Question: What goes in people's minds that are overtly rude, yet still expect you to have curtesy towards them? This one guy harassed me for years, yelling me down, insulting me in public, etc...I simply ignored... Years later, he tried to do it again. When I smiled, he attempted to talk to me, yet I cut him off, and he looked more insulted than I've ever seen a person? Mind you, he's like this to many people, so it's not a matter of me appearing easy to control... I've seen this behavior in others too...what is going on in these people's minds?

Answer: It's possibly venting and most likely hypocrisy, dishing it out but not taking it. People who do not respect themselves or others have no place demanding respect. You handled it very well by ignoring him. No sense in giving attention to bullies who are also attention whores, that is exactly what they are after.

Question: Is our car culture the cause of the breakdown of local culture and common curtesy ? Our streets have turned into rows of parked cars, with a constant flow of high speed strangers passing through. It is now illegal for children to play outside their homes . Neighbours no longer sit outside their homes and talk. People are scared that their homes and kids are at risk from strangers. people often work and shop a car ride from their homes, so that friends and colleagues live elsewhere. Car drivers rarely stop for pedestrians ,unless they have to. It is presumed that being in a car gives one the right of way. Cars make our streets smelly, noisy and unhealthy, as well as killing enourmous numbers of people, so our environment becomes something to escape, or rush through (prehaps in a car) Car drivers are insulated from their environment ,and happily drive past pedestrians at speeds which feel very threatening to someone not encased in metal. Busy roads,combined with the above,encourage a more aggressive approach to others. Anything to add ?

Answer: i agree with wot u say it is true, i dont like my kids out on the streets cos of cars going by at 50mph on a 30mph street. its scary, and yes u never know who may stop and grab them off the street. but wot exactly can b done? many ppl depend on cars its a shame that they r built to go faster than speed limits it doesnt make sense

Answer: All depends on your insurance.

Answer: ... and the reason for the courtesy circle when used in the show ring, is to give the judge a moment to jot down your number and organize her cards before you begin your course. And afterward to make any final commentary about your round so she can remember you when she pins the class.

Question: I'm flying on a red eye to Washington D.C...looking for a hotel that offers curtesy rooms for a price...? I need to shower and change, but not spend the night...willing to pay, just can't find any place to go. Where do the airline attendants go? Thanks!

Answer: Call some of the hotels that morning when you land. They are called day-use rooms but most hotels won't have them if they were sold out the night before or after.

Question: How can I remove hardened dark purple nail polish from white plush carpet? I have splattered, dried purple nail polish over a 3.5 sq. ft. area in my formal living room, curtesy of my 7 year old who threw the bottle across the room during a "temper tantrum". The bottle top broke off...and now I'm left with a Jackson Pollack painting on my rug. I have tried nail polish remover and shaving cream. Any other suggestions to remove hardened nail polish?

Answer: Remove as much of the foreign material as possible by blotting with a white paper towel or scraping with a dull knife. Apply isopropyl rubbing alcohol to a clean white cloth, white paper towel or cotton ball. If the spot extends deep into the pile use a blotting motion until the spot is removed or no color is transferred to the cloth. Do not allow the alcohol to penetrate into the backing as this will destroy the latex bond. If the spot is on the surface only, rub in one direction at a time. Never us a circular motion to remove spot as this may destroy the texture. Stop if spot is removed. If not, go to Step 3. Blot up as much of the spill as possible by blotting with a white paper towel or scraping with a dull knife. Apply a small quantity of detergent solution to the spot. Use a blotting motion to work the detergent into the affected area. If spot is being removed continue applying detergent and blotting with a white paper towel until spot is removed. Rinse with tap water using a spray bottle, blot to remove excess moisture. Spray lightly with water, do not blot this time; apply pad of paper towels and brick and allow to dry. If there is still some stain on the carpet and blotting is not removing it, then moisten the tufts in the stained area with 3% hydrogen peroxide. Let stand for on (1) hour. Blot and repeat until carpet is stain free. Light will cause peroxide to change back to water so no rinsing is necessary. Apply pad of paper towels and weight down with brick.

Question: What's the benefit to taking low estrogen birth control pills? What's the benefit to taking low estrogen birth control pills as suppose to regular ones? Is estrogen harmful? Are there more side effects? The only side effect I'm aware of is that across the board low estrogen pills are more likely to lower your sex drive, curtesy of the famous Dr. Drew, so I was wondering if there is anything else to consider. Answer: Estrogen CAN be harmful--lifetime exposure to estrogen is positively correlated with lifetime risk of breast cancer and uterine cancer. So it's thought that the lower estrogen pills will be better in that regard. But your risks are still very small, so it's not a huge difference. Other problems you might have with the low estrogen pills are constipation and dry skin. But all pills affect libido, so you migth want to skip them all.

Question: How do I naturally bring out the red and blonde highlights in my brunette hair? I have long, straight, brown hair, and it's lighter than most Asian's hair. I was born with some red and blonde highlights, curtesy of DNA, but they arn't that noticible, though some of my friends has told me that I have natural highlights. Answer: Try squeezing lemon in your hair and laying out in the sun on a hot summer day for about 45 minutes. Always works for me :)

Question: How Can I Remove the smell of Stale Cigarette smoke, must, mold and mildew from carpet, and whole apartment? I am cleaning up my father-in-law's apartment before he comes home from the hospital. I really need to get all these funky scents out of the apartment and the windows are nailed shut curtesy of pop's land lord. I have tried fabrese, I am shampooing the carpet, I have used pine sol...any suggestions are truly welcome... cannot afford to have carpets professionally cleaned, so that is out. :(

Answer: I would get the carpets professionally cleaned

Question: Is it illegal for an employer to not let us drink? I work at a movie theater and we used to be able to grab curtesy cups durin our shift. They made a new rule saying we can only get them on our break now. So I asked if I could just bring a bottle water and keep it in the back but they said no. Isnt that some kind of violation? It's unhealthy not to drink anything for hours...

Answer: There's no law requiring an employer to allow employees to keep personal food or drink with them on company premises, sorry.

Answer: good question , i think the reason nz dominates ithat is outside of world cups is due to its depth in its squad while most countries will struggle to field top fit teams or potentially even B sides during their internationals , nz will always field a relatively full strength line up, the problem with nz rugby at world cup, is that they try to play a too expansive and stylish game if you like , and as jake white said world cup finals trys are a rarity , i think nz lacks the mentality and physical toughness when it comes to pressure moments in knock out games, they would have greatly benefited if they had a least a single competitive group stage match leading upto that fate ful corner final , as all the teams to go through to the semis, where from the same groups and therefore played pressure rugby, ie england played sth africa before beating australia, france had played likes of argentina, etc

Question: I have a difficult boss and need help? I work in a small company (there are 3 of us) and I recently told my boss that I am thinking of leaving, out of curtesy. I have been working here for 2 years and feel that it is time that i move on (there are other issues as well...) Since telling my boss he has cut all contact that i have with out clients. He has excluded me from many things happening in the office and makes me do all the 'doggy work'. I am not even allowed to go to any meetings anymore. I know that he has to take care of his business, but I have not even handed in my notice. I tried to talk to him yesterday but he is having none of it. Please can you help? Shall I sit tight and wait untill I find a job, or leave and go temping?

Question: What do you do about fairness on the job? I've worked for the same company for 6 years. Very small (3) person office. When I started I was a receptionist. Shortly (1year) after the person who started the company with the original owner left, she couldn't stand his crocked ways and discussting habits. She sued him got compensated and left. I being the only other person there got her job(she made $5400. wk.) at a bargain basement salary $700. wk., was thrown into a position of finance and payroll sales importing and exporting wood from So. America. After being on my own for 1 year my boss finally agrred to get me help. He hired an accountant and a receptionist. Neither one picked up the financial slack I was thrown into. Since then the new acct. came on making twice my salary for far less work received a cell phone a New Suv and credit card. The female 25years old within three years received a credit card and a brand new truck curtesy of the company, they also received medical where I have received 00. What can I do.

Answer: Sounds like you've gained a lot of skills in the meantime from this job, even if your salary sucks. You can try talking to the boss, but don't be disappointed if you don't get the response you were looking for. I would update my resume and start looking for another job. You appear to be highly hireable, and should run with it.

Question: what drives you mad about other road users? What prompted me to ask this question is because, today, due to an imbecil of a driver, i had to wait twice, not once for the traffic to change to green. He drove so, so, slow, the traffic changed from green to red - as he approached it- and he stopped, making all of us, wait, again, until was green again. I am a careful driver, and due to my job I cant have points on my licence, neither convictions, but I do get mad, frustrated and grumpy when i see the incompetence and lack of common sense and curtesy of some drivers. Why is so difficult to " think" of others too, when you drive? I often "give them way" if they are stuck and always keep my distance. So, what drives you crazy? and Do you feel getting really angry about that, almost having to keep calm, enough so that it doesnt turn into a road rage? fantastic answers everyone, keep them comming, i read them all. Answer: Boy do I understand! I also drive for a living and the thing that really gets me is all the people I see running red lights! I have almost been hit several times, one of which, would have, at least, put me in the hospital for a long time. Is like people don't think they also would be hurt if an accident happens, or they Just DON'T think! Green is Go Yellow is caution, and to let you know a red is coming:-) Red is STOP!!!!! Question: Could the PJ summon McCanns to Portugal, if they think UK too soft? It doesn`t sound as though the PJ have much faith in the UK police to get the job done. Answer: Yes, as they are arguido's the Portuguese police could use a European arrest warrant to force their return to Portugal. But, the reports in the press are twisted, it's McSpin you're seeing, they need it to appear there are divisions, where non exist, it's a bit like the supposed "argument" between the forensic scientists, which never occured, the McCanns will do anything to try to suggest that there are splits between the authorities, ohh, and, keep the begging bowl rattling.

Question: What should I do about my neighbor's barking dog? My neighbors have a rotteweiler that they leave outside most of the time. It barks constantly through the night and wakes me up at all hours. My bedroom is in the back of the house closest to their yard, plus my window is old so the barking is loud in my room. You can't really even hear the dog from anywhere else in the house. I've gone over there and told them the dog keeps me awake at night, they said they were sorry but still never bring it inside and haven't done anything to stop it from barking. I would think it is common curtesy to keep your dog quiet, when my dog barks for only a minute I make him be quiet and bring him inside. What can I do? Should I call the police and file a noise complaint? I don't want to get thier dog taken from them but I haven't had a good night's sleep in months!

Answer: There is a difference between assertiveness and aggression. Assertiveness is when you simply maintain your rights, without violating those of anyone else. This beautiful doggie has been abandoned by it's owners outside, and that's prompting you to lose sleep. You have a right to sleep. You have attempted to speak to your neighbor about the dog and it's barking. Obviously, these tactics have been ineffective. Do you have a neighborhood association of some sort? Perhaps a townhouse or condo association? They usually have pretty strict rules about noise and pets. If you don't have such a group to appeal to, perhaps you MUST go to the police. Don't simply go once and then do nothing. This is something you will probably have to pursue as the offense is ongoing and interrupting your functioning and violating your rights. It may even make sense to take a video for a few minutes every night, of the dog barking, so that the cops can see there is a persistent pattern of noise and disturbance. Document any contact you have with your neighbors. Make copies of letters, and make note of the dates you have tried to resolve this yourself.
