young as 13. Most have a cutoff at 16. The only way to know for sure is to call and ask.

Answer: A wonderful dream.. However I would suggest you work in one first. I am in Romania working with sick and abandoned children. It's the hardest thing you will ever encounter. Speak with you parents about a summer volunteering. The work you do during the summer will help you to better understand the needs of these children and enable you to help the better as an adult. If you are interested feel free to email me and I can answer your questions personally.
Question: How do I find a permanent job in an African Orphanage or start my own? I want to pack up my son and move us to Africa to work with the children so desperately in need but I don't know where to start. I would need to earn a basic wage or work somewhere that would house and feed us. If there isn't an Orphanage that needs us then I'd like to start my own since there is no shortage of Orphans in need! Any advice will help!
Answer: There's a group I know very well doing extensive missionary work in Africa, though often at risk of their own lives. A dear neighbor of mine is there now working in Burkina Faso. If you are really serious, the group is headquartered at a private university on the North Side of Chicago and they are exceptionally well-regarded for their mission work in Africa. Here's a sight listing the types of jobs they're filling now with Americans. http://www.covafrica.org/needs.html#mini…

Question: What are some tips for teaching english in an African orphanage that has zero facilities? Hi,
My mother is currently in Africa teaching english at an orphanage that has no books, materials, electricity etc. Does anyone know any good games she could play with the kids or any activities they could do? (She has a computer that she can print things out on back at her house).
Thanks!
Answer: Here's some websites I thought you might wanna check out because they seem to have some neat ideas:
http://www.teachervision.fen.com/classro…
http://www.bradleys-english-school.com/

I myself would even suggest using flashcards with pictures. Like for example apple would be on the front of the flashcard along with a picture of an apple, and then the meaning would be on the back of the flash card. Bingo is a nice one too. Like if you make a bingo chart and have either your mom or the students fill them in.
Question: Im interested in starting an orphanage/adoption centre overseas, Where do I start? I have always been so interested by children and giving them a better chance in life. Starting an orphanage/adoption centre has always been a dream. But in reality where do you start with these things?
Answer: if you REALLY want to help the children may I respectfully suggest to start a family sponsorship program by linking with already established orphanages to find the families who are going to surrender due to poverty to help support them and help them stay together. The cost of one adoption in guatemala can feed MANY families for a year there. Something to think about...
Question: What happen to children in the orphanage when they reached 18? In the Philippine constitution, orphan is define as a child below 18 yrs old who is left without any care or guardian. Does this mean he/she will be dismiss from orphanage when no one adopted him/her?
Answer: in america they try to phase the child out. they provide a bit of monetary assisstance to help get an apartment or car. they help provide jobs and some career training. if the 18 year old continues on to college directly after high school they continue to provide medical insurance.
of course many people (orphans) choose to leave without taking the help.
