Question: Can insurance policy be contested based on marriage and birth of children? My husband took out a life insurance policy before he got married or had children. Husband died young and did not change the person he had initially appointed beneficiary. Can the policy be contested so that husband`s minor children (children are all under 10 years old) to be beneficiaries of the policy.
Answer: Sorry for your loss. Beneficiary of a life insurance policy can not be revoked or be overruled by the court. It is a binding contract.
Question: What is the most contested issue regarding outsourcing of manufacturing or services to other countries? I want to find out what is the most contested issue today regarding outsourcing a process to other countries? A process for example: manufacturing of a product or providing a service. Could it be a) Quality, b) Security, or c) the effect on US economy? Do you have another issue?
I am conducting this study in order to narrow my research (thesis) and help my readers (US manufacturers) develop the most effective controls of outsourced practices. Your experience(s) are also welcomed.
Answer: While this may not be what you are looking for, I feel that this is the most difficult issue in the outsourcing situation.
From working in the automotive manufacturing capital of the US, I believe the most hotly contested issue is definitely the problems that result here in the US when the jobs leave our country.
One factor that might be interesting for you to research would be in the automotive industry supply chain and its ripple effect on the economy as these jobs move out of the US.
Not only are the Big 3 (Ford, Chrysler, and GM) losing jobs, but the contracts they use with their suppliers are very unfair to the suppliers.
In the automotive manufacturing business, there is a beast known as the QS-9000 and TS:16949 Quality Control system that has been adopted by all 3 automotive manufacturers (Ford, GM, and Daimer-Chrysler). Their suppliers are in Tiers. Tier One manufacturers produced parts directly for one of the Big 3 customers. Tier Two suppliers manufacture parts that will be sold and assembled into a Tier One companies parts; Tier 3 makes parts for Tier Two and so on. In order for GM, Ford or Chrysler to be certified, the supply chain must only be supplied by those companies also certified. That can include a company with only one employee (if that supplier will produce something that is part of the automotive supply chain).
Their contracts are based on typically a several year agreement, and they suppliers are locked into manufacturing parts for so many years. However, the Big 3 can demand a price concession or lock in the rates for the duration of the contract, so the supplier ultimately ends up losing money. As a result, the supplier often cannot afford to stay in business. What happens when they lose a customer and the resulting orders? They lay off their workers.
What happens then is that suppliers here in the US refuse to continue negotiating for these contracts, take a financial loss, or either retool or go out of business. What results is that 3rd world countries then vie for these contracts.
Now you can see why Michigan's economy is in such bad shape. Not only have we lost the jobs in the Big 3, but also the lower paying manufacturing jobs in the Tier 1, 2, and 3 suppliers. I'm not sure about the ripple effect, but our state's economy has been largely focused on this industry to a high percentage of total jobs in our state.
I believe Henry Ford once stated that he decided to pay his workers a higher wage than all other industries because he realized that if his workers could afford the vehicles, he created a customer base.
Can you afford to pay 42K for a vehicle?
Question: How should I phrase my contested hearing statement? I live in washington st and I have a contested hearing today about a stop sign violation ticket i got back in march. I am a 100% sure i stopped. I was wondering what the best advice you have for me to present a statement in court ?
Answer: It will be your word against the officer who stopped and cited you. Was anyone in the car with you that can testify for you?
If not, tell your story clearly, slowly and without unnecessary detail. But if there are true details that make your story more believable, include them.
For example, I once received a ticket for running a stop sign. But I was sure that I had stopped. I was sure because when I stopped, my soda fell over and spilled in the car. I stopped at the sign and while I was stopped I picked the cup up.
Telling my true story with these details helped make my case.
But the most important thing here: tell the truth. Do not add things that did not happen to improve your story. Judges who hear cases all day can spot people who are adding things that don't belong.
Good luck.
Question: How far did the Pre-Raphaelites express contested discourses on the role of women in the mid Victorian period? Can any kind soul please recommend/suggest good books/reading material (not souvenir books), to help answer the question:
How far did the Pre-Raphaelites express contested discourses on the role of women in the mid Victorian period?
Thanking you in advance for your assistance.
Answer: Much of the Pre-Raphaelite art is based on stories and legends. However, a couple of works come to mind, such as Hunt's The Awakening Conscience and Rossetti's Found. You may find the following website of interest:

Interestingly, many members of the PRB had mistresses, who were often used as models.
There is an excellent discussion of Victorian moral issues and the PRB in Rosenblum and Janson's 19th-Century Art, Abrams, 1984.
Question: Why is the Spratlys Island or Freedom Islands being contested by different countries? Why are the Spratlys being contested? What are the bases used by each country to support their claim on the Spratlys? What have been the actions of each country in their pursuit of the Spratlys? Please include your own personal opinion.
--- my assignment... I have a hard time finding it...
Answer: The Spratlys have become enormously interesting in the last few years because there might be oil there. At present
claims to it are held by China, Vietnam, Malaysia and the Philippines.
Some years ago the Chinese put some structures there for fishermen to shelter. These were later removed after the Philippines protested and sent a navy destroyer there.
There is also a strategic reason to have control of it.
These islands are in the Southern part of the South China Sea and are physically closer to Malaysia and the Philippines than China.
There is also a claim by the Vatican who had missionaries pass through the islands in the 18th.century when they were uninhabited and apparently unknown to those who today claim ownership.
I believe the issue can be resolved easily by working out which country is the closest to it, which I believe is Malaysia.

Question: How do you know if your divorce is contested if you file online? I had my soon to be husband served last Wednesday, and I was wondering how would I know if it was being contested or not.
Answer: If you agree on everything, then it is typically uncontested even if two of you decide to have divorce lawyers. In my case, I was the only one who hired an attorney so that everything was filled out and submitted to courts properly. My ex-wife didn't have a lawyer. We pretty much agreed on things. So, it was relatively easy and painless and only took 60 days which is the minimum time you have to wait if there are no kids. So, if you receive any kind of paperwork from your husband's lawyer, then it most likely be contested. Contested divorce will cost you a lot more money. That's why it always makes sense to agree on things before hand, otherwise it can get messy. Best of luck
Question: How long does a contested nofault divorce take in PA? I know that If you file for a non-contested No-fault divorce it takes 90 days to be finalised. But if you have already been seperated for two years, from the time that you file the divorce, how long does it take for it to become final? Is there still the 90 day wait?
Answer: Years, and by then, whoever in the house has sold everything anyway.
Question: what is a contested track notice in reference to a divorce? ?what is a contested track notice in reference to a divorce?
Answer: A Notice that the divorce will be contested, as opposed to the more normal uncontested version. It means a different type of process, rather than the simple process used for uncontested actions.
Question: Can a will be contested if if specifically states who is entitled? My dad recently passed away. A few weeks before he passed he made a will stating my brother and I are to each receieve half of his estate. My greedy half sister (who is not my father's child) is trying to get a part of it. It specifically states in my dad's will that she is not to recieve anything from him. If she contested the will, would she be able to get anything from it, since he specifically excluded her?
Answer: Ok--I'll try to break it down as basic as I can.
Probate court = a special court where the state decides (based upon state, federal, local laws and the person's will) how to distribute a dead person's material possessions.
And thus, how much money the state will collect in estate taxes, court fees, etc.
The probate court also determines who are the legal heirs--thru birth certificates, marriage licenses, etc. and legal instructions (the will), and how much is to be given to each heir.
Probate estate = the possessions which the court decides are legally available for distribution to the person's heirs.
And thus, are subject to estate taxes, court fees, etc.
So your half-sister can go to probate court and contest the will.
But the court has to decide if she has a legitimate claim and how much, if any, she is entitled to receive.
Since the will was made/changed so close to his death there are a few tactics she can try.
It's possible she could claim that he was unduly prejudiced against her by one of you and thus removed from the will.
Or she could claim that he was mentally incompetent, and the current will should be voided.
Either could be an effective argument if there was a previous will listing her as one of his heirs, or she had a letter or something which showed his state of mind.
If there's a good amount of money at stake--you'd be wise to retain an estate lawyer.
Question: What would be the most evenly contested Militaries on Earth, Allied or hostile ? So to match up the most evenly contested countries either friendly or enemy, who would they be ?
ie, Would Canada V's Australia be an even contest ?
OR UK v's USA ?
OR China v's Russia ?
OR Korea v's Japan ?
OR The Netherlands v's South Africa ?
Answer: USA could beat everyone no problem. We have beaten half of that list in the last half a century.
Russia could nuke the world, but these days, in a conventional war, they would be sucking ***.
China, once it gets it GDP up and spends a few years building its military, will be a force to be reckoned with -- on par with where the USA was in the early 20th century.
(But we still spanked everything they had with a reasonably small expeditionary force back in the 1950s. Hooah!)
The surprise contender on that list is Japan. If they want it, the can have a few thousand nukes in about three weeks -- they will yield giga-tons and be the size of wristwatches. Seriously though, they could field an amazing conventional force in a short time, perhaps a year or two. They have the funds, the people, and the industrial capacity.
Also, South Korea, while not near Japans capability, is an amazing force. They are armed with the latest and greatest weapons systems from the US and the ROK troops are tough! They could dominate the region in a military conflict -- unless Japan went all out.
Question: I missed an Episode 7 of Top Chef, where they contested about cooking a sweet dish without sugar. Where can? I missed an Episode 7 of Top Chef, where they contested about cooking a sweet dish without sugar. Where can I catch that episode?

Question: Can a family trust be contested or lost? Can a family trust be contested or lost. I am being told by the person controlling the trust that I have to wait until it is resolved to know when or if I will get my money.
Answer: Trust are a funny part of the law. It is not a will for the person who benefits has already been named. There are trust that had certain conditions with them that must be meant. There are also problems such as if it was a funded trust, if it was funded and the conditions have been meant then there should be no reason that the trust can not be paid out.
If the trust was not funded then it is funded from the estate of the deceased, in this case all bills must be paid before the trust can be paid out. In this case if there is not enough to pay what was named in the trust then the person named in the trust is out of luck.
The only thing a person named in a trust can do is ask for an audit of the trust and estate. You can not contest it, for it is not a will but a trust. The audit is the way to go.
You did not say in your question or you may not know if it was a funded trust or not and if conditions were put on the trust.
Also it depends on the way the trust was worded, as to if and when it must be paid.
Some states by lass for example MA, advices all to wait 12 months before paying out unfunded trusts, to ensure all bills from the estate are paid and cleared.
Question: What to do about contested divorce after two years of seperation? My husband and I have been seperated for 2 years and he is refusing to sign the papers. I don't want to be married to anymore than he wants to be married to me. We have been married for 23 years this September but seperated for the last 2 years of that 23 years. We live in Georgia and I'm wondering what can I do, if anything, to get this divorced finalized--with or without his consent.
Answer: Contact the people who actually know about this, in the state of Georgia. This isn't the sort of advice you should ask of strangers on the internet, who likely know nothing solid.
Question: Why are the scrums in rugby league not contested like in union? I realise there are no flankers but why are they not contested better? It seems pointless to have a scrum, the ball might as well be given to the team with the put in without the bother of a scrum down.
Injuries don't occur that often in union and there are 4 extra players pushing, contested scrums enhance the game not slow them down.
Lennyzero..that makes no sense, if you want to win the ball back.. contest the scrum, otherwise you might as well give the other team the ball.
Answer: The thinking behind it is that the game will be faster as the scrums should never need to be reset, it also congregates the forwards together at a restart to give the game a chance to move wider, faster.
Bradford Bulls contested scrums about five seasons ago and took loads of balls against the head, but to negate that the League allowed the ball to be thrown into the second rows feet so it could again be moved out faster.
You are completely right about it being pointless, a bit like when we have to have incontested scrums in Union.
Question: What does a highly contested battle for the Massechussetts Senate seat say about the upcoming 2010 midterms? Even if Brown loses on Tuesday, it sure does speak volumes about how much trouble the Democrats are already in. This is LOUD hint of what is coming in the 2010 and 2012 elections.
The Dems are struggling and tripping all over themselves over this Massechussett's seat and are secretly freaking out because of the message it sends.
The GOP has already won even with a Brown loss.
LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!
Answer: Well put.
I guess the American public really isn't as stupid as our "leaders" thought.
Just a little too complacent-that's all changing now.
Question: How does a person write an ironclad will that cannot be contested? When writing a person's children out of a will, I'd expect there would be automatic contention especially if the estate was rather large. How does one go about avoiding that?
My stepmother wishes to not leave anything to two of her sons that have been estranged from her for years. She does plan on leaving a little something to her daughter although they are also on the outs. She will also leave something to her son-in-law (who is in the process of divorcing her daughter) and she will leave "something to me". I am her stepdaughter.
Answer: Hire an estate attorney who will tell you that ANYTHING can be contested.
But, he will do everything possible to accomodate your last wishes.
You MUST have an attorney for this.
Question: How to finalize a contested divorce in California? There are no attorneys involved. The Petition was filed in May. OSC re support has been heard and order made. There are no other issues to resolve. What papers need to be file to get the divorce final and all parties legally single? I hope someone can help. Thank you.
Answer: Call a lawyer and ask for a consultation with him. It won't cost very much, if anything, and will answer all your questions.
Question: In Nevada how many times can a will be contested? I was named in a will along with several of my cousins. My uncles daughter, who was expressly written out of the will about a decade before he passed, has contested the will once and lost. In conversations with the family she has said she will continue to appeal until there is nothing left as she would rather have no one get it if she cant have it. Once she has contested adn lost, and appealed and lost, can she continue to appeal over and over as she plans?
Answer: She may appeal the district court's decision to the state Supreme Court. When that appeal is exhausted, your cousin has no further recourse in Nevada courts on this issue.
Nevada is one of just 11 states that do not have an intermediate appellate court, placing the burden on the Nevada Supreme Court to resolve all appeals.
Surely, in a contested probate matter, you have an attorney. Why didn't you ask your attorney for this information?
Question: How come Barak Obama's contested citzenship is not being made widely public by the mainstream media? I just heard about this. I know the obvious answer that the media is infatuated with Obama, but surely this would be a big deal?! Is it true?
Angry replies are not necessary. I'm trying to get to the truth not spread rumors. If you read my question you'd see that I wrote "contested citzenship". I am not saying he is or isn't, I was just wondering why I hadn't heard about this before, seeing as McCain's citzenship was big news when questioned.
Answer: I have no idea. This has been going on since last month and they have NEVER picked it up. Amazing. Even better, Obama is fighting them every step of the way. Annenberg owned factcheck.org claims they scanned the document themselves and touched it, had it physically in their hands. If this is the case, then it should be absolutely NO problem to turn over the documents in question. Instead, Obama's team requested the judge withhold until judging on the motion to dismiss. If this was a question during a campaign, I would do EVERYTHING to make sure it was cleared up immediately. In fact, I would go out of my way to make sure that the rumor was squashed by proving them wrong. He has done no such thing. Instead, he fights them.
