Answer: This is not incest as long as he has not legally adopted her. Also, you should find out more about the situation before you tell you mom. Maybe, you can talk to your sister about it first; you don't have to confront them at the same time. Maybe, when talking to your sister, you can politely remark that she and your step dadd seem to be really close. If nothing comes from that, you should then tell her what you saw, politely of course. Find out if the relationship is serious or just a dalliance. Then, decide what to do. If she claims the relationship is serious and it continues for a while, talk to your step-dad. Chances are, he's not as serious as she is. If he is as serious, then tell your mom. Don't be scared to confront them. Don't really think of it as a confrontation. Just drop hints and ask politely. Answer: I'm suspicious of the agenda of your question, but it does address an interesting issue. Essentially, incest (between adults) is on roughly the same level as homosexuality. By this i mean that it involves two consenting adults whose sex lives don't concern anybody else. The only harmful aspect of incest is that the babies of incestuous relationships have dangerously high chances of having congenital defects as a result of the genetic combination (shallow gene pool). For this reason, i think it's not right for incestuous couples to have children (biologically). Other than that, what's the real issue against perhaps gay incestuous couples or infertile incestuous couples? Nothing other than social perception. Very similar to the situation of homosexuals. Obviously because the gay community is a sub-community of the general community, incest is viewed similarly by gay people as people in general. Basically it's considered "sick", "disgusting", "wrong", etc. Personally, I think it has nothing to do with me and so long as they aren't allowed to have biological children (because of the dangers to their childrens' health) i don't really have a problem with it. I don't think incest is legal anywhere in western society, including places that allow gay marriage. If the issue has been addressed it has been done so unsuccessfully by people whose voices haven't been heard. I haven't heard of any groups pressuring the government to consider legalising incestuous relationships.

Answer: In gay marriage there are two of the same gender involved. I doubt they can produce children. If they could they'd be millionaires. Plus it's not incest for gays to marry, unless they happened to be closely related as below, and then I doubt they'd be allowed, but that has never come up to the best of my knowledge, but it is an interesting question to put before the ones presiding over the marriage or the courts where gay marriage is allowed, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm? Now, we might have one gene that says ' you will get disease X' but a stronger gene that says ' you will resist disease X'. So ultimately, you will be able to resist this disease. However, if you have a baby with someone with the same set of genes as you, then there is a high chance that the baby will have 2 genes saying 'you will get disease X' and no gene to resist it. If you get a partner from another family, then it is very unlikely that he / she will have this bad gene (he/she may have another bad gene, but your good gene will counteract it). But within a family, the risks are much higher for this genetic reason. NB haemophilia is such a disease, and incest in royal families in Russia caused its propensity (ooer posh vocab) in Russian Royal families.
