Question: I have to make an Eskimo kinship system chart for my family on word 2003, I am not sure how do it? it is for my Anthropology class. Can someone please help me.
Answer: Open a Word document, then go to "Insert", and in the Pop up Window "Diagram Gallery" select the upper left icon, which is the organization chart. When you click on the chart, you will get a toolbar that shows the options that you can use.
Question: irrespective of life's "long journey to kinship" is outdated, where is the basis for this argument? Does it have anything to do with a little someting I like to call "Mendeleyev Syndrome"?
Answer: Some have argued this but I laugh at it!!! This is not acceptable as it violates Bohr theory!
Question: why do anthropologists focus so much on kinship? im a high school student and im very interested in majoring in anthropology when i go to college in the fall and just wanted some info from people. thanks!
Answer: I'm not sure what type of info you want. Kinship is important to anthropology because anthropology is the study of human behavior and human behavior is variable. However, much of our behavior is determined by survival success for ourselves and our kin.
For example, if a person (not necessarily you or I) is in a burning building with 3 strangers, he/she is more likely to try and get him/herself out than risk their life for strangers. However, if trapped with family, there is a greater possibility that the individual will risk their life to save their kin.
Kin strategies vs. other strategies is important in anthropology and each subfield has a different take on them. But kinship is a small part of anthropology. Trust me, you'll learn more (depending on the subfield you choose, if you choose one).
Question: Comparisons of protein similarity between species can reveal the degree of genetic kinship because? a.The number of protein variations is limited.
b.Specific amino acids are dictated by known nucleotide sequences.
c.gel electrophoresis converts proteins to nucleotides.
d.Protein can be hybridized with DNA.
e.DNA is made by directions stored in proteins.
Answer: b. Because DNA sequence directs protein synthesis, changes in the protein reflect changes in DNA.
Question: Can I legally disassociate myself from kinship to my (older) brother? He abused me emotionally physically and sexually.
I am now executor of my mother's will. She has only left him10%.
Answer: As long as you make sure he gets his 10%, you don't have to ever associate with him again.
Question: What is the importance of family ties and kinship?
Answer: That is a very individual, personal issue. To some they are everything. To others, they are not very important at all. In my personal observances, they tend to become more important as one gets older, and almost always met with regret that they were not as important when the individual was younger.
Question: I am Lithuanian by birth but have alway felt a kinship with the Celts. Is there any historical connection?
Answer: According to the Columbia Encyclopedia,
http://www.bartleby.com/65/ce/Celt.html
The Celts were "a group of peoples first found in SW Germany and E France early in the 2d millennium B.C., but perhaps much older than that." This entry goes on to say say that the Celts at one point had holdings in the northern part of Germany.
Another site:
http://www.ianr.unl.edu/kendrick/411/people-S00.html
says that "The Celts, Iron Age warriors came from Eastern Europe and reached Ireland around 300 BC."
Neither site specifically mentions Lithuania, but we are talking about events that happened maybe 3,000 years ago.
Question: Why do people convert to Islam before learning Arabic and reading the entire Koran ? Since the Koran, so I keep hearing, can only be properly understood in the original Arabic. Oh, and why the hell hasn't any Muslim ever bothered properly translating the book into English ? Is that too much for the entire world of English speaking Muslims to pull off ? Maybe put some little footnotes at the bottoms of certain pages ? Is that so hard ?
Answer: So you keep hearing? have you even looked at the Qur'an? Yes, you will keep hearing what you want to hear because it is convinient for you, TO THE HEART AND MIND IGNORANCE IS KIND"
Rejection of the Qur'an is pure Stubbornness
Written by Ibn Kathir
لَوْلاَ فُصِّلَتْ ءَايَـتُهُ ءَاعْجَمِىٌّ وَعَرَبِىٌّ](Why are not its verses explained in detail What! not in Arabic and an Arab) meaning, why is it not revealed in detail in Arabic And by way of denunciation they would have said, "What! not in Arabic nor from an Arab -- i.e., how can foreign words be revealed to an Arab who does not understand them This interpretation was reported from Ibn `Abbas, Mujahid, `Ikrimah, Sa`id bin Jubayr, As-Suddi and others.
وَالَّذِينَ لاَ يُؤْمِنُونَ فِى ءَاذَانِهِمْ وَقْرٌ](And as for those who disbelieve, there is heaviness in their ears,) means, they do not understand what is in it. ALLAH ANSWERS YOUR QUESTION RIGHT THERE!
Allah tells us that the Qur'an is so eloquent and perfect in its wording and meanings, yet despite that the idolators do not believe in it. He tells us that their disbelief is the disbelief of stubbornness, as He says elsewhere:
[وَلَوْ نَزَّلْنَـهُ عَلَى بَعْضِ الاٌّعْجَمِينَ ][فَقَرَأَهُ عَلَيْهِم مَّا كَانُوا بِهِ مُؤْمِنِينَ ](And if We had revealed it unto any of the non-Arabs, and he had recited it unto them, they would not have believed in it.) (26:198-199). If the Qur'an had been revealed in the language of the non-Arabs, they would have said, because of their stubbornness:
[
[قُلْ هُوَ لِلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ هُدًى وَشِفَآءٌ](Say: "It is for those who believe, a guide and a cure...'') means, `say, O Muhammad: this Qur'an, for the one who believes in it, is guidance for his heart and a cure for the doubts and confusion that exists in people's hearts.'
[وَهُوَ عَلَيْهِمْ عَمًى](and it is blindness for them.) means they are not guided to the explanations contained therein. This is like the Ayah:
[وَنُنَزِّلُ مِنَ الْقُرْءَانِ مَا هُوَ شِفَآءٌ وَرَحْمَةٌ لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَلاَ يَزِيدُ الظَّـلِمِينَ إَلاَّ خَسَارًا ](And We send down of the Qur'an that which is a healing and a mercy to those who believe, and it increases the wrongdoers nothing but loss.) (17:82).
[أُوْلَـئِكَ يُنَادَوْنَ مِن مَّكَانٍ بَعِيدٍ](They are called from a place far away.) Mujahid said, "Far away from their hearts.'' Ibn Jarir said, "It is as if the one who is addressing them is calling to them from a distant place, and they cannot understand what he is saying.'' This is like the Ayah:
[وَمَثَلُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ كَمَثَلِ الَّذِى يَنْعِقُ بِمَا لاَ يَسْمَعُ إِلاَّ دُعَآءً وَنِدَآءً صُمٌّ بُكْمٌ عُمْىٌ فَهُمْ لاَ يَعْقِلُونَ ](And the example of those who disbelieve is as that of him who shouts to those (flock of sheep) that hears nothing but calls and cries. (They are) deaf, dumb and blind. So they do not understand.) (2:171)

Question: What are physical differences between the Bible and the Koran? I would like to know why they are so different physically. Not what you read inside of them.
Does the Koran read right to left?
And maybe some similarities, too?
Thank you very much!!
Answer: They are both (today) paper and ink. The Qur'an, if written in Arabic, its original language, is read from right to left. The Bible, if written in its ("Old" Testament) original language, Hebrew, is written from right to left.
The big differences are not physical, though. They are spiritual. Read a few pages of each and see how different they are spiritually.
Mohammed chose one of the many gods of the nomadic people of Arabia to be his "almighty," but it was the moon god, Allah, that he chose to change into the form that he wished to make him. This is not the God of the Bible. Despite the wars and killings told about in the Bible, the true Creator is a God of love, "not willing that any should perish." But he is a jealous God, not willing to share worship with another. He is NOT "tolerant" of other religions.

Question: What does the Quran/Koran say about the treatment of animals? Can anyone tell me what the Quran/Koran says about the treatment of animals? Please don't tell me what you think it says, or what your interpretation of what it says is, just tell me what it CLEARLY says about the treatment of animals. Thank you.
Also, if you feel it relevant, tell me what the Sunnah says about the treatment of animals, if anything.
Answer: trust me am a muslim so please let me start by sunnah..because when it comes to animal rights sunnah has 2 stories that will show you how islam came up with the idea of animal rights more than 1400 years ago...
1-In Sunnah:
I have 2 storied for u but let me tell 1st this hadeeth from sunnah:
People once asked prophet mohammad....does god reward us when we treat animals well ?
Mohammed PBUH answered : "Theres a reward in every wet kidney"
its an expression meaning anything alive and walks or swims or whatever...god reward people when they treat it good...
theres a story about a man walking in the desert...its hot as hell and he passes by a well...so he stopped to drink...then after drinking he saw a dog with his tongue out grasping for his breath....and looking thirsty....so he tried to bring water from the well but the water was shallow....so he climbed down the rope...with his shoes he took some water in it...then came up...gave the dog a drink...
prophet mohammed tells us in a hadeeth that story, and also says what that man did...made god forgive all his sins in the after life...
second story:
there was a woman who hated animals....so one day a cat tried to get in her house....she beat her up then locked her in a room...
instead of kicking her out of the house as harsh as that seems...its better than leaving her in a room to starve to death...
and that woman prayed to god, she did good things, but deep down she has evil in her heart..
prophet mohammed also told that story and tells us that the woman went to hell...
2- In Quran
Well theres a lot of places where animals are mentioned but its to show how god created them for people to benefit from it...and other times to show the greatness of god's creations...its a lot..an nobody can tell u right away...Quran is a huge book...to sum up the quotes about animals it would take days...
Question: What is the best source on the Web to check Koran verses? Like, if you know the words in English, but you don't know what translation they're using. Also, I have no clue as to the structure of the Koran. Is it anything like the Bible, with books, chapters and verses?
Answer: Hi there
thanks for your interest in the Quran. They say that the Quran is like a mirror, those who approach it with whatever mindset they have will see themselves mirrored in their own interpretation of its verses
interesting stuff
anyways
http://altafsir.com/ - they have 4 or 5 tafsirs (interpretations of verses) several "translations" which means basic interpretations as well as "asbab an nuzul"- why verses were revealed- so you get a context for the verses
its a good site
the Quran is not organised in the way the bible is. Different parts were revealed at different times and the prophet Muhammad instructed his students in the order it was to be arranged- all his students memorised the text in that order and he himself recited the entire Quran in public (they didnt have books then but some did write it down on parchments and bone)

Question: What is the sunnah? Where is it found, in the Koran or in another book and what does it contain? I've always had a problem figuring out what the sunnah was. Some sources say that they are hadiths and stuff and i don't get it. I also want to know if the Koran speaks about the sunnah in any verse. Please anyone give me the answers.
Answer: Sunnah is an Arabic word that means The Way Or The Method adopted by Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) to demonstrate and practice Quran.
Practices Of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) are found in Hadiths Books, namely Sahih Bukhari.
Sunnah Matwatira. Is the practice in continuity that has been passed down next generations by previous generations, like, how to offer salat, paying zakah, fasting in the month of Ramadan. :)
Question: Were the liberals opposed to the Koran Burning also opposed to Wikileaks? Hypocrisy? Wikileaks endangered the troops and the libs didn't care. In fact they supported it. Now they are for protecting the troops over the burning of the Koran. Isn't this, to use the liberal PC phrase, disingenuous?
Answer: Well yes but that was some liberal who just let the fart out without running toward the media for publicity
Question: Can anyone tell me a non strict Muslims view on the Koran saying to strike your wife if she's disobedient? I have to do an SOR assignment on Muslim ethics and i have chosen to do Koran Verse 4:34. Is there anyone who can help me?
Answer: I don't believe you should strike your wife if she is disobedient but I think you can give her a spanky lol.
Question: Will gay people accept being married under the koran? I want to know if it makes any difference to be married on a koran instead of a bible?
Answer: What makes you think the Koran, or Sharia law, accepts, or will accept, homosexuals?
Question: Is it OK for NJ to fire a transit worker who burned pages of the Koran? From what we know, this bus driver was off duty and NOT wearing anything to indicate that he works for NJ transit. But he was fired yesterday for burning pages of the Koran on 9/11. He did not fight with anyone, he did not engage in violence.
It seems to me that the 1st Amendment protects Americans who burn flags, books, etc.
Is it OK that he was fired?
Answer: No, it is not ok.
He was off duty and was not representing himself as a spokesperson for NJ Transit.
He will win the suit if he chooses to bring it.
~M~
Question: Politics so now the Westbrook baptists are burning the Koran on saturday? Will it appease muslims that they also burning a us flag at the same time.
This is getting nuts is everyone going to start burning korans now.
Terry jones is also pissed that the Muslims lied(surprise) and is now thinking of going ahead with the Koran burning.
Answer: Monkey see, monkey DO...?
These are little people wanting their 15 minutes of fame, they are not interested in really dealing with the problem, just the superficial 'appearance' of dealing with the problem. ALL this will do is antagonize... everyone. I don't see Jesus doing this. Don't get me wrong, Jesus called liars, LIARS. Jesus spoke the truth in love, in a way that pierced their hearts.
