Hearing
A court proceeding at which parties, and perhaps witnesses, come to the court to speak. A hearing is different from a trial in a number of ways, including that it is typically shorter and sometimes less formal than a trial.
Question: Hearing....? Apparently, I have the ability to hear fequencies both higher and lower that the average human hearing range. For example, if you blow a dogwhistle, I can hear it.
Any ideas why???
Thanks.
Answer: You're related to Superman? Seriously, you just are lucky enough to have super sensitive hearing.
Question: hearing??? how do loud sounds cause hearing loss?
Answer: There are small hairlike structures inside your ear that vibrate in response to sound waves, loud noise damages these structures as they are very sensitive.
Question: How much hearing loss can listening to an ipod for 1 hour at full volume cause? Would it cause permanent hearing loss? Would it cause hearing loss significant enough for you to notice it? I'm doing a report on ipods and hearing loss in teens but I can't seem to find any data on hearing loss per hour. Please Help! I only listen to my ipod about 1/5 the volume and not for long periods of time, will I experience hearing loss?
Answer: Okay the deal with ipods is that the further in your ear the earphones are the louder the sound hits your eardrum. So the ipod has brought this issue out as they are commonly used with the small earbuds. It is fine to use the small earbuds if you are not blasting the volume on the music.
OSHA standards for noise exposure for workers in a factory are that the worker can be exposed to an 85 dB sound for 8 hours. So if the sound is louder they need to wear ear protection. The formula continues and you can safely listen to a 90 dB sound four 4 hours, a 95 dB sound for 2 hours etc. Some examples of how loud things are.
Average conversational speech is 60 dB
a dog barking is about 75 dB
a piano is about 80 dB
a helicoptor is about 95 dB
a Lawnmower is about 100 dB
So the moral of the story is. Don't let all the talk prevent you from enjoying your music. Be sensible don't use the volume all the way up. Don't listen all day long at loud volumes. Short use should be okay. Better safe than sorry so you should always wear ear protection when around a lot of noise when using power tools and mowing the lawn
Question: What hearing aids would you suggest for a singer in a band? I recently joined a rock band as lead vocalist. I am having trouble hearing myself during practice with the drums, guitar and bass being so loud. Can anyone suggest an item to help me hear myself better without disturbing the other members?
Answer: Yeah, they're called "floor monitors"...singers have been using them for years!
Question: What causes sudden hearing loss with periods and abdominal pain? I experience sudden hearing loss and vision loss when I have sudden menstrual cramps (Dysmenorrhea). This also happens when I experience abdominal pain related to diarrhea or constipation, which sometimes happens right before my period starts. Sometimes the GI system and the uterus are both affected at the same time.
When I lose my hearing, all I hear is ringing, and everything turns bright, unless Im in a dark hallway. Indoors, I cant see. I think my pupils dilate and the blood flow to my ears constricts. What causes this?
Answer: There could be a number of possibilities going on such as endometriosis (just using endometriosis as an example only) but the only way to know for sure what is going on is to see your doctor for further evaluation of the situation to see what they think could be going on.
Question: How do I improve my severe/profound sensorineural hearing loss naturally without hearing aids? Has anyone been able to improve their sensorineural hearing loss naturally? I want to hear better without(and with) hearing aids, especially in the high frequencies. What kinds of herbs or medicines can do this? Also what kind of hearing exercises should I do?
Answer: IMPOSSIBLE!
once the hair cells are damaged they are damaged. there is no magical-medicinal cure for a sensory/ neural hearing loss.
buck up and get your self some hearing aids. if you have a high frequency loss. make sure they have directional microphones and at the very least 8 channels so the audiologist has greater programming ease.
Question: What is a supplemental hearing from Social Security? I applied for social security disability. My original hearing was January 8th. I was informed today, that Social Security is interested in a supplemental hearing. What is a supplemental hearing? What should I expect and how should I prepare? My disability is an illness that affected my brain severely.
I already provided that information at the 1st trial dumbass. Anyone else, who is not a retard, have any input?
I already provided that information at the 1st trial dumb ***. Anyone else, who is not a retard, have any input?
Answer: You say what your illness is
Now, Social Security wants proof from a medical source that backs up your claim.
Question: What are the chances of reproducing a child with hearing loss? My mom has hearing loss, and she got it from her father. But no one else in the family has it except her and him. She has 4 other sisters, and none of them have it.
I was born with hearing loss, but my sister and brother don't have it. My brother is a complete ***hole, and he has anger issues. When we don't hear something, he calls us a deaf piece of ****. My mom has told him that when he has a kid he better pray that the child doesn't have hearing loss.
But I was just wondering what are the chances of a child getting hearing loss.
Answer: It's hard to know unless you know more about the genes. It could be a dominant trait that was passed to you but not your siblings, or a recessive trait that your siblings would have, too, but is not obvious in them. My sister has something that my grandmother has, but no one else does - not mt grandmother's siblings, my dad's siblings OR any of my other siblings or my cousins. DNA can be strange like that so it really is hard to tell who may or may not have certain genetic traits.
Question: What amount of hearing loss (in Db) is allowed to pass a class 1 medical to get a commercial pilots licence? basically as above. I think I have about a 15Db loss in hearing at some of the higher frequencies in my left ear only. What amount of hearing loss is acceptable to get the class 1 medical required to do the commercial pilots licence? Thanks.
Answer: You shouldn't have a problem passing the test.
Even if you were completely deaf in one ear, you could pass.
If you can hear the doctor speaking to you at 6 feet, with your back turned, using BOTH ears, you will pass.
This is the primary test for the FAA Class 1 Medical Certificate. (and 2&3 as well)
If you fail the test, you can elect to have an audiometric test done.
Here are the actual requirements:
"Demonstrate hearing of an average conversational voice in a quiet room, using both ears at 6 feet, with the back turned to the examiner OR pass one of the audiometric tests below :
Audiometric speech discrimination test: (Score at least 70% discrimination in one ear) or:
Pure tone audiometric test: Unaided, with thresholds no worse than:
500Hz 1,000Hz 2,000Hz 3,000Hz
Better Ear 35Db 30Db 30Db 40Db
Worst Ear 35Db 50Db 50Db 60Db"

Question: What exactly does it mean when someone taks about hearing voices? 1. When you are asleep you dream and you hear a lot of people talking to you, having fun or scared but it still involves people conversing whether you know them after you wake up or not. What are those voices? Who are they? Is this considered hearing voices and so that person is crazy or have some psychological problem? When we are awake we all have self talk and we hear or remind ourselves of certain words what someone had said some time ago without much thinking about itWhat is the theory behind it. If we hear someone you know telling you something to do and you hear his voice repeatedly, is this considered a serious psychological problem? May be he is obsessed and so he will believe what the voice says .
Answer: Yes, there is a difference between the voices we hear in dreams or that we speak to ourselves Vs. the voices a person claims to hear in their head or out of nowhere.
Just hearing voices is not something that the psychiatric community worries about.
It is WHAT the voices say that causes concern.
If the voices are simply a way for the person to allow themselves to explore something they struggle with in their mind, then these voices can actually be a good thing, IF they bring about a constructive "dialogue" between the person and the voices of their concerns.
However, in general, the term "hearing voices" more often refers to someone who is hearing actual voices that encourage them to hurt themselves, be violent with other people, or both.
That's why often a person will hear voices telling him to kill others, and then after commiting the crime voices will then tell him to kill himself.
Some psychiatrists refer to this as the "satan/God complex"
IF YOU ARE HEARING VOICES please seek out medical help, including mental health care.
IF YOU KNOW SOMEONE WHO IS HEARING VOICES AND THEY HAVE HINTED AT HURTING THEMSELVES OR OTHERS, you either HAVE to get them to seek help OR you MUST report this to proper authorities.
Question: Which hearing aids are the best for people with only one good ear? I have been without an eardrum since 5 years old, and because of that my middle bone in my right ear disappeared as well. I am looking for the best hearing aids. Which hearing aids can replace the cochlear implant procedure and to help me balance the hearing in both ears. My brain is not used to hear from my right side and I know this will take some time and adjustment.
Answer: Hey Lucia, that is a big decision and one my wife and I didn't take lightly either when making a decision as to what to do for our son who needed hearings aids. We found these two sites in our search and they were very helpful and informative. I will add the links below and I hope they help you as well.
Question: where can I get assistance getting hearing aids? I'm currently attending school full-time and working a full-time job at Walt Disney World for 7 dollars an hour. Between the tuition for school, and my other bills, and rent, I am having trouble saving enough money for new hearing aids I’m starting to need.
Since hearing aids are not covered by insurance and the prices of them are sky-high, I'm afraid I will not have enough money saved to buy new hearing aids by the time I need them.
I hate to ask for charity but I'm starting to be backed into a corner. Any suggestion about what I could do?
Answer: Check with the Hearing Loss Association of America (www.hearingloss.org), which also has a state organization in Florida with local chapters. That's one place to look.

Question: How come we are hearing suddenly about food crisis and higher prices? How come we are hearing suddenly about food crisis and higher prices? Those experts would allways gives us some predictions about something and something. How come we didn't hear about this in last year or not even some monthes before? Now world is suddenly facing food crisis?
Answer: It's just the anti America propaganda machine we call the mass media. Not a big deal. Just lies and exaggerations as usual. Our so called news media has become a giant National Enquirer. Journalism has died.
Question: What's the difference between hearing aids bought from a doctor as opposed to those bought at about half price? From an audiologist, I'm told that a prescription hearing aid can run about $2500. I see ads for hearing aids that are programmed based on hearing test results that go for around $1000. Is there much difference in quality?
Answer: Generally, hearing aids from a doctor are of better quality than those who aren't. The audiologist knows you better than these other people do, and know what is right for you, and what isn't.
I have my hearing aids from my audiologist, and I have never had any problems with it personally. Even though it's pricier, it's worth it. I don't trust these adverts. Anyway, good luck, and ask your audiologist for more information.
Question: What happens in a hearing to order surgery for a judicially committed individual? A patient at the mental hospital I work at needs surgery for a tumor. The tumor is still in early stages so the hospital cannot get emergency permission but must get court permission. We are trying to set up a hearing with the court to grant permission for the surgery. What will happen at this hearing, what evidence must we bring?
Answer: Medical records and diagnosis along with treatment options are presented to the judge. Patient advocate gives opinion and judge makes decision. Judge usually agrees to sound medical procedure.
Since the state has removed the patient's ability to make choices, the judge must make them. it is a fairly pro forma process.
Question: What should my son expect at a preliminary court hearing? My son witnessed a theft from a parked automobile a few weeks ago. The suspect was caught, and the stolen goods were returned to their owners. My son was issued a subpoena to testify in court as a witness. It is only the preliminary hearing. What should he expect at this hearing? Will he have to appear in court after the preliminary hearing? Also, who else will be present at the hearing? I live in the state of Pennsylvania. Thank you!
Answer: Where I am a preliminary hearing is only to establish probable cause. More than likely your son will have to testify. The prosecutor will ask questions and then the defense will ask questions. From what I have seen most preliminary hearings are done (because they are required by statute) and the defense tries to turn it into a Discovery matter.
Meaning the defense will try and find out what your son’s story is. If that story changes between the prelim and the trial it would undermine the credibility of the witness.
The prosecutor’s office will probably have some there before court to talk to you all. If not, so long as his story remains the same nothing to worry about.
I have heard prosecutors tell witnesses to answer in one word answers, Short, short, short answers. This is not a trial for the Beyond a Reasonable Doubt stuff. This is only probable cause (about 85%) that the person charged did the crime. Most I have seen get Certified to circuit court almost always.
Yes, if it is certified to circuit court then he will testify there, that will be the trial. Most are plea bargained away early on so there won’t be a trial. More than likely the defendant has a record and his attorney is just testing the waters at the prelim to see about his bargaining power for the plea.
Best wishes to you both and extra kudos for your son. Tell the truth, if he is certain tell him to be certain just don’t go down rabbit holes, stick with the questioned asked.
Question: What is the diffrence between hearing God and having audtoiry hallucinations? So how can you tell the diffrenence between hearing voices and hearing God.
Answer: Talking to god = Prayer.
God talking to you = schizophrenia!!
Not meant to be funny either!!
The Catholic church has a fraud team to investigate these sorts of claim and their first action is a psychiatric examination!!
Hearing voices is dangerous and you must surely realize that so many go on to harm others and claim god told them to do it - serial rapists, mass murderers!!
So if you are hearing voices seek help both for your sake and the safety of those around you!!

Question: How long should it take for normal hearing to return after a loud concert? I attended a loud rock concert 5 days ago now. Following the concert I had tinnitus in both ears and trouble hearing. Normal (or seemingly normal) hearing returned to my right ear after about two days. However my left ear still has ringing, and sounds are extremely muffled. Is it normal for it to take so long for hearing to recover? What are the chances that I'm facing permanent damage?
Answer: It will take as long as it takes to return, possibly up to a few weeks. Depending on the level of db's and how often you expose your ears to this kind of punishment, this is normal. The chances that you've done permanent damage seem pretty slim, but you should be more careful in the future. While waiting for your hearing to return fully, you should refrain from listening to any loud music, and in the future, wear earplugs (if you don't have earplugs, roll up some toilet paper into plugs).
Question: What is the difference between hearing voices in your head and your own conscience? I'm confused about what the difference is. If there is a distinct difference between hearing a voice other than your own conscience and hearing yourself talking to yourself.
Answer: There is a big difference. I can explain it to you. Heres some general info that goes with it.
There is no medical practice to Psychiatry. Its only a belief system with no blood tests or science. People have problems from abuse or were simply into the occult. This is all that is found in every case- Source- Experience working in this area.
Hurting people hurt others. Parents and others classmates-bully and use words to trick you and to get a sick high from it. Seeing things and all the so called false mental problems start, but are not disorders. Abuse can cause all known so called mental problems.- BP, OCD, and all others. They have the problem- you only have a reaction to the abuse.
Demons are evil, deceptive, and destructive. According to 2 Corinthians 11:14-15, demons masquerade as “angels of light” and as “servants of righteousness.” Appearing as a “ghost” and impersonating and talking as a deceased human being definitely is a disguise that demons use and do other things like messing with your mind, rapid cycling, instant crying- even when they are not visible and abuse brings them as well as other things.
Hearing voices/Mood swings - Common words heard-- Lets kill him/her/rape. So you have more than one entity speaking. Happy then crying? this is the classic demonic example.
