Question: As a wholesale company, is it legal for us to charge customers a fee for credit card processing on purchases? The owner here is charged for processing credit cards for orders and he wants to pass along this charge (4%) to his customers, is this allowed?
Answer: Check you agreement with your credit card companies to make sure, but I don't believe it is.
Question: What's another name for the person who's in charge of processing in a business? I am currently on the board of a high school student-run business. We sell bags of fruits and vegetables to the staff members at school and the community. We have a President, Vice President, Nutritionist, Secretary, Accountant, and a person in charge of processing. The person in charge of processing makes sure that all the customer information is correct and that every customer receives their order. This person makes and gathers information from surveys. They also have to make sure that the fruits and vegetables are where they need to be.What's another name for them other than "Head of Processing"?
Answer: Sales Manager.
Question: Is it legal for merchants to charge credit card processing fees to the consumer? Have frequently experienced this with travel agencies when I use my credit card. The processing fee of 2% is charged to me, thus would end up using Nets to avoid it. There is also a fear that the business may wind up after you pay upfront. Can any action be taken against them? Who are the watchdogs that I can report this to?
Answer: u need to ask them first before u allow them to swipe ur card,
and yes it is legal, but u can always negotiate.
Question: Are credit card companies that charge a processing fee legit? I never took one of these credit card offers I got over the phone or on the internet, but I was always curious about them. I received calls when I was 18 saying that I was approved for a credit card to help get me started building credit, but I had to pay a processing fee usually between 80-200 dollars, and after I paid a good faith estimate and used the card for a month or so it would be credited to my first statement.
I thought these sounded too risky so I always told them I wasn't interested, but I always wondered if these were scams or they just charged the fee because I had no credit yet and they were trying to see if I was willing to prepay the first 100-200 dollars.
I ended up getting a college student credit card from citibank and built up great credit in the last 3 years and have several low interest rate credit cards and charge cards that I find useful and pay on-time.
Answer: They may be legit, but I consider them to be toxic waste and fully approve of how you have handled the matter.
Question: is it illegal to charge the processing fee to clients when they use the credit card? We have a small business and I was wondering is it illegal to charge the client the 3% that the credit card machine charges us? Please tell me where I can find the answer so I can show it to my accounting department.
Answer: Illegal no, but it is a violation of your agreement with the credit card companies.
Most businesses get around this by simply offering a discount for people that pay with cash.
This way your covered both ways.
Question: How much do payment processing companies (for e-commerce) charge to the merchant? I want to start an e-commerce and need an idea what fees (approximately) payment processing companies (such as ogone) charge the merchant. If it is too expensive I would consider Paypal which does look less professional.
Answer: > Setup fee: A lot of payment companies charge you a setup fee when you register with them.
> Account maintenance fee: Some companies charge a monthly/annual maintenance fees.
> Processing fee: You also need to pay processing charge for every transactions.
> Security deposit: Some companies require you to pay security deposit.
> Withdraw charge: Some companies charge a fee when you withdraw money.
All above fees (whether applicable or not for your processing company) vary depending on company.
If you are a beginner, Paypal is best way to start as they are less expensive (no setup fee, no security deposit) to start considering other companies.
Question: Can a company processing your credit card, charge a processing fee? I heard this was illegal. What's the deal? I'm trying to pay somebody over the phone and they want to charge an additional 2%.
Answer: If you are paying taxes by credit card, they can charge a fee.
If you are buying a widget, you will hit a stumbling block. US state laws and their credit card contract state that they cannot have a surcharge just because you paid with a credit card. They can, however, have a discounted price for cash purchases. (The laws are different in other countries.)
Logically the math works out the same, but the idea is that if they advertise a price as $100, they can't claim after the fact that's the discounted price and that you must pay $102 if you pay by credit card.
(Keep in mind, it *does* cost the seller money to accept a credit card. For small sellers this can make/break the profit on a sale. I generally don't argue the point.)

Question: Can a mortgage company charge a lender processing fee at settlement? I did 100% financing and was charge 1200 dollars for a lender processing fee. Someone told me that they are not allowed to charge a lender processing fee. Is this true?
Answer: Yes they can charge you that, but it should be reflected on your good faith estimate prior to the closing.
Lender's don't charge a processing fee however. Normally they have doc prep, underwriting, tax service, credit report, flood cert. Brokers charge processing but anything over a couple hundred dollars is pretty steep. They are normally the ones who add fees and try to hit you for more at the table.
You can challenge the fee since I'm guessing you already closed. I think you can file a claim with the department of financial institutions in your state.

Question: Does American Express charge a processing fee to check the balance on a gift card? I have read the paper it comes with, checked the website. All I can get from it is that they have the ability to change the contract at will and do not have to leave notification. Can anyone direct me to a source with the answer or if you know the answer that would be great. Thanks for any and all help
Answer: Usually there is no charge for using it except when you go into a restaurant, If you do not add the tip with the gift card, they will automatically add it themselves. My wife asked the same question and that was the answer and it balanced to the penny. They put the sum back on the gift card. Nice way to get a doubt tip if you don't check the balance
Question: Are event ticket sellers right to charge a "processing fee" on top of the charge of the ticket? How can a £5 processing fee on top of an already expensive £40 ticket be justified? Where does that extra money go to? After all they're only putting a ticket in an envelope and posting it! It's especially annoying when you buy 2 tickets and get the same fee on both tickets.
Answer: They are probably right to charge some type of processing fee. The ticket prices are high, but that money goes to the performer and the venue. The processing fee covers the employees salary who put the tickets in the envelope, building overhead, website and marketing. So they can charge a fee...it is debatable as to how much. Some times it is too much, but I can understand a small processing fee.
Question: What is the word that describes the process of businesses taking charge of all of the processing steps? What is the word that describes the process of businesses taking all of the processing steps and overseeing them all in one total company?
Answer: Vertical Integration.
Question: What do people charge for word processing? I have been apporached again by a friend??, who wants me to work for her again. I told her I would only do some word processing for her. I want to have her pay me up front, and she can then wait for her clients to pay her.
What are the going rates for word processing, proofing, set-up etc.
Thanks.....
Answer: Depends on the complexity of the layout, if there are tables, frames etc.
I would work out what hourly rate you would be happy to work for as an initial guide and use that. If you get repeat work you should be able to work out a per page or per project cost.
Good luck

Question: Do credit card companies charge a processing fee to credit back someone's card?
Answer: It depends on whether you mean from the cardholder's point of view or the merchants point of view.
If you are the card holder there are no charges for the process of having a refund issued to your card. You still will have to pay any accrued interest for that charge if the refund occurred after your first billing date since the purchase was made but otherwise there is no cost to you.
If you are a merchant and issuing a refund you will incur a fee for issuing a refund. How much that fee is will depend on the rate structure of your merchant account but it usually is the same as your transaction fee for purchases. They do not charge a percentage like to they for sales so you would be looking at a fee of anywhere from 15¢ to 30¢.
