Question: Generally speaking, do most 401k plans allow the participant to invest in individual stocks? And by individual stocks, I don't mean the company's stock. I'm talking about non-employer stocks traded on an exchange.
In addition, do most 401k plans allow the participant invest in any mutual fund of his/her choice? Or do most 401k plans offer only a limited mutual fund selection?
*I know plans vary. But, this is just a general question.
Answer: No, it's not always investing in stocks. It all depends on what your company offers.
Question: What does it mean to be an equal participant in a relationship? I'm wondering how you would describe what it means to you to be an equal participant. I realized that I generally feel what is probably more than my share of responsibility for my relationships with others, so I'm looking for some different perspectives to think about.
Answer: What Doodle said and then extending it beyond doing things, but into respect for one another.
Value your own thoughts and opinions as well your spouses.
Problems are causes by all four cases, under/over valuing yourself and under/over valuing your partner.
Self-over + Them-over -> Fights
Self-under + Them-over -> 'Under-functioning' you allow/encourage them to take care of your responsibilities.
Self-over + Them-under -> -> 'Over-functioning', you insist on doing 'too much' for them
Self-under + Them-under -> Distance, you drift apart
As you make changes in your live together seeking balance you will likely experience all of these things.
If things are 'even' you won't feel guilt and can't induce shame because you /know/ you are taking care of your responsibilities.
Little of this has anything to do with 'equal', as in 50/50.
Different people are different and can contribute easier to the total in different ways.
e.g. I hate gather up laundry. My wife hates carrying it down the stairs and putting it into the washer.
If we demanded '50/50' we would do what? Trade-off days we did the chore?
How about she gathers it and I put it in the washer and we don't keep 'score'.
Question: How do my business partner and I split the participant fee from leads that come in off PR that I have written? We are holding sales seminars. I will write the PR and publish it in the surrounding newspapers. Do we split the participant fees 50/50 if they come to us via the paper? Is that fair? Do I take the first one as a payment for the time and trouble of writing the PR and getting it out there? Do we take turns writing the PR? Is there any model for this? Thank you.
Answer: You gotta look at the overall picture and ask yourself what value your partner brings to the business. Is it greater or equal to the net value you can do alone, with another partner or employee who will do it for less? If you are paying all the expenses, then you deserve a higher return on the profits like say, 60/40, unless of course, your partner's skill brings in a lot more profit than you or equally to you,and / or has some skill that nobody possibly could have, in which case it should be 50/50. Writing and publishing ads is not something you can do one week and your partner the next week. It requires the person with the most talent to write it in order to get the best responses, and publised for the best price. If you are the most skilled, you can work on it together by having your partner write the ad and you editing it and authorizing it to be publsihed or visa versa.

Question: What should I put in a youth participant pack? I'm setting up an LGBT Youth Project and want to give the young people participating something to remember is by so I decided on a participant pack. What should I put in it so far I have...
Project t shirt, sticker, pin badge, certificate, disposable camera and leaflets from the funders and youth groups in the area they live.
Answer: Perhaps a list of pro-gay web-sites, in addition to the funder's and local youth groups. Could include health, safety and legal service providers, for example, as well as other contact information.
Any positive role model information, or educational video/movies. Safer sex information would be useful too, as well as information on coming out: other's experiences and pro's and con;s. All these in addition to the great items that you have already - and the wrist band is fantastic too.
Hope this helps. Good luck! Rob

Question: In the day-to-day foreign exchange market what type of market participant demands the euro? 1. In the day-to-day foreign exchange market what type of market participant demands the euro? What type of market participant supplies the euro?
2. For few months, prior to your vacation trip to Germany, you find that the exchange rate for your U.S. dollar has decreased relative to the euro. If you were a U.S. citizen or resident, are you pleased?? Explain
3. Explain why a currency appreciation does not improve a nation's balance of trade
Answer: (1) Daily turnover in ForEx markets is over $4 trillion. About 40% of that, or $1.6 trillion is in euro trades.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foreign_exc…
With a world annual GDP of about $61 trillion and so a daily GDP of about $0.16 trillion, the daily euro trade is about 10 times what is needed to actually buy the entire world GDP.
That means that at least 90% of the euro trades are for pure speculation - not for real hedging or use.
(3) If by "improve a nation's balance of trade" you mean "increase exports and decrease imports", the currency appreciation does not. But if you mean "bring exports and imports back into balance", then when you have a trade surplus, it does improve the balance.
(2) If your currency is weaker, it means the other country's products are more expensive.
Question: How and/or when would an Answers participant be considered a Top Contributor in a category? I am curious;how many questions in the same category do you answer correctly to become a Top Contributor? Do they all have to be Best Answer? Who then puts the little orange label on the avatar? Does it just appear?
Answer: To be a top contributor you need to be knowledgeable in up to three categories. the exact formula is kept secret by yahoo but the common theory is that you need a minimum of 10% best answers in each particular category and is said to be reviewed weekly. the top contributor badge is not permanent and can be removed at any time.
A top contributor badge is not hard to get just needs some dedication and work.
So here are a few pointers to get you on your way.
************************************
1.> First choose the category/s you feel you are knowledgeable in. up to three category's. And research every detail you can find with links to add to the answer.
************************************
2.> Try to be polite and answer the question accurately the and to the point.
************************************
3.> Set yourself a target of how many questions to answer each day I recommend you start with 10-20 per day. You can answer more when you become more confident.
************************************
4.> Remember its not the amount of points that count it is the percentage of best answers that gets you the orange badge.
************************************
5.> Try to be helpful and make a effort to do what you can to help.
************************************
6.> Do not answer questions you don't think you can get you best answer (it will lower your percentage of best answers).
************************************
7.> Remember when you get your orange badge you must continue to answer questions and maintain your percentage of best answers and keep your TC badge.
Check your avatar every Monday that’s the day they add the badge (or take it away).
And finally stay away from "controversial" categories to avoid violation reports.

Question: Why is the participant rate of women in religion higher than mens? Is it because women see kindess and forgiveness in God, and all men see is power and might? Or is it because the oppression forces them to draw closer???
Answer: I think it's because women are more introspective, relational, and nurturing, so they are naturally drawn to a positive source of love, care etc. Men are trained from small to be "brave" and "tough", and to go out there and compete and make money and get ahead--little time for introspection. Also, many (such as my husband) are into controlling their own lives and destinies, so it's hard for them to give themselves up into the hands of God.
By the same token, most of the angry atheists I see on Y!A tend to be men...no way are they going to trust in an invisible Being who is higher than (superior to) themselves. Makes sense, from their point of view.
Question: In sociology What is the name of the effect during participant observation studies? where the participants are thought to have altered/changed their behaviour because of the observation. It is a well-known flaw in observational studies.
Answer: The Hawthorne Effect. This happens more than people believe and in many cases the study is distorted. Unfortunately it is rarely taken into account, and many studies end up showing inaccurate results.
If you want to see a good example of the hawthorne effect in action watch a reality tv show. In most cases the entire show is being manipulated by those filming, and by the participants knowing they are being filmed.
Question: How can i be a participant in Derren Brown's shows? What kind of person makes a good subject? What do I have to do or where do I apply?
Also from a hypnotist's point of view, what kind of person would make a good subject? I am guessing that one particular trait of an ideal subject is that he/she must be quite suggestible but how can Derren Brown possibly know this if he hasn't met them before?
Answer: Derren is an expert he will be able to give a near perfect guess at whether a person is suggestible or not by what they are wearing, make up, gender, age, job etc.
he wont always be right and it wont always work.
Question: Year End Deadline for Participant Contribution to Company Sponsored 401k Plan? For tax purposes, what is the deadline for a year end participant contribution to be deposited in a company 401k plan?
Also, what determines the date that a 401k contribution made by the participant and deducted from my bonus check was "effective" for tax purposes? Is it:
1. 12/28/06 which is the date that the bonus check was issued (net of the 401k contribution I requested to be made),
2. 1/3/07 which is the date when my employer actually wrote the check to make the contribution, or
3. Some other date?
Answer: The 401K contribution will reduce box 1 of your 2006 W-2. It is a 2006 contribution since it was withheld from your 2006 income.
Your employer actually has until the 15th business day of January 2007 to make the deposit into your 401K investment account.
