Cohabiting
A couple not married to each other is considered to be cohabiting when they are living together.
Question: Cohabiting? Does a couple that lives together before marriage have to get married eventually? I want to hear some Christian views about this issue.
Answer: Bible prophecy being fulfilled right here on R&S... in the last days people would say wrong was right and right was wrong..... a cohabiting man and woman is nothing wrong.... God says nothing about sex before marriage..... he is honest, he got engaged to her (mind you, engaged not married) her within the year.......
Who are you guys all trying to fool?
Gal 6:7
Do not be misled: God is not one to be mocked. For whatever a man is sowing, this he will also reap.
Be warned......

Question: Can cohabiting parents file for lone parent child benefits in Ireland? I'm doing an assignment in college and it's based on the services for lone parents. I have to state any gaps in the services and explain so I was wondering if anyone knew any? Are cohabiting couples entitled to the lone parent benefits and if not, is there a law against it or is it a glitch in the government that it is not allowed but it is still possible. Also, if anybody knows of the services available to the lone parent and who the services are (public, private, voluntary, and/or informal sectors). Any help would be really appreciated! Thanks
Answer: Cohabiting couples cant get lone parents payment.
If you're a cohabiting couple then you're not really a lone parent, therefore you're not entitled the payment.
It is against the law and if some one is claiming lone parents payment and living with their partner then they're committing fraud.
Here the exact piece of legislation stating that a cohabiting parent is not entitled to lone-parents payment,

Question: In California what rights to property does a live in or cohabiting partner have in the event of a death? A man and woman living together. He has a heart attack and dies in her arms before help can arrive. They have lived together for five years, but no cohabiting agreement and California is not a Common Law Marriage State. What is her rights as regards possessions in comparison to his children from a previous marriage? His Will is 10 years old.
Answer: Sorry, my "giveashit" is broken.
Question: when did california legalize cohabiting between a man and woman? trying to find statistical info and fun factoids on cohabiting laws in the United States. beyond the fact that seven states still have anti-cohabiting laws.
Answer: I don't know why people are talking about common law marriage. Your question concerns criminalization of cohabitation, and, anyway, there has never been any such thing as common law marriage in California.
My research would indicate that non-adulterous cohabition has never been a crime in California.
Question: Should laws truly change for people who are now simply cohabiting; when it comes to entitlement of finances? There is more talk of a "marriage" among adults without going thru the process legally. When a spouse dies, there financial property is automatically intitled to the widower but with cohabiting there really aren't set laws unless its been drawn up by a lawyer.
Answer: People are rather naive to believe that a man and woman living together for a period of time entitles them to the legal benefits of marriage as regards to inheritance of property. As it stands now, only 11 states and the District of Columbia in the United States currently recognize common law marriages. In Britain, common law marriages were abolished in 1753 with the Marriage Act.
A court case in Pennsylvania effectively abolished common law marriages there, PNC Bank Corporation v. Workers’ Compensation Appeal Board (9/17/2003). On November 23, 2004, Governor Rendell signed into law HB 2719, abolishing common law marriage. The new law states that “[n]o common law marriage, contracted after January 1, 2005, shall be valid.” The law further provides that it does not invalidate an otherwise lawful common law marriage contracted on or before that date. As a result, most, but not all of the issues presented by a series of court decisions relating to common law marriage have been resolved.
There are two separate issues here: (1) marriage -- living together with a person of the opposite sex is not really marriage. Some women think their tenure qualifies them for inheritance, while some men view the relationship as just "living together" and want their children to inherit rather than their girlfriend, or if you prefer, their "mistress" or concubine. (2) Okay, so if you don't want to get married, at least have wills written so that concerns about property are addressed. A person who is not legally married can leave all of his assets to his concubine or mistress.
Early in my career, I was involved in a situation where a man died intestate (without a will), and he had been living with his girl friend for about 25 years. He had a valid marriage and never got divorced from his wife. Guess who inherited? Do you think it was the girl friend or the wife he hadn't been with for decades? Yes, the wife inherited. There could not be a common law marriage because the prior legal marriage was not legally terminated.
Question: What are the legal rights for a cohabiting couple?
I just mean in general. Do they have the same rights as a married couple, or a couple in a civil partnership?
Answer: As far as what? There's not many and the person you're cohabiting is legally seen as your roommate, nothing more. Some states have common-law marriage where you're considered married if you live together for a certain length of time, but otherwise I'm not sure what kind of rights you're talking about.
Question: Which parasite medication is safe for cohabiting cats and dogs? Advantage ?
Revolution ?
Frontline ?
We want to have our dog and two cats done at the same time but they groom each other. Which of the above three have the same formulation for both cats and dogs?

Done at the vet - just want to know which medication to specify.

.
Answer: Where the h is "parasite medication" or a parasite-killing whatever its name is when you need it !!!?
"Kitties" DO need some assistance with pest control.
I have used Revolution on my stray rescue cats because it controls ear mites and most intestinal parasites in addition to fleas.
I am leery of Advantage because I have read of it poisoning and killing cats and i don't know it the formulations for dogs and cats are the same. Read and weigh:

Question: How should living expenses be designated within a cohabiting couple? My boyfriend and I have been living together for 8 months and I agree on 50/50. But he thinks that it makes the relationship "cold" and we should be looking out for each other and not focus on "down the middle." I'm a recent grad and my money isn't overflowing and I don't expect for anybody to pay my way.
Answer: First off, living together before marriage can definitely cause financial problems when you're splitting bills 50/50. I'm not attacking your lifestyle. I did the exact same thing. I'm letting you know from personal experience that splitting the bills 50/50 is the best way if you're going to live together.
When you're married, this isn't even an issue. Both paychecks would go directly into the same account. There is no "his money" or "her money." It's just "our money." All money goes to one account and all bills paid from it.
The problem with paying your own bills is that it may be difficult to designate bills equally. You take the electric bill and he takes the cable and phone. It probably pays about the same, but it's not so big a deal if the phone bill doesn't get paid. You don't pay the electric, and you're plunged into the Dark Ages. You follow me?
I recommend the book by Dave Ramsey called The Total Money Makeover. It's actually changed my life! It may seem kind of radical, but it's totally worth it. Try listening to his radio show a bit before buying the book just to make sure it's for you, too.

Question: If Gillard gets in, how many more men will boycott marriage and cohabiting with a woman? After all we will have a female Premier in some states, a female Prime Minister, a female Governor General and a Queen in charge. The last thing a man will want is a female at home as well.
Answer: hard to say most people are shacking up already.
Question: Discuss the extent to which the status of those cohabiting outside marriage ? Which has been recognised by the conferring of legal right.
Answer: Is this a college essay question? If so, I think you need to do your own research. If it's not an essay question then we need more information as to what you mean. Legal rights of cohabiting couples varies depending in which country/state you reside, how long the couple has been together, whether they have children together and whether the couple is same-sex.
Question: Any one have a happy marriage after cohabiting? We are getting married in two weeks. We were friends for 6 years and we've been together for 2 1/2 years and cohabited for a little over a year. The statistics are scary because they basically say there is little chance we will stay together but up tell now things have been Mostly great so I'm asking for success stories to lift my spirits please? I would be lost without him.
Answer: We dated 6 months - cohabited over a year - now married for 20 years. I love my wife - and she loves me - we are the best things that ever happened to each other.
Question: How can a cohabiting partner prove her address? I have moved in with my partner a few months ago. The house, council tax and all the bills are in his name. When I'm asked for a proof of address, how can I prove that I live at that address?
Answer: Do you have a bank account? If so bank statements will have your name and address on.
The council tax bill should have both your names on it but then you don't qualify for the 25% single person reduction, bummer!
Maybe get one of the bills transferred to your name, he can carry on paying it even if it's in your name.
Is the house mortgaged or rented? Are you on the tenancy agreement?
Hope one of these ideas helps = )
Question: What different types of creatures cohabiting with human beings have been mentioned in your holy texts?
by cohabit I mean who would be able to live and communicate with humans.
Answer: If you mean cohabiting as to co exist with humans, there are many such scriptures, such as shepherds abiding in the fields with their flocks of sheep. If you mean to cohabit in a sexual fashion, I know of none.
Question: If you are in the middle of a divorce & not cohabiting would this have any bearing on divorce settlements? I mean say for example a wife does not live in the same house anymore and only lived in the house for 6 months. Now for the last 6 months she has been living elsewhere so therefore are separated. Would the court take that into account or is it a case of being married untill you are divorced?. Would the settlements be determined on the time the couple have lived together?
Answer: You need to talk to a lawyer.. there are too many factors to consider...AND it varies from state to state.
Question: Is there a greater risk of breakup between cohabiting couples than married couples?
Answer: The high rate of relationship breakdown amongst cohabiting parents has been the main driver of the
steady increase in lone parent family formation in the UK since the mid-1980s. Using original survey
data from 236 married and cohabiting new mothers in NHS postnatal clinics in Bristol, this study investigates
the prevalence and interaction of four relational bad habits – STOP signs – that have previously
been found to predict relationship outcomes. Although few differences were found between
married and cohabiting parents in individual use of bad habits, significant differences were found in
the interaction of these habits within couples. In particular, cohabiting parents are more likely either to
“back off”, where both parents opt out from arguments, or to “fire back”, where fathers put down and
mothers think the worst as well as score points or put down in return. Results support the hypothesis
that cohabiting fathers are less committed and cohabiting mothers are less secure
Question: Is a Bridal Shower Necessary for a Cohabiting Couple? If a couple has been living together for two years and has a child, a house, and two cars, is a wedding shower really necessary?
Answer: today the majority of couples getting married have been living together for some time- so the " traditional shower' is certainly not needed.
If someone wants to host a shower for you then some options are :-
A cellar shower - wine, spirits etc.
A recipe shower - everyone brings along their favourite recipe & a dish. MOH , etc then collates recipes into a book for the couple. OR the recipes can be forwarded to said person beforehand & the " family & friends favourite recipe book" is given to the bride at the shower. I recntly attended one like this .
an entertainment shower - gifts include cds, movie vouchers, ( I gave a chocolate fondue set at one of these.) , board games.
Lingerie party - party plan event
Question: Wedding gift ideas for the cohabiting couple? We are attending the wedding of a couple that is getting married sooner than expected due to a new arrival coming. They have been living together for a couple of years and really do not need knick knacks. I do not want to getting a baby type gift as this for them and the baby shower is later. We thought of cash as they will need that with all the changes coming into their lives, but I am not sure if that is still acceptable. If cash is OK, how much is appropriate? Any other ideas?
Answer: cash is fine.
gift cards too.
Question: Is cohabiting before marriage a good way to get to know your partner?
Answer: Yes, nothing brings you to reality quicker than having to pick up your partner´s dirty socks from the floor. It´s so different than just staying over, even if you stay over every night. It´s more commitment.
That said, living together before getting married also causes problems once you get married. The reason is, people don´t clearly state expectations when they´re living together, they are more relaxed and since they are kind of on "trial period", they don´t want to rock the boat by being too demanding. Then once married, the true expectations come out.
For example my (then) boyfriend went off last summer to a foreign country on a heavy metal festival tour, partying for a week solid, with his single friend, leaving me on my own. I didn´t like it at all but I felt I couldn´t object as we were only living together. Now that we are married there´s no way he can do that. See what I mean?
Just make sure you both state very clearly what you expect from your partner, long-term.
Question: I've been seeing my guy for about a year and he still is not keen on us cohabiting. Will he change his mind? He is wealthier than me but I have my own house and he has a flat he sublets and lives with mum and dad.
Does this have any impact - or do you think he doesn't love me?Or what?
Answer: a year isn't that long, don't rush things hun.
I've been with my partner 5 years and we have only just got a place together.
Time will help, and when he is ready he will say.
