Discovery Problems
If you are being unreasonably oppressed by discovery, ask the court for a ?protective order? to quash, i.e., cancel, or limit the scope of a deposition. If the other side fails to cooperate with your requests, you can file a ?motion to compel? and request sanctions. Fee awards are unusual; judges often tolerate substantial misbehavior before punishing the guilty.
Question: Common 2004 Land Rover Discovery Problems? I am looking to buy a used a 2004 Discovery. I know prior year discoveries have major problems(1995-2003) I heard that the last year models included changes to avoid problems in earlier models. Are 2004 models anymore reliable? Also, what are the most common problems that these vehicle has? I.e.- engine, sunroof, interior, etc. If I don't plan to drive it daily, is a extended warranty needed?
Answer: ive heard the gearboxes are not tough enough.the main bearing goes then the imput shaft eats into the housing before you realise.ive only heard.can get costly.
Question: Heating problems with a land rover discovery v8 model 1996? Can anyone advise me to what the problem maybe? The heating system is not warming up (however it did come on for a short time the other day) The hand break sign on the dash display is permenantely on and i dont know if this is just a coincidence or if there is a electrical problem or if its the thermostat thats packed in. I am still using the car which also runs as LPG and wonder if i shouldn't. Please let me know if you have an idea whats wrong with the car. Thanks
Thanks to everyone who took the time to answer.
Answer: new thermostat and free up the switch on your handbrake it is stuck.LPG is a dirty gas to burn and generates a lot of water vapour ,the carburation system can get blocked with a grey grease like sediment generated by the lpg.its ok to use if you get it for nothing working for BOC,AIR PRODUCTS OR CALOR.You can test the thermostat in a bucket of water.
Question: I need an expert opinion, my Land Rover Discovery is having problems with the alarm? Let me start offf at the beginning, we have had our Land Rover for about a month it has a little over 100,000 miles on it. My husband took it to get an oil change on Tuesday { this week} at Pep boys. Later that day he noticed that the blinkers were not working, but the emergency lights were. We also had alot of rain that day and he drove through a deep puddle that caused the Discovery to shut off for about 45 minutes. When he got it stared again it sounded good and ran fine. Later that evening we went grocery shopping and activated our alarm before we went in the store. When we disengaged the alarm we got in and I noticed the indicator light was still flashing, my husband got in and started the Discovery thinking that the light would stop blinking; but then the engine started knocking and it just cut off. We tried to get it to start again; we even had a mechanic come and look at it, they said it wasn't getting any fuel as part of the anti theft mechanism. Is it the computer?
Answer: Sounds like a short somewhere is causing the anti-theft system to arm . Have you tried locking the doors manually then unlocking with the key? If that doesnt do it youve got an electrical issue that needs to be traced.
Question: tour de france problems for discovery? where is ther coverage on the web that will actually tell us what is going on with team discovery doing so badly and others so well. I have been to the team site and oln but not much info. I want real dirt on why we are doing so poorly?
Answer: Check Yahoo Sports and OLN.com
Question: what is the best 2nd hand land rover to buy. Iam interested in a discovery , and believe some have problems.? the vehicle is not to be more than 10 years old and not a v8 .thanks andrew.
Answer: I hate to tell you this, but ask any experienced technician, and you'll get the same response 95% of the time. Land Rovers are notorious for problems, ESPECIALLY older ones. They are ridiculously expensive to maintain, repair, and sometimes buy. The dealer I work at auctions off Land Rovers traded in, and never buys them to sell because no one wants them. You would be best with a different SUV. If you want a Luxury SUV go for a second or third year Lexus, Infiniti, or even an Acura. It will be a much more reliable vehicle.
Question: can i run a discovery tdi on veggie oil with no hard work involved and with no problems?
Answer: My last neighbor in Germany worked for Bosch. Head of engineering in fuel injection. Many a beer was downed discussing plant oils in diesel cars. As he explained the modern CDI/TDI diesel cars use extremely high pressure and extremely small injector holes to achieve optimal fuel/air mixing (atomization).
He was explaining that plant oils are too thick and will plug up the fuel injectors causing exspensive repairs.
Further never ever use bio-diesels unless your vehicle is designed to run them. These fuels use additives to thin the plant-oils. These additives are very aggressive to seals and gaskets that are not specifically designed to be used in bio-diesel systems. Funny part is most low end engines will run bio-diesel from the factory and exspensive vehicles require a retro fit.
V
Veggie oil is the reason that some many old (loud) diesels are being sought after and prices are climbing faster then a rocket. They will run most anything due to the simplicity of their systems.
Question: I have a dilemma, i have asked about my 1996 Discovery"s car problems,it needs an engine, should i dump it? i had asked yahoo before about problems w /this vehicle,Boy was I surprised at the response. My family say i should keep the car because it has an excellent body but the motor is shot and running on two cylinders. My mechanic says he can get me a new engine for $ 3200.00 but I feel like i can get a better deal by buying another car.Help need some advice.
Answer: dump it. The rest of the car is 11 years old...more stuff to break.
Question: problems with my land rover discovery? It starts fine after being left overnight but seems to have problems starting when warm. I've tried put new fuel filters, cleaned the sediment bowl, adjusted the tappits, changed the fuel return pipes, drained the fuel tank and put in fresh fuel but still no joy. Its a 1997 300 tdi. Any help much appreciated. Thanks in advance. P.S It runs fine once started.
Answer: need to check the fuel pressure, as the fuel pump has a pressure valve that if not working correctly could cause this.
Question: Problems atarting my discovery 300tdi 1995? Ive got a 1995 landrover discovery 300tdi and it will not turn over. Its defo not the starter motor and its got my hubby stumped. ANY IDEAS HELP!!!
Answer: If it's definitely not the starter, then is it the ignition switch feed to the starter motor? Run a jumper wire from the starter's solenoid terminal to the battery +ve to check. They're a very simple vehicle, but with the 300 if it has the CATS anti theft system, they are prone to going faulty.
I assume the ignition lights all come on & the battery is good.
If running a new wire to the solenoid works, then you'll have to bypass the CATS system with a wire from the ignition switch to the starter solenoid.
Question: discovery 300 tdi immobiler problems? I have a 300tdi which when I put the key in to start it sometimes it doesn,t turn over at all and Ihave to keep turning the key until it does on very few occasions I have had to wait 15minutes or so any sugestions
Answer: try getting a key cut, ( some times when they get old the transponder can play up a bit, this is a common problem with rover )
most reputable key cutting shops can programme the key,
if that does not work unfortunately you need an auto electrician to have a mess around with the wiring for the immobiliser
Question: What is one problem which the discovery of oil has caused for the nations of the Middle East and North Africa.? What is one problem which the discovery of oil has caused for the nations of the Middle East and North Africa?
Answer: It has made those countries' economies almost completely dependent on oil revenues, which is a finite resource with a highly variable value. As such, the economies of those countries go through wild and destabilizing fluctuations as the demand/price for oil goes up and down.

Question: Land Rover Discovery Series 1 1999 Problems? Hey guys. I have a Dicso 1 from 1999. We just recently put a new battery in it due to some starting problems from the cold. I went out to start it one day, and it was completely dead, didn't even unlock with the remote. So, I jumped it, no problem. After driving for awhile and parking, I can start it because the alternator charges it. But then if I wait too long, the battery is dead. I think something is draining the battery. It may be the security system, but it hasn't done this before. I have a back left light that is out and I replaced it and it didn't work, so there may be a short there draining it. But I replaced the light a long time ago and this just now started happening. So it may be that light, but I don't know. And it is very hard to jump now. I sat outside with a V6 car revving it for almost 30 minutes, and it wouldn't start. It was just slowly reving and reving and reving. I need help please!
I was about to put your plan into action, because it seemed very good, and I went out to the car, and got ready to jump it. I went to connect the red (+) terminal, and I realized it was loose. I freaked out because I knew that was the problem, got a wrench, tightened it and it started no problem. Thanks man!

Question: The discovery of penicillin is arguably one of the most important scientific discoveries of the 20th century.? The discovery of penicillin is arguably one of the most important scientific discoveries of the 20th century. In the years following this discovery, it was assumed that we had conquered bacterial infections and science moved onto other problems, like combating viral infections. However in recent years there has been a rise in infections caused by antibiotic resistant bacteria. How do bacteria develop antibiotic resistance? How can inappropriate use of antibiotics and other antibacterial products contribute to this problem? What should we do to combat it?
Answer: Some bacteria (Gram negative) have membranes outside their cell walls. Since Penicillin works by attacking cell walls, it does not work on these bacteria. Also, over-use of antibiotics created some bacteria that contain Plasmids, which are a small extra Rrna molecule inside the cell. This makes the bacteria antibiotic resistant. It's just survival of the fittest. Bacteria mutated to find ways to survive, just like other species.
Question: Any useful websites where I can get constant updates (problems, controversies, etc) on NHS? I was invited for an interview (for medicine) at Sheffield and it's at the end of January. I know that sounds a really long time away but i want to be fully prepared.
I would really appreciate if anyone here who's already been to an interview could tell me how you got yourself up to date and informed on all the recent medical discoveries, NHS problems, etc.
Thank-you so much in advance
Answer: Do you get the bus to school? If so, pick up a copy of the free paper every day and skim through it, ripping out any articles on healthcare. Or just have a look at the health section on the BBC website every week or so, to catch up on what's going on.
Make sure you understand exactly what the problem they're discussing is, and why it's controversial. And consider what you think about it. Commonly in the news are 'superbugs' (MRSA and Clostridium dificile), allowing private 'topping up' of treatment for NHS patients, and the ethics of an 'opt-out' policy for organ donation.
Good luck with your interview. It shouldn't be too difficult, the interviewers tend to be pretty nice, and it's more like a discussion than a quiz! They just want to know that you're interested, reasonably intelligent, and have an opinion. If you fit the bill, you should be ok!
Question: Land Rover Discovery Problem please help for a reward !? Land Rover Discovery Problem please help for a reward !?

original milage is kept at the ECU if there is a difference between ECu and the odometer it blinks... check the owners manual

Question: Problems with contacts and amazing discovery-what do you think? Ok I got RGP contact lenses and I have had huge problems with fluctuating vision and blurry vision. I thought maybe it was a wrong fit but even when I blinked and it seemed center I didn't always see that great. It seemed when I watered my eyes I usually saw better but not always. So I did an experiment. I tried to look through my contacts tilting my head different ways. If I tilted my head back and relaxed my elelids I could get the contact to wedge with my lids and I could see consistently good!! But only sometimes could I get this vision for like 2 seconds by blinking hard!
I just had an eye appointment and the doctor is going to make it a tighter fitting contact. Do you think that will be enough? I'm wondering if the edge of the contact is the wrong refraction. It doesn't seem like the contact is the wrong refraction because she put a .25 lens in front of it and it was too strong. What other options are there?
Lol, I love these typical answers. I have waste too much time and money waiting for doctors to finally figure out stuff. By the way I am moving soon so I have to get it right or else I have to redue the whole thing somewhere else.
Lol, putting them in the wrong way? Its a hard contact. There is no way to put them in the wrong way. And yes I need to follow my doctors advice, but you could say that with every optical question on yahoo answers. It's because patients want to be informed especially when doctors don't do a good job. Sorry, I'm too used to doctors being a failure for me and others. I guess I'll just be a helpless guinea pig now!
Answer: Let your Doctor do their job. That's what you pay them for, right?
