Question: What is a good cause to donate my money? I am 16 and I just got my paycheck and I've got like $500. I want to donate some of said money because I know there are a lot of people that need it more than I do and I know if I keep it all, I'll just spend it on a bunch of bull shit cause that's what I always do. ANYWAY- does anyone know of a good charity that I can donate to and how I might go about doing it?

Answer: Wow what a lovely gesture and how very empathetic of you to realize so early at such a young age that we all really need to do our part. I suggest you think about what you are passionate about. Whether it be animals or children or maybe a disease that seems to affect your family. It helps to maybe be able to relate to the cause on some level and then enjoy the knowledge that you helped. I really believe that we should help our neighbors as well. Is there a food bank you could help out or a local women's shelter. Maybe a local youth group that helps kids stay out of trouble? You local food shelter probably reaches the most people and probably like most food banks is over used. People always donate dry goods but imagine standing out front with maybe $10 food certificates for the local groceries to hand to some clients offering them an opportunity to buy something fresh and giving them the dignity to choose what they wanted! Or instead of your everyday dry goods you call them and ask them what their busiest day is and show up with a ton of fresh fruit! Or a bunch of jars of honey or maybe tons of lunchables items that would go to school age kids! Maybe plastic sandwich containers and juice holders or sandwich bags. I find that a lot of single moms always wish they can do more for the little ones. Anyhow just some thoughts I am sure whatever you do will be wonderful. God Bless You!

Answer: Time. It's the most precious thing we have, because it is life itself. The real work in a good cause is done by the people who give time. They can use it for the work - and to get money from others. So it's a win both ways. Too many people don't get engaged, but merely send money because it's easy and it salves their conscience. They're really only dodging the load and shifting it onto others. Unless they're too frail to do any work, and can only help with money, of course (like me now)

Question: What would be a good cause to make a new charity for? If a new charity was being formed, what would be a good cause for it to stand for?

Answer: I'm working to start one for people who lose communication skills after brain injury from stroke or head trauma. Need all the help we can get. Its not an issue most people have heard of and those with it obviously have problems advocating for themselves. There are already so many charities for hunger, children,animals, etc. This is a very underserved population.

Question: giving money to organizations with a good cause? This year I have decided to contribute to organizations that support a good cause. I have already given to ASPCA, To Write Love on Her Arms and a breast cancer fund. I need some more ideas. Thanks!

Answer: I believe that if the govt wants to do that, they need to follow the existing laws. There have been laws on the books for over 30 years allowing wiretapping of foreign terrorist subjects. And under those laws (18 USC 2511), the authorities can even begin the wiretapping immediately and apply for a secret warrant (nobody ever knows) within 72 hours AFTER they start. Given FISA and secret courts and all the other things the govt can already legally do, they don't invade even further by conducting illegal surveillance.

Question: Where can you donate pop tabs to a good cause? I'm a high school student. A group of other students and I are going to collect aluminum cans all year, and sell them, then donate the money to a foundation to save endangered animals. I was just wondering if there is any good cause you can donate the pop tabs for, since we will have many of those by the end of the year. The other question I have is if anyone knows any good foundations we can donate the money to at the end of the year. We already have a couple of ideas, but it would be cool to hear some more! Question: How to donate a computer to a school (or any other good cause)? I live in the Baltimore area and I want to donate my old desktop computer (complete with monitor and peripherals) to a school or any other good cause. The computer works fine, it's just old and not as fast as the new models (it's one of the faster Pentium III models). I am pretty sure that a school could use it for simple stuff. But I cannot find any programs that do this kind of thing. If you know whom I can contact, please let me know.

Answer: You can contact "Lutheran Charities" or "Salvation Army" and they will take and donate where it needs.

Question: Any good ideas for a good cause to raise money for? I am part of a church, and i ws told to try and find a cause to raise money for. Some ideas that i had were helping kids that were affected by tsunamis in Tihland, and kids that were abused. Have any other ideas? and some websites to look at would be good too. thanks.

Answer: Buy used clothes for very little and donate the difference to the appropriate cause. You help the world by being green and put your money directly to good use. Put up or shut up.

Now the company is laying off many and I think my job is next. my base pay has been reduced 10% and they are laying me off for 1 week every month plus my commission is off 50% I cant feed my family with 38K per year. Answer: It depends on your state laws. Answer: u shld have a who's who directory of your city. look at list and write to them. or write to the big companies around your area. good well written letter appealing for donations or suggest each employee give 95cents/pence from their paycheck via a bank deduction process for a period of xx months

Question: Do you think that somebody can cause good luck? Sometimes I have the feeling that because I really really wish for something to happen, it does. Also sometimes I think that people with negative attitudes towards life make bad stuff happen to them through this attitude. Answer: Not so much luck but you can bring things about that you want if you set things up for them to happen. If you've ever read The Secret, that's what that is all about. I think it's the same as prayer and daily affirmations. If you want something enough and focus on it you act in ways, both consciously and unconsciously to seek them out and ways that will bring these things about.

Question: I'm all for financial donations for good cause. I'm just skeptical where it all goes? I would donate only if I know majority of the donation goes to helping for the cause. Do you know of good ones? I'd be happy if at least 80% will go into actual helping people & not into someone's deep pocket.

Answer: Look up on the internet and see what kind of administrative cost these agencies have. I found a figure on the web that their overhead is 15%, but I don't believe that. I've looked up several agencies that I wanted to donate to and their overhead ranged to 45% and I wasn't interested.

But why don't actors and other famous people sell their clothing to fans in order to raise money for good causes like this? Does this happen anywhere? On any websites? You can't really trust ebay...

Answer: Yes, celebrities normally auction off their clothing through a registered charity via ebay.
