Emotionally Focused Marital Therapy
Emotionally focused marital therapy enables couples to identify and break free of their destructive emotional cycles such as when one person criticizes and the other withdraws. The therapy helps couples build trust in each other.
Question: how can i show my creativity and emotions? i need somehow to release my emotions but i cant make up lyrics for songs even tho i have a beat in my head and i have this picture in my head that i cant get out either cuz i cant draw...my mind is exploding with creative juices but i dont know how to handle it because im usually logical and not emotional...does anyone know how i can get my word or picture out?...i need all the help i can get
i can write but it only works good if i have a picture to go by for some reason
Answer: I have the same exact problem. When you have it planned in your head but you cant seem to put it on paper or in words or in music or whatever your trying to do. What I do that seems to help is i go someplace peaceful or where i usually dont work. Like on a nice day I go to a park or I just go for a walk. Listen to music without words like Explosions in the Sky. They have amazing music and sometimes when Ilisten to music with words i get too distracted. I also trying to just jot my general ideas on paper and try to organize them from there.Or try not organizing them at all. Sometimes too as soon as you have an outline of what you want it just all starts to flow. Also try not to think of it too much.Sometimes it just works if you just let your mind go.
This might also sound stupid but i love drinking coffee or tea when being creative.
Tea can be soothing and also get your brain moving, or coffee cause its just so good!
These are just some ideas that help me.
Hope they help you too!

Answer: Basically, you just answer the questions. If it doesnt have a specific length requirement, simply write as much that is needed to supply an adequate answer to the question.
Question: Emotional Distress? Maybe, I get put down a lot HELP!? Ok. I try to be kind and take pictures of things for my mother. I brought some pictures back from my camping trip... I told my mom that I looked pregnant in one picture. She found a picture of me and said, "is this the picture where you look pregnant?" so I said NO! it was a different one. She is always telling me I am fat (not in the exact words) or i need to loose weight. I am always saying it hurts my feelings and I will try to loose more weight, but the more it comes up, like getting ice cream. She would say Hannah, Do you want one scoop? then she gets me one scoop while the rest of the family has 2 scoops. It's bothering me a lot. I feel very stressed ever since this has started happening. Can someone give me some diet ideas or whats going on... I really want help. Just please give me some really good advise. Thanks!
Answer: well, sorry, but your mom IS trying to help. =] in her special nonhelpful way. if you think about it, she is being nice by not saying directly 'you are fat'. shes just trying to hint.
about the weight, you should be the weight YOU are happy with. if you are happy with your weight, and would not care about it if your mom hadnt pointed it out a billion times, then dont worry about it. however, dont hide from the truth. if you are fat, you are fat. if you are not, you are not, and what you decide to do depending on that depends on you.
if you are really getting upset about how she is hinting to you, make sure to go up to her and say "hey mom, i know you think that im not the right weight, but please stop making me stick out of the family, and pointing it out in hurtful ways. if you think i should lose weight, can you help me do it by buying healthier food, or going to the gym with me regularly?"
and if you dont want to do the above suggestion, but just want to take care of it on your own, then try to get some more exercise. go for a run everyday, or start of walking at least a mile if you arent comfortable with running yet. eat less for meals, but make sure you dont overdo 'less'. you should get at least 1800 calories a day minimum AND exercise based on my experience with a healthy weight. (5'2", age 14) if you are taller than me or older, add some to that, but dont forget the exercise.
good luck! you can dooo ittt =]
Question: Are you significantly more emotional now that you're a parent? My daughter will be 1 in less than 2 weeks and I am already an emotional wreck. If I start thinking about it, I tear up. And we had a baby shower for a co-worker of mine this morning...I was telling her to take plenty of pictures and be sure and write everything down because she will blink and infanthood will be gone and I totally choked on my words and almost started crying in front of everyone. And it's not just her birthday that has me all weepy, I am SO affected by any and everything happy/sad/bittersweet. Movies, commercials, shows, songs, books, stupid sentimental crap on Facebook and even some really sad stuff I've seen here on Y!A...it all makes me such a cry baby. And I wasn't like this when I was pregnant, I was cool as a cucumber then, it only started AFTER I had my daughter. I assume it's mostly due to hormones, but I was just wondering if anyone else experienced a significant change.
Alexia's Mommy - My Sister's Keeper is probably the saddest movie ever made. I literally BAWLED from beginning to end. Not even exagerrating.
Answer: I think its a combination of mommy hormones and being more aware of things and caring more once you have a life to care for. I've been an emotional mess every since I had my first baby. When my daughter was first born Chicago had these commercials about how it hurt your mom if you commited a crime and I would cry every time it came on... those poor mothers!
On Monday night I took my daughter to chuck e cheese and I'm all giantly pregnant... the only way up into those crawling tubes was some very close together platforms, narrowest ones I have ever seen... anyway, she loves to crawl through the tubes at mcdonalds so she went up in the ones at chuck e cheese... but the ones at chuck e cheese are huge and long and looping and she got lost. She started crying MOMMMMMMYYYY through the window of one of the tubes and I tried to direct her out but she got scared and just called for me... so I ran to grab an employee to go get her for me... and she's pressed up against the window as hard as she can, huge tears running down her face, so upset her nose was pouring too... and I just felt so helpless... I started crying too... and eventually the employee got to her up there and helped her down... and we sat in the booth crying for a few minutes... I had never felt so helpless in my life. Mommy hormones!
Question: can someone help me make this essay better its an analysis? .
In Black Men in Public Places, Brent Staples successfully grabs the reader’s attention through out every sentence, he does this by the means of his descriptive, piercing and attention grabbing words, by informing his readers that black men are often perceived as dangerous violent and even hostile in the publics eyes of today’s society. Brent Staples keeps the attention of his reader by allowing them to paint a vivid picture with the detail he puts in every sentence ; therefore this helps his reader to get a sense of his experiences, not by words alone. Brent purposely informs his audience about his personal experiences and what has been done to over come many obstacles. In his voice he uses an inoffensive, clean, and harmless tone while informing. He presents all his sentences with experiences and well supported facts.
The main purpose Brent brought to his essay was mainly to inform readers about the effect that stereotype has on black men, how it has come to affect his life, and to inform and gain understanding that many stereotypes can be untrue. He sent his whole purpose of the essay with evidence. He presents to the reader that he has become a stereotype when he tells about the encounter with the white woman, he lets the reader know for that reason, the woman drew scarred because of how he looked. He brings this very well; through experience and his life alone. When Brent says that she thought herself a mugger, rapist or worst, he advise his readers about what many people think about black men in public. He then lets knowb that this is untrue in his case and supported when he tells that he is a softy that is unable to take a knife to raw chicken, let alone to a person’s throat. The main meaning Brent brought to his essay was mainly to inform readers about the effect that stereotype has on black men, how it has come to affect his life, and to inform and gain understanding that many stereotypes can be perhaps be untrue. He then brings out to his readers that he has become a stereotype when he tells about the encounter with the white woman, he explains to his readers that he is a tall youngish black man and for that reason the woman grew scarred because of the way he looked and the color of his skin . When Brent makes clear that she thought herself a mugger, rapist or worst, he presents to the reader what many people think when coming in public contact with a black man. Hence his purpose informed readers with evidence that black men fall into many stereotypes. He then presents that this is untrue in his case when he tells that he is a softy that is unable to take a knife to raw chicken, let alone to a person’s throat. From his purpose in presenting that can let the reader grow understanding that many black men can be harmless. In Brent’s
last purpose he wants the reader to know how stereotypes affect black men. He says “Then there were the standard unpleasantries with policemen, doormen, bouncers, cabdrivers, and others whose business it is to screen out troublesome individuals before there is any nastiness” With this quote alone he tells that black men have to always watch their back, this purpose was to let readers know the affect stereotypes have on black men.
Moreover Brent Staples presents himself as a highly educated individual. He is very detailed oriented; he lays down his sentences with the use of adjectives to the point of the reader almost feeling as if they had witnessed the situation. Brent’s voice is playful yet serious, funny and soft. Brent explains in the situation with the white women that he was surprised, embarrassed and dismayed after women running from him; this gives the impression that he is a sensitive person. He spoke of the women making him feel like an accomplice in tyranny; Brent gives an emotional soft and genital part of his personality by explaining to the reader about his emotions. Brent states “where fear and weapons meet- and they often do in urban America- there is always the possibility of death.” Brings out a calm part of his personality, he doesn’t seem angry about being viewed in this way, yet understanding. The Understanding comes when Brent speaks of women fearing the worst of him, he doesn’t show anger towards a certain group, but explains that they have reasons to feel in that way, the understanding is brought out in the quote “I understand of course, that the danger they perceive is not a hallucination. Women are particularly vulnerable to street violence, and young black males are drastically overrepresented among the perpetrators of that violence.” The use of big words gives off that Brent is a intelligent young man. He brought out a bit of sarcasm, when speaking of the women who brought out the huge Doberman pincher in the jewelry store, more than often, many people would have showed anger in this situation, but not him he makes a nod at her and waves goodbye.
The methods used by Brent were adequate; he used ways to present his story to the reader that allowed them to gain compassion and empathy. The first paragraph grabbed the reader’s attention, with the words “my first victim was a white woman” those words alone, can catch most audience attention. His method was much like a timeline, presented the beginning of his realization that he was part of a stereotype and the end of how he dealt with it. As a result this keeps the interest of the reader.
Brent Staples presents his point successfully, not once does he use the word stereotype in his essay but yet, the main 3.
idea is clear to the reader. His point was clearly presented in detail through out the essay. As Brent explains after the incident with the woman that he is a Tall black man, and she thought her self a mugger or rapist, this clearly presents that the essay was about stereotype, the reader can quickly sense what the rest of the essay contains. Brent presents evidence when speaking of an a time he was mistaken for a burglar. “The most frightening of these confusions occurred in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s, when I worked as a journalist in Chicago. One day, rushing was mistaken for a burglar.” In the sentence alone, Brent effectively uses enough evidence to prove that the whole essay was his whole imagination.
Moreover the way Brent presented the first encounter to the result, made the essay worth reading. He provide evidence and well supported facts to inform his reader that good and bad people are all apart of sterotype.

Question: Anyone ever made it through an emotional affair? My husband have had a good relationship. We have children and I am currently expecting another. About a month ago he started seeing another woman. I confirmed this last week and he said he would end it, but now can't decide what to do. He says he wants a divorce to explore the relationship with this other person. He claims to have "feelings" for her. I know that he still loves me and I can't picture my life without him.
Here's my question.....anybody out there who has been through this and may have some words of advice??
If you have had this happen, what was the end result?
If you have made it through, what made you come back to your family?
Serious advice only please. I know that it will take a lot of work at this point to get through and I need all the support I can get.
Thanks!
Answer: Don't fight what you cannot change. Seek no revenge either.
The fact is the best blessings in life come in disguise from adversity.

Question: My brother keeps on accessing my Hotmail account, I'm tired of changing passwords? What should I do? I have my private emails/confidental emails,I have some emotional emails sent to a woman and you know other things, there are my emotional emails, pictures and private data saved on hotmail. Previous chattings saved. My brother teased me, and kept on telling me, my private talks and pictures I sent/recieve on hotmail. He copied all those pictures and showed to Mother, I then changed my password to a alphanumeric and a complex one. He again gained access to my account and teased me, and tell everybody what I had wrote in my mails. He says, no matter what you do. I can always open your hotmail. There's no software installed in computer, that saves password. Infact, I have a seperate computer, laptop and a office computer. I'm not a kid or a teenager. I'm a young man 24. I do job.I'm a mature man. There were things like proposing a woman or things too private, that I don't want to discuss with anybody, because it would be too early, as things were not decided or were immature, infact my woman refused for marriage, due to some problems from her side. My brother read and tell exactly word to word as what I had written and what she had written and made fun of me in home.I had plans for meeting her at a place. My brother said to everybody, our brother is going on a plane to meet her. In my email, I asked if you want some money, I will send you like $250, he even read that amount. My brother said to everybody, I asked my brother to give me money, he refused, but on the other hand, he's giving $250 to a woman for her use.He kepts on yelling to Mother, that I also want to go with me on a date with her. There were things like deciding a hotel for me to live. He said and teased me, as I would also live with you in a hotel room,etc..and said very annoying things.I was very ashamed today. I couldn't face anybody at home.Everybody was like, you didn't tell us, what's going on,where were you sending money and bla bla....Everybody started asking 1000 question, started seeing pictures, he copied from hotmail, etc. I'm sick now. Infact very sick now.I can't tolerate this anymore. Please somebody help me.
Answer: First of all, immediately have your computer checked for a 'bug' or 'bugs,' looking especially for a keylogger, which would explain how he is getting your information.
Once it is clean of pests, install a firewall and an anti-virus program if you do not have one yet.
I strongly recommend a program for malware and adware also. Then again change your password, using a good strong one. Then if he is still getting into your account,m he is using a program or website that does this sort of thing. If that is true, then the only option you have is to open a new E-mail account, in a different mail service provider if you wish, and use an ID name that he will never guess is you. But, again with a good strong password. Then, you can use that account for all of your E-mails that are too personal for your brother to know about. And for your E-mail safety, remember:
Do not ever open E-mail from people you do not know; and unless you are absolutely sure who it is from then treat them as spam.
Opening spam alerts the sender that your address is a valid one and they send you loads and loads more of it to you.
Never, ever give out your personal information to anyone, for any reason, whether by E-mail, snail mail, phone call, or at your front door.
And do not ever send money, checks or money orders to; or cash checks, money orders for any one - ever.

I know that some of them seem easy, but the examples I came up with were really.. simple? I've been working on these for a very long time and sometimes I'm at a loss when it comes to the "easy" ones. I just didn't want to put something like "the sky is blue and I can feel the breeze" or something.
Answer: don't lie, because its quite obvs you didn't bother trying.
The most you could have done was at least get IMAGERY.
