Advocate
Someone who helps and supports another person. An advocate will "take sides" and promote his or her client's view or interests.
Question: How would a austrian economists advocate closing a recessionary gap? I know that Austrians are ones to advocate the government keeping out of the market. However, since the business cycle has begun because of government established inflation, how would an austrian advocate getting out of the recession? I'm guessing they would advocate the government halt any sort of intervention and allow it to adjust itself. Am I right?
Answer: Austrians view entrepreneurship not just capital as the driving force in economic development. However they believe that money is not neutral in the short run so do not fundamentally disagree with monetarist about the cause of recessions. I do not think most Austrians are doctrinaire about the FED and government invention but many doubt that the Fed can time policy correctly.. Alan Greenspan was influenced by their views.
Question: How can women advocate groups not support Palin? Are these organizations really advocating women or ONLY women who have the same ideas as they do? If that's the case, shouldn't they be "liberal women advocate groups" since they don't support conservative women?
Well, if they want women to have the right to choose to abort a baby, then shouldn't they just be pro-choice organizations? And how can they think women are smart enough to have an abortion, but need to tell them who to vote for???
Answer: Because they dont support women, they support liberal ideas.
An even better question: How can women's groups be pro-choice but against prostitution??? Why can women only decide what is best for their bodies under certain scenarios???
Question: What are some groups that advocate for the environment that I can become involved in? I want to become an advocate for a cause relating to the environment, but I don't know which cause to choose. What are some groups that advocate for the environment that I can become involved in?
Answer: You can see the best results if you get involved with something local. What are the conservation efforts going on in your area? Are there waterways or other wildlife areas needing protection for which there are conservation groups? Is there a local group supporting recycling or alternative energy? In my experience, getting face time with other like minded individuals is better than just dealing with them online or over the phone. Check out your local library, or health food store, and you are likely to find someone who can lead you to a local group that would love to have you on their team!
Question: How can you advocate for smaller government but support foriegn wars of intervention? Why do some conservatives advocate for fiscal responsibility but never want to debate the merits of our current foreign policy?
War is the Health of the State.
Answer: Foreign Intervention has been part of America for many decades now. We love policing the world, especially when it comes to America's benefit. Maybe if we realized that they attack us because we are in their countries, we wouldn't be in this mess. Not because of our "freedom". wtf does that even mean? They attacked our "freedom"????
Question: How can Republicans advocate for their healthcare needs if they believe falsely that the government runs it? It's critical that they understand that they will need to continue to advocate to the insurance companies for their healthcare and that of loved ones since it will be run by insurance companies, not the government. False information can be costly when it comes to health issues. Many are under this false impression about the government running it?
Answer: Because they still have enough information on other aspects to make decisions.
Good question by the way.
It surprises me that so many Americans seem not to be aware about Obama’s healthcare plans [a]. During the election, he campaigned for these changes stating that he felt it was unfair to have a system where insurance companies try to escape paying claims and was elected to bring in changes [b].
First of all, too many people do not know that Obama wants to make insurance more available to all. His system is similar to that which works in Holland, Taiwan [c] and Switzerland. It works there and private healthcare companies provide most the insurance to the people there.
FACT - the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet [d].
FACT – insurance companies admit that they push up costs, buy politicians and do not pay out for many claims when they should [e].
FACT - the US has higher death rates for kids aged under five than western European countries with universal health coverage [f].
That means that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in Canada, France, the Netherlands, Cuba, Switzerland, Germany, Japan etc, all of which have universal health coverage. And no western European nation with universal healthcare has moved away from it. And the sad thing is, that the insurance companies have spent loads of money to fight these reforms [g] and loads of politicians are taking the thirty pieces of silver from them to fight the reforms, rather than fight for the health of the American people.
Remember, I back my facts up with evidence. Those who say they are wrong tend not to. If they are wrong, e-mail me with proof and let me know.
Question: How do I become an advocate for victims of sexual assault ?
I have been working for two years at my university through my Women's Center organization to educate students about sexual assault. I am very passionate about helping survivors of sexual assault and after my "dealing with sexual assault" training today I realized I want to turn my passion into my profession. I want to work as an advocate for survivors of sexual assault after I graduate this year and I have no idea how to go about that. Can anyone tell me?
Answer: You are a very special person to want to work advocating for victims (survivors :) of sexual assault. Perhaps the county board of social services has a helpline to get more information on volunteering (not sure about paid positions).
Here are a couple of websites that may offer more info:

Question: What kind of education to become an advocate? I am intersted in finding out what kind of education I would need to work for non-profit organizations that advocate for spouses of military service members. I am a former military spouse who struggled to get help for my soldier who returned home from combat with severe PTSD. I want to help other spouses/families who have the same struggles, as I can closely identify with them over their emptional state.
Answer: I think your interest and experience would be the most beneficial quality you could offer. Since it is kind of a select interest/job, most likely there is no educational requirement to advocate on someones behalf. Contact some local veterans hospital for additional information.

Question: How do I find a educational advocate for my child? I have an IEP meeting next week, and would like to find an advocate for my child. Those meetings are so intimidating and ambush-like in nature. My son has learning disabilities and always getting detention for offenses such as name-calling, disrupting classes, etc. How do I find a child advocate? I'm in south Orange County, Ca. Thanks!
Answer: Go for the advocate. Getting one for next week is probably unlikely though. As a teacher I would first say, well when was the last time that your child received a full evaluation. Children often act out when the work is too difficult. Secondly, I would say this. If a child's disability does not effect his disruption, name-calling and such, then he deserves the same punishment as the other kids who do the same thing. Kids, meaning ALL abled kids need to learn there is a right and a wrong way of behaving at school. It sets them up for a productive future in the workforce.
Question: What's the difference between Out Magazine and The Advocate? I know Out's a gay magazine but what's the difference from that one and the advocate? Cause I've never heard of it.
Answer: The Advocate is the worlds leading gay news source actually. It's first next to Out I believe. It's usually the choice of magazine that people want to come out in.
Question: Why do some corporate advocate conservatives actually get angry when you mention alternative fuel? - I say 'corporate advocate conservative' because they are not actual conservatives. These types are fine with government interference into he market as long as it helps the big corporations that control the market.
Answer: I don't. I'm all for alternative fuel sources. It won't end capitalism, but create more. What irks me is the government lies. "Cap and trade" is a scam designed by Obama, Fannie Mae(owns the patent on the system to trade CO2) Al Gore and Goldman-Sachs. They began the Chicago Climate Exchange in 2006 right before An Inconvenient Truth came out. You heard that, right? Obama set it all up, got the backing for it.
The government has been for years hiding alternative fuel sources and it makes no sense that libs demonize capitalism in support of a government that is in no way interested in saving the planet, but taxing the ef out of us. You want alternative energy sources. i suggest you look to the private sector. That is who will bring about this change, not the feds. The feds don't produce anything, but rely on our tax dollars for their very existence.
Question: How would you, as a UTILITARIAN Second Amendment advocate, argue for the defendant gun manufacturer? 2. After reading "Runaway Jury", consider the following scenario. You are on the jury. You are also a firm advocate of the right to bear arms. You are aware that the Second amendment of the Constitution reserves the right in conjunction with the need to man a state militia. How would you, as a UTILITARIAN Second Amendment advocate, argue for the defendant gun manufacturer?
Answer: Actually the 2nd amendment does not only have to do with the need to man a militia. The Supreme Court has had two recent rulings that specifically said that individuals have the right to bear arms, not just militias. Utilitarian has nothing to do with it.

Question: Why does Plato advocate for the system of philosopher-kings for his Kallipolis? Why does Plato advocate for the system of philosopher-kings for his Kallipolis?
Why does Plato advocate for the system of philosopher-kings for his Kallipolis?
How does it relate to his treatment of Socrates in the Apology and the Crito?
Any thoughts on this? I am struggling with this question and i will really thank you for your thoughts on it.
Answer: He was an elitist.
Plato did not think that the common man would "stand for" the rule of philosophers who merely sought to see to that man's own best interests.
Plato (perhaps correctly) felt that not only would the common man not understand the whole philosophy thing, but would likely revolt against it out of ignorance. Consequently, a ruler with such a mandate, ability and understanding must simply be installed.
