Reunion
A term used to refer to a personal meeting between an adoptee and one or more of its birth relatives.
Question: Reunion??? I am planning a Family Reunion at age 15. My family is a group of athletes, yet some might just want to sit down and relax. I told everyone that it would be something to remember, but I have my doubts. Any ideas?
Answer: We had a big reunion last summer, and it was a blast. Make sure people bring family pictures, both old and newer. We also had family memorabilia there, such as a doll made by my grandmother for my mother (both deceased). My grandfather was a printer, and we had samples of his work. Ask people to bring things like that, plus old family Bibles if they have family records written in them. We organized horseshoe tournaments and had other games available for people to play, including some for the younger ones. It was a potluck affair, so no one person was stuck doing all the work. Make sure plenty of pictures are taken, especially of each individual family group. Above all, enjoy being together. We hadn't had a reunion in many years, and it was really sad to think about the ones who wouldn't be there for this one. It made us determined to have one every couple years.
Question: How do you make a Family Reunion a success? I'm planning our first family reunion and need ideas. Any info would be great on things to do, not to do, ect. We have never had a "family reunion" with everyone, and I have never planned one myself. Any ideas would be great if you have experiences to share too.
Answer: 1. timing - if people can't come it won't be much of a reunion. Find out when most people have some free time.
2. location, location, location - similarly if they can't get there or there's not enough room it will spoil things
3. food: have each family bring a dish to pass (something special to them). This makes for great conversation over recipes, how the dish came about etc. Helps break the ice sometimes (i.e. if you feed them they will come).
4. Provisions: let people know what you're providing and what they have to bring (like chairs, pop, beer, etc. depending on your budget and lcoation)
5. Entertainment: it's nice to have music, and a must to have games and activities to keep children from being bored -- they should have something to look forward to rather than the outting being a chore
6. a set up and clean up crew - see if you can get a few people to help out (this can be a HUGE task)
7. invitations and thank you notes (also a sign up sheet for those who want to be invited for future family events that includes email, addy, phone numbers etc.).
8. covering - weather happens.
Question: Who is usually incharge of throwing the class reunion? 10 year reunion comming up, haven't heard anything about the actual reunion get together, so a few classmates and I started planning it - but who usually handles this?
Answer: One would think it would be someone like the Valedictorian, or the Senior Cheerleader Captain, or the Varsity Football Quarterback, but alas, in my school, just someone who took an interest and had limited face time in school took charge and pulled it together. There is no one that is technically in charge of doing it. Usually someone simply steps forward and takes charge.
Question: What are good ways to celebrate the reunion of a best friend? My best friend will be spending his summer vacation here in our place and we haven't seen each other for 5 years. We are still communicating, but since 5 years was quite long, I wouldn't doubt he has changed, so how do I spend my time with him? I mean how can we celebrate our reunion? And how do I act in front of my bestfriend who I haven't met for five years?
Answer: go get drunk
Question: How much should I charge to photograph a high school reunion? My brother in law invited my husband and I to his class reunion as guests. After the invitation, he asked me if I would photograph the event for the reunion committee, knowing that I take good photos. They will hire me and pay me for memory cards or any other supplies I need. They asked me to make up an invoice. What should I charge per hour to do this job? I have a Canon digital camera with 8 megapixels, probably considered a pocket camera.
Answer: If you have a "pocket camera" aka a point and shoot then you really shouldn't be charging anything to shoot the event. You'll pretty much get the same results as someone else using the same kind of camera.
If you don't have a DSLR or access to one then pass on this, please.
Question: How much notice to give for my family reunion? I am planning a cousin reunion for the first week of August 2009 in Massachusetts. How much advance notice do I need to give my cousins? Half are in Massachusetts, the others are in Delaware, Virginia, West Virginia, Louisiana, and Illinois. I'm afraid I'm going to send the invitations out too late and they won't have enough time to save money for plane tickets and get leave from work. How many months notice is enough notice?
Thanks for the input so far. I was thinking 6 months, but I was hoping people would say that shorter notice is ok. 6 months from today is August and I don't have the details worked out yet. I guess I'll just have to get things in order quickly so I can give everyone a date to save. More opinions would still be nice. Thanks everyone.
Answer: I would give everyone around 6 months notice, if possible. (I live far away from most of my family, and if I were attending a reunion I would prefer to have at least 5 to 6 months, so that I could save for the trip, schedule time off from work, etc.) Hope this helps.
Question: What are some great ideas for a family reunion? Me and some more of my family are planning a family reunion set for July 2010. I would like to know if any of you have any ideas that may be helpful in planning this memorable event. Thanks!
Answer: games
Question: What website allows you to order individual family reunion tshirts? We are having a family reunion next year. In order to take some of the stress off of the planners, I would like for individuals to be able to go online to order their own shirts. Similar to going online and ordering items for a child's school (logo shirts, jackets, socks, backpacks, etc.). The problem is, I don't' know where to look. Can someone please give me a website that would allow me to design the shirt and post it so other family members can purchase it?
Answer: Logochefs.com can provide you the solution of your question.
Question: What are the best deocrations for a 10 year high school reunion? I am on the planning committee for my 10 year high school reunion and would like to know what kind of decorations would be good? The reunion is nothing fancy, just a pig roast. Anyone have any ideas?
Answer: What we did at ours that was a big hit:
We looked through the yearbook and racked our memories for trivia facts. Then we typed them up in Word, printed them out on card stock weight paper, and put the questions as a tent on each table. The answers were on the back.
Things like: Who was Captain of the football team our Senior year?
Who was Homecoming Queen our Senior year?
Who did Steve Smith take to the prom our Junior year?
It wasn't so much that everybody had to come up with the right answers as much as it was a conversation starter. I mean, you come back for your 10th reunion, sit and chat for awhile, and then sometimes you don't have a lot more in common to talk about! These were great conversation starters.
We also scanned and printed out yearbook pictures of the senior class and scattered them around on the tables. We also scanned and printed the same pictures out and put one on a card with trivia questions about that person (nice questions only!)
We found that people would actually move from table to table so they could see what was on the others and see if they could answer them!
As far as centerpieces, we didn't worry too much about those, except if you want to do large candles in your school colors. Everyone looks better in candlelight!
Good luck, and HAVE FUN! That's the main thing. By our 30th one, we didn't care what we looked like or how much money we had made....we were just glad to be there!
Question: Annual Family Reunion, how to get others to participate MORE? every year we have a reunion. Each year, more and more people participate in small ways. I was wondering how to get people to actually be in charge of certain events. i.e. organizing the pot luck, or kids games, or crafts. What has worked diplomatically for you in the past when delegating? Just curious. This is hubby's family and I absolutely love them, but somehow get myself in charge and reluctant to TELL people what to do, I usually ask in the newsletter for volunteers. Any other methods?
Answer: Even people with the best intentions might not get around to volunteering. The key is to ask. And a key to asking is to figure out what people in the family are good at or what they enjoy doing. "Aunt Pat, I know you love to play games. Would you be willing to be in charge of the games for this year's reunion?" or "Uncle Joe, you're the best cook in the family. Could you organize our potluck this year?" or "Aunt Sally, you're in touch with everyone in the family. Could you handle the reunion RSVPs this year?"
Good luck!!
Question: planning a reunion in a School and we are intending on supplying Wine and Beer do we need a temporary license? I am planning a reunion to be held in a School and we are intending on supplying Wine and Beer do we need a temporary license? If so how do we apply?
Answer: You need to ask the agency that does the licensing in your state. If you want to be safe then just make it BYOB, but I bet if you do not charge then no license is needed, but play it safe and contact the correct agency.
Question: Does anyone have any good ideas for a class of 2000 reunion theme? I'm in the process of planning a ten year reunion for the class of 2000 and desperately need a theme for the reunion. I remember the millennium was a big deal during that time, but I can't figure out how to incorporate that into the present. Please HELP!
Answer: prom theme!!
Question: Whose job is it to organize a high school reunion? I heard once that it was "tradition" for the president of the senior class to be in charge of organizing a high school reunion. Is that still true? Who's expected to spearhead the planning?
Answer: The class officers organize the first one, usually, and from then on it is whoever wants to spend the time and energy. It is usually a thankless job. If your class had more than 20 graduates, you need a committee.
In California, at least, the economics are discouraging. If you want to rent a banquet hall for a catered dinner-dance, the facts that
Each table gets used just once that night, instead of the three to five times it will get used in a normal restaurant;
No one will tip the wait staff, so their tips have to be included in the dinner price;
The DJ has to be included too;
means you have to charge $50 to $100 per person, for a meal they could get for $30 - $60 in a restaurant. This makes the guests feel cheated.
Added to that, about half of the people will want to dance the night away to loud music, and the other half will want to sit and talk without having to shout over the music.
It isn't much fun, and no one will thank you, usually.
Question: How would I write a congratulation letter to someone who had a reunion with their loved one? How would I write a congratulation letter to someone who had a reunion with their loved one? Like to a person who had a reunion with their old girlfriend and still love them very much. That person wants to marry that person...
Answer: This is a personal letter. Simply say something like:
Dear Blank,
I am writing to convey my thrill at the news of your reunion with Blankette. You must be so happy!
Will the two of you do me the honor of dining at my house next Tuesday?
Best regards,
Me
Question: What's the best way to get family reunion T shirts designed and printed? I'm planning a family reunion and I know that there are many options for t shirts, but I wonder if anyone has experience with particular t shirt designers and/or printers. I don't want to get burned, so if anyone has good experiences with t shirt printers and designers, please let me know.
Answer: I used TheTdesigner.com for my Family Reunion T Shirts and it was quick and easy. They have an online design studio that makes designing a shirt easy, then you get a quote quickly. They even offer free shipping, so that was a nice surprise. I would totally recommend them to anyone. Check em out at http://www.thetdesigner.com/t-shirts/family-reunion-tshirts.htm

I want my nails to look cute for my reunion especially since ill be attending all of the reunion events.
Should i get my nails done at the beauty salon or do them myself to have beautiful long fingernails for the reunion?
i forgot to mention that im a guy.
Answer: Ok, here is the thing... It's been 10 years since you've been in high school so don't paint your nails blue...
You are a grown up now... Do something like a french manicure. If you want a little something "more" you might want to add a few crystals. But don't look like you've aged but never left hs.

Question: How many years after graduation should you host first reunion? When is it customary to hold the first high school reunion? Five or ten years?
Answer: Ten to fifteen years is reasonable. Let people get after college life experience behind them. It'll be much more interesting when you meet.
Question: What are fun recommended activities for a summer family reunion? We have a family reunion this August. We are looking for ideas for fun activities. We are staying in lake cabins for seven days. What can we with very young and also with the very old. We welcome several ideas - simple is better. Thanks!
Answer: A family reunion is really a good thing, maybe you can go to a travel with your family, go to some place it is beautiful and then take some photos.
Whatever you are, only you are a family. You must be very happy and I think the best thing is that you can take more photos with your family and then when the travel is end. You and your family can share the photo together, I think it is a very good idea.
Besides, I think you can try to make a album, it can adds some music for it, it makes your photo more active and so real, the most important thing is that it can convert your photo to the TV and MTV ,and you can add some music for it. when see it, I think when your family see it ,everyone will be very happy! It is a really good choice.
If you have interested in it, maybe you can go to the website: http://www.makemymtv.com/.
i hope this will help you!
Question: How to unlock characters in Resident Evil 5 Mercenaries Reunion Mode? Does anyone know how to unlock sheva (buisness), chris (heavy metal), and the others in the new mercenaries reunion mode? I downloaded it off of the PS Network and i only have Barry and Excela unlocked. Are you suposed to buy the $55 gold edition to unlock the rest of the characters and Desperate escape?
Answer: Actually there are only 8 characters, heavy metal Chris, Fairy tale Sheva, Josh, Excella, Rocker Chris, Business Sheva, Barry, and Rebbecca. You start out with Barry and Excella as someone else said, then you can buy the character pack for Fairy tale Sheva and Rocker Chris. I'm not quite sure how to unlock Rebbecca, but I've been playing with people who have Rebbecca, Business suit Sheva, and Heavy Metal Chris.
