Sexual Abuse
The employment, use, persuasion, inducement, enticement, or coercion of any child to engage in, or assist any other person to engage in, any sexually explicit conduct or any simulation of such conduct for the purpose of producing any visual depiction of such conduct; or rape, and in cases of caretaker or inter-familial relationships, statutory rape, molestation, prostitution, or other form of sexual exploitation of children, or incest with children.
Question: Sexual Abuse? I have asked this question before, but I didn't like most of the answers, as they really didn't answer the question; they only attacked the offenders or presented other options. I have a neautral attitude towards attacking the offenders, and I don't mind the other options, but this didn't answer my question.
Here is the question again:
Do residency restrictions work to reduce prevent sexual abuse?
Do sex offender registries work to prevent sexual abuse?
Why or why not?
RESIDENCY RESTRICTIONS are restrictions on convicted offenders which prevent them from living in certain areas, or near parks, schools, zoos, etc.
Answer: I am not sure if the residency restrictions really get the hoped for results. But, I do think it is at least a move in some kind of direction to try and do something about the problem. The more laws that are made the more chance there is that the subject is getting needed attention and hopefully a real solution. it is in the getting attention that really makes the difference I think.I would also like to know if an offender is living close to me so i can do what I must to protect my children and so forth, in that way the law is good, as far as actually changing the behavior of the offender, probably not, he can just get his targets elsewhere as we all know. The hard truth of the matter is that it is a sickness and can never really be fixed. Almost without exception these offenders never change and the best we can hope for is lock up for life. anyhow i hope that answers your question if a way that is helpful to you.
Question: Sexual abuse? 35 years after the sexual abuse happened and you are again suffering from flash backs or anything to make you a disfunctional person solely because this had happened to you could you bring criminal charges against the offender? Serious answer's only please!!!!!!
Answer: No. There's a statute of limitations. In most states, it's no more than seven years.
I would suggest therapy. Stress can trigger PTSD, even years after the fact, and as someone who has suffered from PTSD...I can tell you that therapy can help!

Question: How can sexual abuse before the age of 2 have an impact on adult life? If repeated sexual abuse occurs and before the age of two, does it have the same general effects of child abuse that occurs when a child is older, and capable of creating memories? I am asking specifically about abuse that does not continue past the age of two or younger. I am interested in the effects (if any) of child abuse on children who cannot remember, and never will--not on those who have repressed memories.
Any citations of books or articles would be helpful.
Answer: There is more than one way to remember something. Our bodies remember, our Psyche's remember even if our conscious mind does not. I was sexually abused by a teenage boy who was in foster care with my family. It started a little after my first birthday and ended a little before my 2nd, the boy was removed from the home when my then foster mom caught him in the act. I was checked out by doctors and then a child psych who told my parents that I was under the age of 2 and would not remember it. But my body and my psyche did remember it, I screamed when any unknown man or male teen came in the room, I had horrible nightmares and banged my head against the wall in my sleep; I was a daredevil beyond the normal silly kid stuff. At two and a half I was adopted by my foster family and we all moved out of state. At five when I started kindergarten I had a hard time, I barely spoke, was unresponsive to most things, had teachers wondering if I was retarded, autistic etc , in this day and age the teachers would have picked up on PTSD but then it wasn’t even something they related to anyone but war veterans. I tried to kill myself more times than I can count first time being at eight years old. I cut, did drugs, drank and various other self destructive things, after I got out of the psych ward for the first time and talked to my parents a little bit about things I asked them why they didn’t help me when my brother went away. My mom burst into tears and told me that the doctors and psych had told them I would never remember what happened so it was better to never bring it up. I told them I didn’t remember what had happened until I was around nine. My conscious mind didn’t remember for a long time what had happened but my body and my psyche did and it affected my whole life in every way. From school, social, sleep, eating, drug and alcohol addiction, self harm, not able to form healthy relationships, panic attacks, not able to go out in public, intrusive thoughts and much more. I never had a normal childhood it was full of fear, panic, and horror. Even now 30ish years later it still affects me, I’m on disability and rarely leave the house without someone with me or my service dog in training. My life has been a living nightmare all because a psych told my parents I was under two I wouldn’t remember.
Question: What is the difference between sexual battery & sexual abuse? my sister in law thinks you can say F--K you to someone and you can be arrested for sexual battery or sexual abuse. i say more sexual harrassment than abuse or battery. her brother just got arrested for the battery-2 counts but she thinks he's gonna get out of jail? what do ya'll think. would like to hear a response from a professional .
Answer: Sexual battery normally involves some type of assault. Sexual abuse is normally just unwanted sexual contact.
Saying F--- You to someone is considered Disorderly Conduct, or in some rare cases, peace disturbance.
As to her brother getting out of jail? Depends upon the evidence against him, the quality of lawyer he hired, and the victim's desire to prosecute.
Question: what is covert child sexual abuse as opposed to overt sexual abuse according to the definitional? classifications and your opinion of course!do you think it is valid and damaging as a form of abuse as much as actual physical contact?as they say that it is the pyschological and emotional effects of physical abuse that is more damaging?is this also the case for sexual abuse?
Answer: Covert is secret and overt is out in the open. Both are damaging to children or adults. And it doesn't matter what type it is. Sexual abuse is more damaging in my opinion, because it not only messes with your physical body later in life, it also messes with your mind.
Question: What civilized countries have the highest rate of child sexual abuse? I can't find a comparative list anywhere. What of the major countries has the highest rates of child sexual abuse. A simple bar graph would be great or even a list of the top ten countries. For some reason I cant find this list anywhere. I get that the subject is vague but come on! I can find homicide rates and Burglary rates. Why can't I find child sexual abuse rates?
@George McCasland The problem with this answer is that I said Civilized country. Some third world hell hole doesn't count for this question.
Answer: Depends on your interpretation of child sexual abuse. The close physical contact between parents and their children in the Balkans would be considered child sexual abuse here. In certain cultures in India, mothers put their mouths over the genitals of male babies that are being especially fussy. Most boys in India remain within the family compound and do not get their first full set of clothes until age 7, when they start school. They simply run around naked. In the Amazon, sex play between young boys and girls is common among the tribes, right in the middle of the family hut.

good luck
Question: What type of counselors work with victims of sexual abuse? I am looking into changing my elementary education major to something just as rewarding? I have experienced sexual abuse as a child . It was very hard for me to overcome but I did. My mom had to pay $90 an hr for me to speak to a psychologist, who couldn't help me because she never experienced this. Now I am interesting in majoring in a field where I can help children who were sexually abused. I doubt that there is a counselor that specializes in this alone.
Answer: You can get your degree in any counseling field and then make sexual abuse your specialty. Once you graduate with a masters, you then must get CEUs every year to keep your license. Just get your CEUs in sexual abuse and that would make you a specialist. Seriously think about Social Work. In most states it is the fastest and most valuable way to become a therapist. As stated above, EMDR is effective and you could be certified after your have your masters in any counseling field.
Question: What effects can child sexual abuse hold on an male adult who did not mention this trauma as a child? I would prefer to understand how he would behave if I discussed these issue with him.
What effects would child sexual abuse have on him?
Would he be suicidal or hold symptoms of depression?
He has mentioned suicide on a few occasions along with suicide attempts and thoughts.
How do I know if he is exaggerating or seeking attention?
Answer: There is no way to predict how this person would act if the subject was brought up. It's a very touchy situation and needs to be handled with a great deal of care and empathy. Abuse can do all sorts of things to a person including depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, anger, agression...many many things. There is no way to know if him mentioning suicide is real or exagerrated till it's too late. It's better to assume it's real.
Question: How do you address cases of child sexual abuse in your school? How do you address cases of child sexual abuse in your school?
How do you address cases of child sexual abuse in your school?
Answer: Report it immediately to the police and any other authority that will listen- and don't shut up about it until someone does something.
When I was in primary school - I was aware of a case of sexual abuse which occurred at the school. The principal handled the situation by burying his head in the sand. Nothing happened to the perpetrator. The 2 victims lives were messed up forever. The kids that knew no-one was punished for it kind of lost trust in the adults around us- like the principal who failed to act.
Question: What is the difference, in terms of law, between sexual abuse and molestation? I used to go to school with this boy, who is 17. He was in my class for 2 years and he lived in my neighborhood. Recently, he robbed a local fast food restaurant. Only then did I find out that in 2007, he "sexually abused" a 8 year old. They told him he is a registered sex offender. They were supposed to send him to jail for a year for the sexual abuse, but the suspended his sentence. In terms of the law, what is the difference between sexual abuse and molestation? I'm so confused over this whole thing.

Question: What makes a girl a target for sexual abuse? What, if anything, makes a girl a target for sexual abuse? Is it random, the way she dresses or acts or carries herself?
Answer: It could be all of the above. It could be none of the above. Sexual Predators are not all alike. Some go for girls with self issues. Some don't have preferences. I was a target of sexual abuse when I was 16. I wasn't trying to be "sexy", I just wanted a dad. This person knew me from age 8. I thought he was my "dad". I had no idea what happened. Because this wasn't the only time, even though it also happened with someone else, I thought it was me. I deal with that every day, thinking, maybe it was my fault. Maybe I allowed it because I was scared. I am 22 now and it still bothers me. I don't know what I did. I guess never having a father gave him an incentive to "play that role and do what he did". I don't know if you are or have been a victim but it's not your fault. And you could not have stopped it.
Question: How do I find a therapist that specializes in sexual abuse survivors? I am an adult dealing with the effects of childhood sexual abuse. How do I find a therapist that specializes in this area? I live in Delaware, and have easy access to South Jersey if there aren't any here.
Answer: Beth the best way to find a specialist is to call the Administrator of Mental Health in your area (in the Blue Pages) and explain they issue you are wanting to address in therapy. Also if you have a United Way in your area they are very effective at finding specialists. God Bless Reggie
p.s. also you can go on site at NAMI.org and look someone up that way. National Association Mental Health orginatization- top contributor with issues.

Question: Thoughts of sexual abuse keep running over my mind, should I try speak to someone? How can I get through the next 2 weeks without speaking to my counselor about sexual abuse when the thought of it keeps running through my head 24/7? Should I try speak to someone else?
Answer: I think we're a little confused as to what you mean here.
What exactly do you mean when you say "thoughts of sexual abuse"? Do you mean that you have memories of prior sexual abuse, or that you have an urge to abuse someone else?
Actually, in either case, you really need to talk to a therapist, and SOON! And why this specific reference to "2 weeks"?
This needs to be talked about, processed, and resolved.
Question: Where is the proof that the sexual abuse of boys is being downplayed by feminist? I just read an answer to a question that said the sexual abuse of boys is being downplayed by feminist. I have never ever heard of that but maybe a couple other times by some of the people on this forum. But yet they never show proof or legitimate links that prove this is happening. And when they do provide us with links it is always a link created by an anti-feminist or a person who claims they are an MRA.
Answer: For decades upon decades, every part of Western society has denied that sexual abuse of children occurred; and if it was admitted, it had to be a "degenerate, poor" family or a stranger. The first people to be willing to admit sexual abuse occurred and were willing to work with sexually and physically abused women, children, men, lesbians, and gays, were feminists. I find it deeply offensive that anti-fem's self-righteously claim that "all" feminists downplay the sexual abuse of boys, when anti-fem's such as the Catholic church have ruined hundreds of lives because of their refusal to deal with the sexual abuse going on in their extremely sexist and anti-feminist church. Not that the Catholic church is the only religious, social, or political organization that has minimized or refused to deal with pedophiles or sexual abuse of girls or boys, but they are a prime example right now. Why are feminists accused and not the true culprits who really were indifferent, and have spent millions to cover up sexual abuse??
I happen to know many survivors of sexual abuse, and find the sexual exploitation of girls, boys, men or women repulsive, and find it disgusting that anti-fem's complain about the indifference of feminists, when feminists are working with sexual abuse survivors, unlike anti-fems. Folks working with incest and sexual abuse survivors constantly seek male supporters for male victims, but it seems anti-fem's are all talk, no action.
Here's a discussion of the history of sexual abuse and denial by anti-feminists in our culture, provided by the Boston Women's Health Book Collective: http://www.feminist.com/resources/ourbod…
