Shotgun Marriage
A shotgun marriage is a marriage that is forced upon the participants usually because the bride is pregnant.
Question: Have you ever had the seven year ache or the seven year itch?
Answer: Seven year heartache defintley But I am coming close to the 1 year itch ( no sex since march 07) The sad part is I am Married
Question: What is 'the seven year itch'?
Answer: Supposedly, after being married for seven years or just being with someone for that long, you start looking at other options. Hence you have an itch to scratch. In layman's terms, one is expected to leave/cheat at this time.
Question: Has anyone had the seven year itch and how long did it take you to get over it, and did you go back to? your spouse and family after that?
My husband keft three months ago he seems to be going through this with no regrets. Is there hope?
According to him he is not cheating he just doesn't like to have to answer to anyone and he says that he will never get remarried to anyone again.
We are going through a divorce and in reality he is acting like a little boy, we have three children and were married when he was 17, so maybe that has a big part in it. All the responsibility at a young age, and the fact that we were both jealous people.
Answer: That is just an excuse to cheat .
I was married to a dysfuntional and violent woman for 23 years and I never Cheated .
P.S. She was only violent the last ten years of marriage ( mental illness and paranoia.)
Question: What is the "seven year itch"?
Answer: A lot of relationships or marriages tend to break up, fail or go through rough patches after 7 years
Question: what was the name of the leading actor in the movie "the seven year itch"?

Question: is it normal to get the seven year itch after 2 years?
Answer: yes
Question: seven year itch........ anyone? I love my husband, and he's incredible in every way (seriously every way). it's not like I need sex, but I've been thinking about other men/friends lately, men I could have if I wanted. Not quite sure what my question is, I'd just like some feedback or stories that others can share, so i know i'm not alone.
Answer: Yeah, it happens. I suggest you stick a rubberband on your wrist and snap the hell out of yourself everytime you catch yourself thinking about these other guys.
Question: what is the seven year itch?do only women get it or men too?
does it mean you shouldnt have never married in the first place?
Answer: the "itch" can be avoided if you DO NOT base your relationship on sex alone. if passion is the only good thing in the relationship, it is not a good relationship.
Question: Seven years of bad luck, or a seven year itch?

Question: Any advice about Pregnancy and Marriage? I'm 8months pregnant...The guy who got me pregnant is 20 yrs old and still studying..The idea of marriage came out when my dad got angry on me because I didn't want to marry the guy. I love him but I'm not ready for marriage. My marriage will be on friday.
Actually I'm really depress because the idea came from my parents..its like a shotgun marriage..
I love the guy but I'm still afraid of marriage..
My parents is pressurring me even though im pregnant..
Answer: DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!
My girlfriend had the same thing happen. Three kids and ten years of abuse later he abandoned her and the kids.
Question: Which One Is Worse, A Shot Gun Marriage Or A Grenade Divorce? We all know what a shotgun marriage/weddings are, "grenade divorces" are when the Ex gets everything and leaves you in the road on a milkcrate! Its happened to some friends, they got blown out of the water! Still wanna get married ? does he/she know about it or are you going to spring a "surprise wedding"
Answer: BOTH would suck extremely -- and the Grenade Divorce (where the greedy, vindictive ex wants everything) happens quite often -- it is only by becoming your own best advocate that one can SURVIVE this type of abusive and aggressive ex (who hires the same type of lawyer in the divorce) -- so you have to be able to make your point about your ability to survive, what you had PRIOR to the marriage, and your own ability to WORK HARD and be able to SURVIVE that helps you outlast one of these common ex's.
Question: Men: Shall we go back to shotgun weddings? I keep hearing how ever since society was "feminized", men end up paying child support, which is just Not Fair! In the eras before feminism, when a guy got his girlfriend pregnant, he was pressured to marry her, and often did. Child support used to be called a wedding ring, guys.
SO - what if instead of pretending that a pregnant woman can easily support herself and a child, and should have no need of a husband, we just bring back shotgun weddings? That's pretty much what we did before the feminists took over, so shall we try that again instead? Or what?
Does the availibility of abortion release you from your obligation to the child? Is that the logic here? Adoption (and some forms of birth control) were always an option in the shotgun marriage days, but obviously there was still a great deal of pressure to get married instead. Would men prefer that to the current situation of child support?
As always, thanks for the insults, guys. I'm happily married, so I really am "out" of this discussion. Just wondering if men would prefer the alternative to child support.
Basically, our choices are:
shotgun weddings
welfare
or
child support
Society has never been able to accomplish the goal of mothers or small children not needing some financial support. People got sick of welfare, so we went to child support. But society clearly needs one of these options, doesn't it? Which one would men prefer?
Answer: I have a bf who loves me and we don't do anything that can risk pregnancy so I am out of this discussion too.
My view is that I'm sure there was a lot of pressure to get married in the past and that if marriage was seen as forced than it probably was not a happy marriage and everyone in it was miserable. Including the child/ren too.
I think that many of the men who are in here complaining about child support are the kind of men who want sexual access to women (messed up way of saying it, I hope you know what I mean) and not be responseable if she is pregnant.
Some of them also say that they are "pro life" and they disgust me.
I think that it would be fair if my daughter may want to live with her father for at least a few years and I would pay child support. I would miss not seeing her every day but if that's what she wants and her father wants too than ok it's right.
I really can't imagine what kind of man or woman would Not want to do what is right for their kids.
Question: Why is teen marriage looked down on now when it used to be common? Don't freak out, I'm not planning a shotgun wedding. But if there are two teen virgins who can support themselves and have faith in God, why has it become...um...*insert a nicer time for "slu**y here.*
Heck, Virgin Mary was married in her teens.
Is it just because times have changed? Is it that simple?
Answer: Because it generally has a higher failure rate.
Teenagers are C-H-I-L-D-R-E-N!
Question: Sarah Palin turned down Stimulus Money some of it for Sex Education, was that a wise thing to do? Especially considering her own daughter got knocked up and was almost forced into a shotgun marriage? Was it wise to not take Stimulus funds?
Answer: Palin's hypocrisy is endless. She joins the other GOP governors from southern states in cutting off their noses to spite their faces regarding refusing additional unemployment benefits. When Jindal (R-LA) tried to debunk Obama's stimulus plan by complaining about funding for monitoring volcanoes (among other vital programs). Palin is probably rushing to accept that bit of stimulus now that Alaska's Mt. Redoubt has erupted 6 times during the last few days, making Jindal appear completely out of touch regarding natural disasters. Palin is either incompetently ignorant regarding sex education or totally unconcerned, but then she always stated that she believed in the failed abstinence programs. These obviously didn't work too well for her daughter.

Question: Gay marriage I challenge you to tell me how this harms my family? OTTAWA (CBC) - Ontario's first openly gay cabinet minister is getting married this weekend
Health Minister George Smitherman, 43, is tying the knot with Christopher Peloso, 33, on Sunday at a picturesque resort in northern Ontario.
About 200 guests were expected to witness the lakeside ceremony outside a lodge near Sudbury, Ont.
The pair were quietly engaged on Christmas Day and Smitherman made the engagement public in February.
During last year's federal election campaign, the Liberal deputy premier talked about having a "shotgun wedding" if the federal Conservatives reversed the country's law allowing same-sex marriage.
A motion to reopen the same-sex marriage debate was easily defeated in Parliament on Dec. 7, 2006.
--------------------------------------
I am a straight white married man rapidly becomeing a middle aged married man - My family has been in this country for almost 200 years - etc etc
All I want to know is how on earth te above news quote harms me and how
Answer: It doesn't harm you or anyone else, despite the choleric rants of the God-botherers. If more prominent pols, vicars, actors, writers, role-model types of every kind, e.g., were to marry it might possibly shut the crazies down. It's hard to reason with these people...questions like, "Will your marriage erode?" and "Do you feel threatened personally?" leave them gasping in the dust...with nothing but 1 or 2 obscure NT references to hang onto. I'm in your category too and am mystified at the screaming fits.
Question: Will Sarah Palin bring her shotgun to her daughter's wedding? Marriage is Plan B for the GOP when abstinence doesn't work, right?
HAHAHA, I love it, thank you cons for making this a wonderful Labor Day.
Answer: She SHOULD have brought her gun to her daughter's teen trysts. I've seen people who couldn't run their family run the country just fine; But at least they weren't promising to run the country according to THEIR family values while they were doing it! Perhaps Palin thinks there should be a teen pregnancy in every home...The American 'Dream'...
Question: Do ya think there are ever any Gay "shotgun" Marriages?
Answer: OMG LOL What a great way to show just how different the Gays are and yet another reason they need to stick to Civil Unions.
Question: How do I go about getting my 5month Marriage Annulled??? He turned out to psycho...Came after me with a loaded shotgun...I did get a restraining order but, I seriously want the marriage annulled......
