Access Veto
Type of reunion registry system. The veto is a document filed by one party to the adoption which registers that person's refusal to be contacted or denial of release of identifying information. In an access veto or nondisclosure request system, an adopted adult may receive identifying information about another party if no veto is on file. Some States may have provisions for a contact veto, permitting a party seeking information access to identifying information, including an original birth certificate, but prohibiting contact between the parties.
Question: Should the government limit access to abortion, and in which cases, veto a women's decision? Should the government limit access to abortion, and in which cases, veto a women's decision?
I am kind of lost, what do they mean by this?
Answer: Abortion can only be allowed if the pregnancy is prejudicial to the life of the mother or the unborn child. It is also allowed when the pregnancy is due to rape and incest.
Question: Why would a moral Christian President veto a bill granting some of our children access to healthcare? Many claim that morals come from religion. So, why are some of our more pressing moral obligations often forgotten?

Answer: Because Bush and the American Religious Right desperately fear anything that smacks of Socialism; Bush apparently takes his cue on social issues from Dickens's Scrooge:
"Are there no prisons? Are there no workhouses?"
Question: Can a nation that isn't a member of the United Nations have access to IMF and Wold Bank funds/loans? I'm asking this because I want to know if Russia will be in a position to veto any loans/funds that the newly formed state of Kosovo might want to get from these institutions in future. Someone mentioned to me that if a nation isn't a UN member, it doesn't have access to these lending institutions. Thank you.
Answer: First of all, we have to differentiate a state from a nation. Kosovo's declaration of independence makes it a state in the eyes of some. Kosovar Albanians could arguably form a nation, as per its definition.
It will indeed cause problems for Kosovo to obtain funds and loans from the World Bank and the IMF, as many countries will object. If the IMF or the World Bank did, in theory, decide to offer financial aid, it would cause instability among other countries who may decide to stop funding, or repaying loans; they wouldn't risk it.
However, wealthy Western countries, such as the US, the UK or France, countries who are expected to recognize Kosovo's independence, may offer special assistance and financial packages without passing through international instruments, on a bilateral basis. This is what I believe will happen. The EU may also fund Kosovar development projects, even if the organisation doesn't recognize Kosovo itself.
Oh, and India is a member of the UN.
Question: What are your thoughts on President Bush's promise to veto the expansion of the SCHIPS progam? SCHIPS is the State Children's Health Insurance Program which currently makes it possible for kids in families with income below 185% of the poverty level to have access to quality healthcare. Families with income below 150% of the poverty level pay no premiums, while families between 150-185% pay affordable premiums and copays for this program. Without the SCHIPS program millions of low income American children would be uninsured. The current expansion will include families between 185%-250% of the poverty level. The GMA (gross monthly, or before tax income) for a family of 4 at 185% is $3184.00 and at 250% of the poverty level is $4303.00.
Answer: I hope he keeps it.
Market-based and individual-based reforms are the way to go. Government involvement in health care only causes more problems.
Question: Will illegals get access to health-care benefits with SCHIP Bill that Bush vetoed ?
Kirk Neel : did you read the Bill ?
You should it will effect you .
Adam T :We are a country of laws and people who enter this country illegally are breaking US laws and are illegal in the eyes of US law .
Answer: Yes ,and it would include adults up to age 25 and in some states those who are 25 and makes up to 80 grand per year other bills that would include illegals would be the democatic universal health care , the 41 million Hillary speaks about not having coverage over half of those are illegal ..And another one that will also include illegals if they pass the "Dream Bill" which allows automatic citizenship to any illegal that was on US soil when they were 16 years old , and gives them free to half priced college tuition ( as long as they are not a legal resident ) as a gift to them from the American tax payers ......
Adam T you are a dumb@ss , there are illegals it is those who sneak across a National Legal Boundary and do not enter a Country by the legal means that have been in place for years before you ..
Question: Why do we punish Asians for working harder and getting better grades? Why are our best universities less stringent about excellence than the entertainment industry (pro sports). If anything, entertainement should be about cooperation and we should have representatives based on population percentage. Shouldn't there be more asians in the NFL and why should a race that is 12 % of the population have more than 50% of the NFL. African Americans were quick to accept affirmative action but are quick to press any advantage (like every group who fancies itself a minority and is political) and why are all of us accepting these massive pro sport salaries when the first thing we should do is regulate the price of entertainment...make it cheap, lets don't ruin our kids chasing the dream (when its full of womanizers, greed 25 times the average doctor...25 times...thats 200k to 5 million and that was being generous to doctors....shouldn't pro atheletes make 250-300k and shouldn't movie stars make half that...we have entertainment dictating what should be socialized, taxes and whats right so lets....for the sake of all us limit them and in a hurry...wouldn't it be nice to not spend 100 bucks to take 4 to the movies with popcorn...wouldn't it be nice if the 5 cent original pictures...to 25 cent in the 50s and 60s to going up 16 times in 15 years (62 to 77)...for a regular showing...and with the massive access to entertainment and channells it goes up...that is a monopoly and their salaries are as ludicrous as asians being barred by 200 percent to our top universities...the ivies would be 50 percent asian and they are much, much less....how come we screw each other over the hyped view of affirmative action...who is pulling the strings...follow the money...pro sports and pro hollywood...cheat, lie, steal, betray, swindle and your money then tell you to in effect....let them get richer why you suffer...and your hard work is over looked....
all asians should take up this view, this slant to prove via the the use the vial and the ludicrous to reveal the right...big lips and bondage gets you 25 million....why the average asian gets kicked in the balls....no wonder so many asians are leaving the us and returning to their homeland...350 pounds of people pushers get millions of year...how dumb are we gonna stay...
TIME TO LIMIT ENTERTAINMENT!
TIME TO DEMAND EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION.
TIME TO VETO THE AFFIRMATIVE CREDO...
how much longer does the average asian study compared to other races...only asians know it isn't intelligence....its how hard you work...and they work at the books like no one else...no excuse for not getting an A...how hard is it to teach that?
how about people are greedy and dumb and most of all lazy....
Oh...Im black and hate and despise american ghetto culture...was raised on a farm by the way.....so I know work....gangsta rap is killing black, void of culture and based on drugs and spineless woman having kids without fathers...25% of black men between ages 20-29 are in the criminal justice system and THE ONLY correlating fact isn't color its NO DAD= JAIL...liberals have fcked us, evil blamer preachers have fcked us, and instead of sticking up for some other "victim" i went looking for a deserving victim...do everything right and you still get fcked...fck of brotha...i'm not your brotha....and i had a father and motha.
asians had promising start...are you insane...japan was a military regime with an emperor until 1945....korea was at war until 1950s...china had 800 million can't read farmers in 1986...but they all had two parents, they all had hard work, and the opium dens which rocked asia where burn down and the abusers and pushers where beat and shot...pussy wimped young black men, with no respect and no discipline are whats wrong with the us....and yes your numbers are intriguining but do not tell the story and offers no chance for reform at the "i give a crap about my own kid level" its gone...its tv babysitting, everyone treat black people bad...your equal rights ****, based on character not begging, not pathetic crime rates...and speak about the bad ****, the obvioius facts...and then and only then are you worthy of any attention...
praising another...like the idea of black on black crime doesn't subtextually say, "its better to kill non blacks..." which is two wrong turns from jail, killing because of race and thinking about race...good behavior gets good results...holy crap...we had a better chance of having a dad in before 1865? You don't think that isn't pathetic, maybe you never had a dad, maybe you never were accused of getting into medical school because of your color...maybe you never busted your *** and so you learn to respect only those who do...your political hack is like jacking off to a beuatiful woman...it doesn't get you crap but a fake sense of confidence...and then you roll over see your fat *** wife and go to your shitty criminal ridden city where 25% of the kids have done time and no one gives a **** about their sons anyway...they love them the way a dog loves a bone, money from the goverment and a play toy.
thanks for helping the real cause...black people cursed bill cosby too...
its much worst than jealous...its discouraged...black people are discouraged and have taken on the idea that Obama and those like him are the way....share the wealth....how about cut business taxes and double minimum wage...how about realizing race and class struggles are mostly a political tool to get your vote and keep you thinking "i deserve more, I need more...take my vote..." democrats are black mothers who fck black men....in every way possible...no discipline, no dad...no chance for a life...and you act like you care? give a man what he needs...not 40 acres and mule...but two parents and some clean air void of drugs, ganstas and victimizing.....how about the real policy of taking 12 year old girls and making them baby sit a doll for hours at a time and telling them this is what happens when you have sex...how about doing the same thing to black boys...and teaching them..to fcking wait...get a life everyone who is comfy with the ghetto..get a fcking clue and get pissed off.
Answer: Yeah i'm Asian and being Asian is technically like taking 100 points off of your SAT. So lucky me right? I worry about getting into college everyday of my life ever since I was 7. For example, my friend who is Mexican had lower SAT score and same GPA than my Asian friend and she got into UCDavis while my Asian friend didn't.
As soon as colleges see that you are Asian, they aren't as sympathetic as if you were any other race.
Hell, blacks and Latinos get scholarships and easy access to universities just because they are a minority in prestigious universities. On the other hand, Asians get it hard in America in everything. The only reason they are so successful is because they never stop working. No pain, no gain.
To people that say that its not that bad, you're not Asian, you have no idea what we go through. So yoU’re not legit enough to voice your opinion. Ahem, to the black person whose excuses in everything in life is that centries and decades ago, blacks were descriminated and life wasnt fair to them even more blah blah blah. That excuse got old before you were born.
Question: Is there any differrence between the Republicrats? House Democrats are pressing for legislation that would expand congressional access to secret intelligence briefings, but the White House has threatened to veto it.
Courtesy of Pamela Hess, AP
Answer: A pox on all their houses
Question: Has the House finally done something right? The U.S. House defied a White House veto threat and voted to end a pilot program that gives from Mexico full access to U.S. highways. Still has to pass the Senate & Bush vows a veto, but FINALLY, Congress shows some brass. Mexico doesnt have the standards we have, a Trans Mexico-US mega highway is being pushed thru Texas, using eminent-domain to steal people's land.
And the whole thing smacks of a United States of North America conspiracy.
Answer: Even a homeless dog gets to lay in sunshine every once in a while. The NA Union is such an asinine idea maybe even the House & Congress can see it. Too bad they can't see that eminent-domain is nothing short of theft.
Question: In august Obama pledged to the American People that he would veto the ? Defense budget if it contained any pet pork projects, right ? So how many others agree that he either didn't read it before he signed it or is just plain stupid to believe these have any thing to do with the defense of this nation ?
∙$5 million for a visitors center in San Francisco
∙$23 million for indigent health care in Hawaii
∙$18 million for the Edward Kennedy Policy Institute in Massachusetts
∙$1.6 million to computerize hospital records in Oakland
∙$47 million for anti-drug training centers around the country
∙$20 million for the World War II Museum in Louisiana
∙$3.9 million grant to develop an energy-efficient solar film for buildings
∙$800,000 for minority prostate cancer research
∙$3.6 million for marijuana eradication in Kentucky
∙$2.4 million for handicap access and a sprinkler system at a community club in New York
these + 1710 others were in the bill !
Answer: What the hell does the 'Edward Kennedy Policy Institute' do, anyway? Support a policy of getting drunk, boating, cheating on your wife, and spending other people's money in congress like a drunken sailor on a 8 hour pass? With an occasional slip up like having an alcoholic blackout, driving off a bridge, and killing a 28 year old girl whose pants you were trying to get into? Oh wait, maybe he was just 'boating' at the time, but his boat sank, since it had wheels. DOH!
Question: Dates that Open Records laws passed in "Open Records States"? Can someone provide a link to a concise listing of the YEARS in which records opened in the various "open records" states (Oregon, New Hampshire, Kansas, etc.).
This is using the definition of "open records" common in the United States where "Open records" is defined as the unconditional (and unilateral) access for an adult adoptee to obtain his/her original birth registration. (Not the Canadian definition where both natural parents and adoptees enjoy equal access to amended and original birth records unless a veto has been filed)
Answer: Hi Redbook1,
Here is a link from the AAC that provides the information you requested.

Question: WHY do they call themselves conservatives? Conservative on
The separation church and state, as specified in the Constitution?
Respect for life, of course they're very religious, well unborn life at least, born life, they can wait until your at least eighteen then sent you off to war, the whole thou shall not kill thing, well whatever, lets move on.
Protecting the constitutional rights, spying on Americans, detaining people without access to justice, and then sending kids to war, on the premise of protecting the same liberties and rights.
The budget, spending the American people money? Bush ever heard of a veto?
My Dear, Namsaev
Why don’t you try practing your religion instead of preaching it, in government building and then maybe you’d might consider the death of innocent Iraqi children, as murder “literally”. Then take that little voice inside your head that tells you killing an unborn fetus is wrong and extend the same courtesy to living people, but I guess you like to negotiate your morality, just the way you like to negotiate civil liberties to whatever suits your purpose. The budget, I think speaks for itself… listening its screaming “Rubber Stamp!” “Rubber Stamp!” The line item veto is a good idea but its no excuse. As for Government programs, well why don’t you look up the new Medicare prescription program and see what a stand up job, you so called conservative are doing in Washington.
Answer: I can see how your question relates to your comments. Oh, no, wait. I see. This was just a way for you to vomit your diatribe on how you don't like conservatives. You're not really interest in a dialogue or an exchange ideas. You just want to bash conservatives. Ok... at least you're honest.
Question: Why can the noncustodial parent move very far away from the child without notifying or asking permission? The custodial parent is subject to being forced to stay within a certain area with the child so that the noncustodial parent can access the child for visitation. (Whether or not that other parent even bothers to visit, they can still veto any move.) So why can the noncustodial parent decide to move to the other side of the country without consulting the custodial parent when that too affects the visitation with the child? Doesn't that seem terribly unfair to both the custodial parent (who is doing all of the work anyway) and to the child? Isn't it a double-standard?
Answer: You bring up a good point. The reason behind the policy is that if the custodial parent chooses to go the children will go too - it displaces the kids. but if the non-custodial parent goes, that doesn't affect the kids. Whenever you want to relocate just file with court. If the non-custodial parent moves away there should be nothing keeping you from doing so too. Sorry there is a double -standard there, but that is the policy behind the law.
Question: how could unsealing records cause harm? "Under the new system, adoptees and birth parents can access records that were previously sealed. Adoptees can learn their original name, and birth parents can learn the current name of a child they placed for adoption. These details could ultimately lead to reuniting a long-separated parent and child.
There are now four Canadian provinces which have unsealed their adoption records: British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario and Newfoundland. However Ontario remains the only province without a "disclosure veto", which would allow anyone to keep their records sealed if they specifically requested it.
The Ontario legislation does give birth parents and adoptees the option to request they not be contacted (a "contact veto"), but to keep their records sealed they would need to prove to the Child and Family Services Review Board that revealing their identifying information would cause harm."
I am not adopted but two of my brothers are. They are Haitian. My mom ensures that they have regular contact with their father (they call him once a month) and has pics of their other sibling and family all over the house. There is no way she could deny that they aren't hers biologicaly... she is caucasian and they are very very dark skinned.
We know that it is absolutly in their best interest to keep them as connected as possible to their roots. I can not imagine telling them that they are not alloud to know about their birth parents.
why would some people think that revealing such info would be harmful?
yeah... 10 provinces and 3 territories
i know not many have nsealed them but hey... it's a start =)
mommy with puppies... you are right. I'm not saying what my mom does is always the right way... i just wanted to better understand the issue... and you make a very good point
Answer: We are the very rare case where a reunion could cause harm. Our son's mother has tried to kill him twice and is mentally ill. He can know and meet the extended family, but the decree specifically forbids any contact with her whatsoever.
Question: Is it best for my daughter to live her life without ever seeing me?...? Just got out of a really bad relationship and my girlfriend told me she was two months pregnant and having my baby. Said I would be allowed access but she wanted to veto my future girlfriends and if i got back together with my ex before her my access would be denied...Walked away cos i'm scared she'll use the baby to manipulate my life... I would love to see my daughter but i don't want to confuse her and i think she'll just inherit my ex's negative feelings towards me and my ex will always try to make an example of me... also i think i'll be so far down the pecking-order that i won't be able to be a proper father to her... answer without prejudice please...
My daughter was born in May and i still havent seen her. I have to admit its a self-confidence thing. The relation ship i had with the mother was damaging and left me with real bad low self-esteem. Every time i spoke to her she dragged me back there with insults so i just gave up. My confidence is coming back now i havent spoke to her but i don't think my ex is interested in me being a father in my own right and will stop at nothing to f**k me up...
...also it takes just as much balls to walk away and accept she'll never know you... There is no easy answer to this one.
Answer: hallo olly, are you man,I don't think so bcoz you are a father of your child do you know you how much happy movent for you this and you think about your past time, hei man just go there where your baby now and take on your hand and give a lot of pyar bcoz you are the father of your new baby ok .ya this is true when you arrive there you ex girl friend may be angry on you and I think she tell you some miswords for his angriness but don't hear any words of her 1st you love with your new baby after then if you want to take some decision then you can talk with your exgirl friend no problem I think when you touch your baby according to that situation if you feel sad then don't break your eyes this is my solution, hei be chearup you are a father of missworld baby so don't worry.be a father yar.and hallo don't say she is your exgirl friend now she is your baby's mother yar
Question: I rescued a turtle, Need help identifying it.? Pictures www.Myspace.com/goldmercury
I have narrowed it down to either a Cooter, or red-bellied turtle only its belly ain't red. It hasn't eaten but it's doing much better energy wise than when I first saw it. Am treating an infection on its skin with MMS, works great saw results after first series of treatments(Hopefully the public will still have access to MMS as now Uncle Sam is vetoing the supply of Sodium Chlorite the prime ingredient.)
Answer: You should post the photos somewhere that people can see it, not just myspace members.
Didn't the person you "rescued" it from know what it is?
Question: Hold out or sign with a major for less control??? How would you feel if something you created was used unethically? I recently was offered a deal to sign with a major industry label making something I do out of integrity-(music, I am a singer) but they wouldn't give me control over what happened with it- it could be used in commercials and stuff if they choose that I don't condone. It is VERY hard to get that kind of deal (artistic control) if you need it. Usually if one builds up the reputation and distribution and shows then one doesn't need the major label anymore, and they're more ammenable to giving such concessions out. I can't get then to add anything in at this point even to give me access to that control at any point in the business relationship.
At this point I am holding out for artistic integrity. The legals of their contracts means they own the royalties and retain creative control to veto things or use for commercials or whatever they would want.
Any reason you can think of to give it more consideration??
Answer: i think i'll opt to hold out. i love creating things, too-- drawing, painting, sugar craft, etc-- and each creation has a part of me in it because i work from the heart. if one of my creations is "bought" from me and used in a way that i dont agree with or have any control about, i think id be too hurt. its ike a part of me was treated badly, too.
while i cant command prices (and boy, who doesn't need money these days?), i dont just accept any business deal that goes against the principles that i uphold.
besides, your name goes with the song. whatever they do with it could make or break you. i think i'd err on the side of being overly cautious, than lose everything iv worked hard for to this point.
im a nobody in the eyes of the world. but im somebody in my eyes. i cant afford to lose my self-respect, if it's all i have in the end.
have a great day!
Question: What do you think Schwarzenegger Vetoes Dream Act and giving illegals legal drivers license? SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Thursday vetoed a bill that would have allowed illegal immigrants to get driver's licenses, saying the state should wait for federal regulations designed to combat terrorism.
Schwarzenegger said his administration was working with federal officials to develop the federal guidelines for the REAL ID Act of 2001, and to get money to help the state pay to comply with them.http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/con…
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger vetoed the California DREAM Act Tuesday night for the second time in two years, once again shutting out undocumented students from state financial aid.
The act would have granted undocumented students access to financial aid administered by the UC system, the CSU system and the state's community colleges, including grant, scholarship, work-study and loan programs.
Schwarzenegger vetoed an earlier version of the DREAM Act last October. It was first introduced in February by State Sen. Gilbert Cedillo, D-Los Angeles.
In his veto message on Tuesday, the governor wrote that it was not appropriate to pass the bill given the condition of the state's economy.
http://www.dailycal.org/article/102873/g…
Answer: California is already spending about $10 billion annually on illegal aliens. The unemployment rate is up to 7.7%.
With economic problems, the real dilemma here is how long will California be able to afford financial aid to the citizen students? What about their dreams?
Driver's licenses. When someone moves to the US legally, then they should have the privilege of driving.
Question: Lock Managers? I have a manager in my free fantasy baseball league that is bitter because several of his trades have been vetoed. To get his revenge, he has told me he will veto every trade, fair or otherwise. He has access to 3 other managers passwords and has loggeed on to veto some trades because combined with his team, he can have four rejections. If I lock his team during the voting period, can he still vote on a trade?
Answer: He cannot do anything if you lock him as far as I know. Next time, if you are commisioner, you should try to make it so you decide whether or not a trade goes through.

Answer: Not only social security, but schools and health care services are also being used by illegal aliens. They have no right to school or medical care if they are here illegally. They are breaking the law and they should be put in jail and then sent back to Mexico. Why should people who break the law be given any kind of reward or should be allowed to use any government benefits. I see all these rallies on t.v and they are all saying how they are Americans, but they are not Americans at all, they are law breakers and should pay like anyone else. I'm sorry that Mexico is so messed up, but it is not the job of the United states to help you out. I'm sure that if Americans started to cross into Mexico in huge numbers, the government of Mexico would be up in arms and the boarder would look more like a war zone. Mexico wants illegals here because it helps out Mexico, they don't put any money back into the u.s.a, they send it back home. And people also say how they are only taking jobs that Americans won't do, that's a bunch of crap, because they take good jobs from Americans and they drive our wages way down, why pay me 15 dollars an hour when they can pay an illegal 8 dollars to do the same job. Its wrong and has to stop.
Question: What’s at the heart of the SCHIP debate.? What’s at the heart of the SCHIP debate.
Congress faces a critical question this week: Will U.S. health care be government-run, or will Americans be given the freedom to obtain their insurance plans and medical care from private firms? The next U.S. president will likely answer this question, but the resolution to the current debate about SCHIP — the State Children’s Health Insurance Program, a state and federal government partnership for insuring poor children — that is roiling Washington, D.C., will preview the answer.
Although health care is a crucial issue for the electorate; traditionally, presidential candidates have avoided any but the blandest generalities. Health care is the third rail of politics. Its complexity, size, and multiple, committed stakeholders scare away most would-be saviors.
Yet, the underlying debate is simple: It is all about who will manage and control the health-care sector that comprises one-seventh of our economy. Will individual Americans have the freedom to make their own choices? Or, will we trust government bureaucrats, lawyers, and politicians to make those decisions for them? Our future health-care system will be shaped by how we answer these simple questions.
Let’s be clear: The SCHIP battle is not about whether to insure poor children. The debate is about how to insure them: Via the government or private insurers? This debate has not only pitted Democrats against Republicans but has also sundered the Republican coalition. Some Democrats wanted SCHIP expanded by $50 billion dollars so that even families earning about $81,000 a year who have eligible children were included. (The 2005 U.S. median household income was $46,000.) A resolution with the Republicans who hold minority leadership roles led to a compromise, costing only $35 billion, which allowed coverage for those earning up to $60,000.
A fundamental problem with this compromise is that the same amount of coverage for children within SCHIP costs $1,000 more per child than under private insurance. A group of forward-thinking Republicans led by U.S. Senator Richard Burr (R., N.C.) and others has an entirely different idea of how to provide insurance: they want to cash out eligible people and enable them to use this money to buy health insurance from private insurers in a tax-protected way. Count the president in too. He has pledged to veto legislation that permits expansion of the present program.
None of the combatants’ are supported by an unblemished array of evidence. The Democrats support the expansion of SCHIP by lauding the universal coverage and substantially lower costs of single-payer, government-run systems, like the U.K.’s and Canada’s. Yes; but costs are controlled by rationing health care to the sick. More than 20,000 Brits would not have died from cancer in the U.S. Onerous waiting lists have caused illegal, for-profit health-service centers to proliferate in Canada. These rogue establishments are so well-accepted that the head of one became the president of the Canadian Medical Association. Nor do single-payer systems achieve equality of access or health status — the powerful, assertive, litigious, and connected go to the head of the line.
In the U.S., the government-controlled Medicaid program has achieved its low costs per person by stringent limits on provider prices. As many as 40 percent of doctors refuse to see Medicaid enrollees, leading to reduced health care quality. Physicians who accept Medicaid often shift their un-reimbursed costs to the privately insured. A system totally paid by the government would shut down this escape hatch, exacerbating the current shortage of primary care doctors.
But the group of Republicans who support private insurance acknowledge that they cannot laud health insurance as a model industry. The massive bureaucracies patients all-too-often encounter when they attempt to obtain the medical services they paid for are not merely frustrating, they sometimes kill. Free-market Republicans claim that the problem with the U.S. insurance firms arises from their lack of accountability. Agents, such as governments and employers, use our money to buy health plans. The agents’ incentives — simplicity and cost control — are not well aligned with our needs for responsiveness.
Senators Richard Burr (R., N.C.), Bob Corker (R., Tenn.) and others want to refigure the tax code so that we could buy health insurance with tax-sheltered money, a right currently reserved solely for our employers. If we purchased our own health insurance with tax-protected funds, we could keep these arrogant behemoths in check, just as we do in the other sectors of the American economy. The Swiss universal-coverage, consumer-driven system requires people, not employers or governments, to buy health insurance. (The poor primarily receive funds to purchase insurance just like everybody else.) This consumer control enables the Swiss to enjoy an excellent quality of care without the social inequality of single-payer countries at costs that are a third lower than ours.
SCHIP is not merely a debate about yet another mystifying government program. It is all about free-market principles versus government mandates. Giving taxpayers the freedom to choose and buy their own health care would unleash powerful market forces that have been subdued by third-party bureaucracies for the last 60 years. In every area of our economy, market forces have transformed rare, costly products and services like cars and computers into common products and services. We can make health care cheaper, better, and more widely available, if Congress can muster the vision and courage to act.
Answer: That is the longest question ever...lol
The debate is about :
1. whos responsibility is it to provide for an individual?
(personal accountability)
2. Who is poor? (who is deserving/who is undeserving)
3. Who is a child? (>18,>24...what is it?)
Why does Congress continue to want to tweek things that are not broken?
