what is equivalent of it in California? What is different that Texas is doing from the rest of the country? what purpose does this agency serve?
Answer: The EDD or Emplyment Development Department. Working with the EDD is the WIB or Workforce Investment Board. Both are in each California county for the most part.
Question: Should the State Employees Who Took Personal info go to Jail? Utah officials have identified at least two state employees who are believed to be involved in creating a public listing of some 1,300 purported illegal immigrants.
Two employees of Utah’s Department of Workforce Services (DWS) have been placed on administrative leave pending completion of the full investigation. The workers could face fines, termination and/or criminal charges.
The list, which went out to state and federal enforcement officials as well as to local media outlets and state political leaders, came with a note urging that all the people included on it be deported even though follow-up press reports have indicated that some of the names belong to legal residents of the United States.
Local and national anti-illegal-immigration groups tell Yahoo! News they are not responsible for the move. But the groups don't uniformly condemn publishing the anonymous accusations — which in turn bespeaks a revealing split in just how far different groups are willing to go in their push for more aggressive enforcement against illegal immigrants.
Ron Mortensen, co-founder of the Utah Coalition on Illegal Immigration, says he objects to the list because there is "no justification" for releasing someone's private information.
The list contained some Social Security numbers, addresses, dates of birth, and phone numbers of people — including 200 children — it accused of being in the country illegally. A letter from the anonymous group Concerned Citizens for the United States attached to the list also pointed out that six women on the list were pregnant and should be deported immediately.
Following the document’s release, Governor Gary R. Herbert directed all state agencies to conduct an internal review. The DWS quickly drew attention in light of its database, containing data for Medicaid, food stamp programs and unemployment benefits. That type of information was discovered on the list.
“When someone does business with the state of Utah, they deserve to know that their private information will be kept private,” Herbert said Friday.
Bob Dane, a spokesman for Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), backed away from the vigilante tactic. He told Yahoo! News that his organization encourages people to report illegal immigrants to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) tip line. "If citizens want to help fight illegal immigration, use the tip line. And pressure politicians to enforce the laws,"
PPL are reading that Americans SSN numbers were taken right? And you still say they are heros? Even kids?
Answer: lock them up for a good 20 years.

HOW DID THEY KNOW WHO WAS illEGAL AND WHO WASN'T?
Answer: Under state law, there are penalties and consequences for giving out private information that is kept under wraps for privacy reasons.
Going to JAIL, facing a $250,000 fine, and wrecking your job chances once you get out isn't worth this kind of headache.
Why would you want to give medals to people whom break the law?
Question: what population of the U.S. workforce works for a governemtal agency or are civil servants? How many governemtn employees are there, including federal, state, county, city, schools?

There are 145.9 million employed persons. 22.4 million are Gov't employees.

Question: I know that unemployment benefits are paid by the former employer, but who pays the state's unemployment...? I know that unemployment benefits are paid by the former employer, but who pays the state's unemployment offices and workers? For example, the Agency for Workforce Innovation, since it's a governmental department - do the tax payers pay for this or do all businesses pay for this via unemployment insurance/benefits? Please let me know.
Answer: im not 100% sure but. employers and employees pay edd. that money goes into a state account. if you do not use unemployment because you didn't lose your job then the state keeps it. traditionally when you and a group of people pay insurance not every one makes a claim at the same time so they can operate on whats left over. however with the gov. if there is money left over the spend/wast it on whatever they want. that happened it CA were i live. B4 the recession the state had a bunch of extra money from unemployment that wasn't used. the people started to get laid off and filing vlaims. CA spent the EDD money so they had to ask the FEDS for a lone and the feds have to fund EDD because unemployment insurance is a law.
Question: Workforce initiative job search resource agency has anyone got actual job placement from a veterans rep? These Veteran representatives are state sponcered with federal funds to help veterans become employed! I am looking for responses from veterans who have utilized this service & the results.
Answer: I have worked with them in the past and never got anything from them. I have tried them for a total of 8 months.
Question: is this a example of of the jobs obamas created ?and a example of how employment wont go over 8%? As the Florida labor market struggles through the longest economic downturn since the Great Depression, business is booming in one place.
The state Agency for Workforce Innovation, which administers Florida's unemployment program, is looking to hire about 150 people in the next few months to accommodate the additional demand placed on the agency.
The temporary positions will be based primarily in Tallahassee and Fort Lauderdale. Workers will be hired to process unemployment claims, determine applicant eligibility and handle appeals from those denied benefits.
Pay range is from $12.51 to $19.27 an hour, according the agency. Florida's minimum wage is $7.25 an hour.
Tuesday, agency officials were expected to ask the Florida Legislature for authority to use about $8.6 million in federal money to hire the workers. It comes from a grant approved near the end of the 2009 legislative session.
As unemployment in Florida has grown – it now stands at 10.7 percent with new numbers due Friday – the state has struggled to provide timely service to the state's jobless
Answer: Yes, the same type of economics are being worked in Michigan, except we have far surpassed that point, they have created new jobs for social workers in the welfare office because the majority of people have run out of unemployment benefits, but they did cut some government workers. 50 people have been laid off from the post office. I guess you will see them in line with all the welfare recipients in the near future. Jennifer Granholm replaced the automotive industry with walmart in this state. Yup, this is really working out for the American people. Welcome to an 18% unemployment rate coming to your town soon. ;-)
Question: Do I report my former employer to the workforce commission? The company I used to work for ( I left there in February) still owes me $200 in reimbursements that I filed for in January when I was still with the company. They haven't refused to pay me but they have been giving me the runaround for almost 7 months.
I have even contacted the vice president of the company who courteously passed the buck.
To what agency do I report their unprofessional practices?
FYI, this is in the state of New Mexico.
Answer: First I'd ask the Director of Human Resources to explain why you're not getting the reimbursement. Tell him you'd like his explanation in writing. If he refuses don't say anything, just immediately go to the Department of Labor and tell them a prior employer is withholding compensation. Don't give him any warning!
If he does provide a written explanation that means the company has some policy which addresses your situation. But even then you may still have a case. Take the explanation to the Department of Labor and explain the situation.
Question: Why do Republicans have no compassion for the unemployed and struggling? Sen. Jim Bunning continues to object to extending unemployment benefits. On Monday, the Kentucky Republican once again prevented a vote on a bill that would extend eligibility for enhanced unemployment benefits and subsidized health insurance for laid-off workers by 30 days.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) asked for unanimous consent to move forward with the bill. If Congress fails to pass an extension, the National Employment Law Project estimates that 1.2 million people will lose their benefits in March.
"Six times last week, Democrats asked to extend their unemployment benefits for a short time while they work on a longer extension," Reid said. "Six times, Republicans said no. They didn't just say no to us, that is members of the Senate. They said no to their families in their own states and all our states count on us to act when we need action. They count on us to respond in the event of an emergency. This is an emergency. The Republicans in the Senate are standing between these families and the help they need while these benefits expire and expired."
Make it seven. After Reid spoke, Bunning raised his objection and blamed the Democrats for failing to extend benefits with an earlier bill that Reid scrapped. He repeated his insistence that the Senate not add an additional $10 billion to the deficit.
"Just a brief explanation of why we are where we're at with this extension bill, the brief extension of 30 days," said Bunning. "There was an agreement between the majority leader of the Finance Committee and the minority leader in the Finance Committee, Sens. Baucus and Grassley, on a three-month extension of these very same provisions. There were more provisions in the bill also. It cost a little more than the the $10 billion that is asked for because it was a three-month extension. Senator Reid pulled that bill from the floor of the U.S. Senate. He did it. The leader of the Democrats pulled that bill from the floor. I support extending unemployment benefits, COBRA benefits, flood insurance, highway bill fix, doc fix, small business loans, distant network television for satellite viewers. If we can't find $10 billion to pay for something that we all support, we will never pay for anything on the floor of this U.S. Senate."
The bill under consideration provides a stop-gap 30 day extension for several other expiring laws, including funding for highway projects that employed 2,000 people until Monday, improved Medicare reimbursement rates (known as "doc fix"), flood insurance, and licensing that allows satellite TV providers to carry local channels in rural areas where they are unavailable with an antenna. Reid said nearly 1.5 million people in rural access would lose access to their local channels today. (DirecTV did not immediately respond to a request for comment.)
Even if Senate Democrats get around Bunning and pass an extension this week, some recipients of unemployment benefits could miss a check. Before last week, workforce agencies in some states were already sending out letters notifying recipients that they would be ineligible for any of the federally-funded "tiers" of additional benefits provided by the stimulus bill. Eligibility for those benefits ended on Feb. 28; the bill under consideration would push the deadline back to April 5.
Answer: I own a construction company and my wife receives EIC. However, it does not affect us directly for she is soon to be back in school furthering her education. I can tell you, for my my area of the state there is no jobs for people to be hired on at. In fact, the stats say there is 11.5 million on UI and EIC. Then add in those who already lost their UI and EIC last fall, the ones who didn't qualify for UI and those on welfare. The number rises somewhere between 40 to 50% of possible working Americans in the U.S. out of work.
I agree we need to find common ground to halt the national debt, but stopping EIC is wrong! With 11.5 million depending on it, that is also 11.5 million families depending on it. Stop it now is the same as signing a death warrant on these people and the people who still have a job. Homes will be lost, kids will go hungry and people will die of no insurance (for those who can even afford COBRA in the 1st place).
Republican Senator Jim Bunning of KY is retiring, good thing for he would NOT be re-elected after this stunt. This isn't a sports game, it is the only thing these people are surviving on. Companies are still cutting jobs, closing the doors and outsourcing. To tell me people is just too lazy to get a job, I will tell it like it is to their face. They are wrong and to stupid and blind to realize it.
Question: What is the purpose (in the business world) of temp agencies like Kelly Services? I really cannot figure out why these agencies exist except to screw over workers by forcing them to be "flexible" and basically to allow companies to have a qualified workforce at its disposal 24 hours a day, to hell with the *workers'* job security or benefits.
I ask because, in the area of the Midwest where I live (a town of about 60,000), there's just a glut of job hiring through temp agencies, but considerably less direct hiring. Temp agencies are allowed to list their jobs over and over on state-sponsored job-listing websites, which makes it difficult to search for or find REAL job listings.
Answer: Yes, they expect agency employees to be flexible, they pay a better hourly rate then a staff employee would make. Usually they only call upon supplemental help when they are short staffed. I think it is rather clever myself.
Question: Does Anyone Else Have This Problem With Staffing Agencies ? I have lived in different states over the years and have found this general attitude from agencies to be universal. I was under the impression that staffing agencies (temp agencies) services are to be utilized in the event if a person is between jobs, waiting to get an interview with for a permanent job or trying to gain experience in the workforce. The problem is everytime I call different agencies its the same story, "Email us your resume and if its a good fit with what our client wants, we'll send you some testing." After contacting them then its, "Your test scores were great, we'll call you no need to call us back as we have a high volume of calls coming in." Or when calling around asking if there is work available the agents have nasty attitudes and treat you like you are worth nothing more than the dirt on the bottom of their shoe. When are these staffing agents going to realize that if it weren't for people looking for work they would NOT have jobs? They should be eliminated.
Answer: I most definately agree. What I enjoy doing is turning the tables on them and asking them what they can do for me? I've also noticed that looking for a permanet placement through them can be difficult because of their HIGH priced buy out fees that are non-negociable. I can't tell you the number of possibilites I've lost because of that. AND they screw you over with unemployment if you're in between assignments... they take it to the utmost appeals court just to avoid paying you.... but if your willing to stick it out and fight you can get something in the end. Placement agencies are of the devil and belong in hell.
Question: What do you think of Postville kosher slaughterhouse fined nearly $10 million in fines ? DES MOINES, Iowa -- A state labor agency has fined a Postville kosher slaughterhouse nearly $10 million for alleged wage violations, the largest such fine against a company in state history.
Since advocates and La Raza claim the illegals do not know it is wrong to buy or use stolen documents ?
Labor Commissioner Dave Neil assessed the civil penalties against Agriprocessors for what he called repeated violations of Iowa's wage laws from January 2006 to June 2008.
"Once again, Agriprocessors has demonstrated a complete disregard for Iowa law," Neil said in a written statement. "This continued course of violations is a black mark on Iowa's business community."
Iowa Workforce Development, the state's labor agency, spent months before and after a massive May 12 immigration raid examining internal company documents, said agency spokeswoman Kerry Koonce. Documents included time sheets, payroll and wage stubs, she said.
The penalties include $339,700 for the alleged illegal deduction of "sales tax/miscellaneous" costs nearly 3,400 times; $9.6 million for illegally deducting money from 2,001 employees for protective clothing more than 96,000 times; and failing to pay 42 employees their last paychecks on May 16 and May 23, following the immigration raid.
The civil penalties totaled $9.99 million.
An Agriprocessors spokesman didn't immediately return a telephone call seeking comment. The company has 30 days to contest the proposed fines.
The fines are the latest trouble for Agriprocessors since the May raid in which 389 people were arrested.
In August, Iowa Workforce Development also fined Agriprocessors $101,000 for alleged safety violations. At the time, that was the second-largest of the year -- behind another Agriprocessors citation in March for $182,000.
"It seems to be a trend with Agriprocessors," Koonce said.
In September, the owner and managers of the plant were charged with 9,311 misdemeanors alleging they illegally hired minors and let children younger than 16 handle dangerous equipment. The complaint filed by the Iowa attorney general's office said the violations involved 32 illegal-immigrant children younger than 18, including seven who were not yet 16.

Question: Are you better off with a tax dollar back in your pocket or a safe food supply? Or is this one of those "personal responsibility" issues where the smart consumer relies on their own bacterial cultures before eating instead of that nanny-state USDA?
""2005 "Risk based Inspections": ""Far from a minor adjustment intended to maximize food safety, this plan is really being used as a way to reduce the USDA’s budget. The changes in the way inspectors are assigned to meat and poultry plants would make current inspector shortages permanent, effectively shrinking the size of the agency’s frontline inspection workforce.""
Answer: Yes and Yes...
Question: what does it take? what does it take to get a job?
Ive tried temp agencies, had previous jobs maybe 5 tops some lasting no longer than 4 to 5 months because of contracts ending, the states workforce wont even help out they just send me to a computer and then they talk all day, the general labor jobs are all taken by the adults and im going on 7 almost 8 months unemployed, so What does it take to get a job?
when your broke, having to go back to living in your parents house and cant even go back to school, what do you do?
Answer: Try fast food. Places like that are always hiring and even though they pay low fast food places love to give overtime.

Elina..I wish to ask you a few things basedon what you said. You made great points.
Answer: Here's my constructive critisim. I see some terrible resumes, yours is ok but could be better.
I would get rid of the Objective, it's just a waste of time. Resumes should be simple and straight to the point. They get skimmed over, paragraphs don't get read.
I would bullet point your computer skills and rename it Skills and list some other skills you have as well, you can combine some of the computer skills so it's not too long such as Microsoft Office covers a few. Personally, I would just put Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office applications and Adobe Photoshop. Add other skills like cash handling, organisational skills, etc..
Education I would add the start year of your course i.e. 08/2007 - 06/2012 it explains what you were doing during that time. Even just 2007 - 2011 is enough. I would also add your high school and what year you graduated, if you got excellent grades or a GPA (I think that what you call it) list it too. As long as it's in the top 25% then it's worth listing. Also do you have a major? You should list it if you do.
I would put the languages under skills, such as fluent in spanish..
The awards part doesn't look right to me.. Did you get any awards in high school you can add to it, if not remove it altogether.
I like the format of your experience, I would call it Experience and Competencies.. Some could be reworded better.. Like " Answering customers’ concerns about a product and/or policy of the store" should be - Answer customer enquires and a second point for - Having an indepth knowledge of store policys.. Actually, a lot of it needs rewording, it sounds a little immature. I'd be happy to do it for you.
For the order I would have..
Personal (I'm assuming you have this and just removed it for privacy reasons)
- Name
- Address
- Contact numbers
- Email
- Date of Birth (optional, though helps to explain your level of experience, I would have it there for now)
Skills
Education
Experience - As you get more experience this would jump your education but for now it's best this way.
Referees - They don't ring these until they have short listed or usually if you're successful but I prefer them to be there then to have to ask for them and scribble them down. Saves you bringing the details to the interview too.. 2 -3 referees with name, position, phone number and email if available.
To your question.. I don't believe your resume if why you haven't heard. There is lots of competition and if they're after juniors they can train up, you're too experienced. Otherwise, I can see you haven't stayed too long in most of your jobs, which does ask questions too. I wouldn't fret, it's just a competitive market at the moment..
Best of luck and feel free to ask me any questions.

Question: What is the proper procedure in applying for a job in Ireland? I have an email, and they told me that I can work in Ireland and their is a ready employer waiting for me and willing to hire me. all I need to do is get a registration number to the State of the Workforce Office. They give me also an agency that can process some of the needed documents. Docs like European CV format, Work permission application form, Motivation letter & Personal registration number from the foreign work force office. But i have to pay 32euro for their services. Registration number is the first step, I need to get it first before they refer myself to the said employer. Then, if ever I have an registration number, I send the documents to the employer. Is it a Scam?
Answer: 1) In the last bit of your post, you say you need to pay the registration before they refer you to the employer. Earlier on you state that there is an employer ready, waiting and willing to hire you.
This is a contradiction in itself. How can the company want to hire you if they haven't even heard of you because the agency hasn't told them about you yet?
2) The way recruitment agencies work is ALWAYS free to the candidate, it is the employer who pays their fees, therefore, if this was genuine, it would be the employer paying the €32 fee, not you.
3) You can bet your *** one of two things would happen: the most likely scenario is that the €32 is only the tip of the iceberg, once they get this they will start demanding more and more money off you, before leaving you high and dry, or as Orla C said, they will get you to Ireland under false pretenses before selling you into the sex trade.
So as you suspected, this is definitely a scam, and I suggest you report whichever lowlife sent you this to the authorities and let them deal with it.
In terms of actually coming to Ireland, the way it works is this:
Employers must consider Irish applicants first for any vacancies they may have. If no Irish candidates are found, then they will then consider applicants from any of the other European Union countries. Only in the highly unlikely case that they still cannot find anyone will they look further afield, so unfortunately it is very unlikely you would be able to gain employment in Ireland at the moment due to the current economic climate (I'm basing this on the fact that Yahoo says your question was posted from the Philippines)
