Rebuttal
The act of rebutting or contradicting in a legal suit.
Question: Need a rebuttal for an arguement against corn ethanol production in the US? I am writing a proposal argument on corn ethanol production and I need a rebuttal. I start with an intro, tell the problem including background, seriousness, and any previous attempts to solve. Go into my proposal listing alternative solutions. Opposition is next followed by the "rebuttal". This is where I am stuck. I need a good example to go here. Like an analogy maybe? Thanks!
Answer: The biggest rebuttal is it takes more energy to produce a gallon of ethanol, than the energy in a gallon of it. Another is it cannot be shipped by pipe. It must be transported by truck or rail, costing more use of fuel to transport, and putting the public in greater danger if an accident occurs during transport.
Question: How to write a rebuttal for a debate? How do I write a rebuttal for my debate. My topic is fairly easy its about protecting the environment and making it a condition of aid. But how do I pre write a rebuttal for my debate? Can it include new information? Any help would be great thanks!
Answer: In any pre-written rebuttal, its always important to predict what your opponent might say. Ask yourself, what would be the most obvious argument for the opposing side?
In your case for example, your opponent might argue that the environment is important and that countries who destroy it do not deserve aid and withholding aid is a way to make them change their ways.
You can rebut this by saying that the reason why some developing countries have such bad environmental records is that they have little money to spend on protecting it or their industries heavily rely on trees for example. You then say that giving them aid in order for them to develop into 1st world countries in the future will in fact help them become less dependent on environmentally destructive methods and instead move on to more high tech industries that do not require logging or too much pollution.
Also remember to include pertinent information such as statistics and facts to support your rebuttal and always remember to sound logical and convincing.
Lastly, DO NOT rebut for too long as it will take time away for your arguments. A rebuttal is only a way to respond or counter what your opponent says but WILL NOT win you the debate.
Hope you do really great though! :D
Question: What term do you think we should use as a rebuttal for the f and cs words? I personally call any straight man who makes homophobic remarks around me a cuunnt eater (the extra un is in to prevent a deletion) because it is all I can currently think of to use as a rebuttal based perjorative. Like H. Rap Brown and Stokely Carmichael with the word Honky, we need a rebuttal perjorative for the straight men who continue to deny us our rights, any suggested words?
Answer: The word "Breeder" seems to yank a lot of peoples chains >_>
Question: What would be a good rebuttal when my opponent says the ICC provides no trial by jury and is unconstitutional? It is my first time debating and I was told by my captain that i need to come up with a rebuttal argument for if my opponent says that the US going the ICC is unconstitutional because it provides no trial by jury. I've searched everywhere and combined with having to write my own case without any help from my team, i could really use some help. Does anyone have a good rebuttal for that claim?
Answer: Well, the constitution does in fact say that for all crimes where the punishment is over 6 months, you are allowed to have a trial by jury. Here are a few points.
1) By ratification of a treaty it becomes law of the land, coequal with the constitution.
2) The ICC is not constitutional, in the sense that it does not derive its powers from the U.S. constitution, but rather from an agreement among states. This is true of any treaty, so the argument is non-unique.
3) No link-The meaning of trial by jury has changed significantly since the founding, where jury meant unanimous decisions by 12 people. The constitution is silent on these matters.
4) No link-The constitution refers to U.S. criminal matters, not international criminal matters.
5) No impact-So what if it is unconstitutional, you get to pass plan by fiat, it is not like the supreme court can over turn it or anything. In debate you assume that whatever your proposal is actually happens, and that we then debate the implications of whatever the action is. It is not like the constitution has not been violated repeatedly in the last couple years, and we still think it is important.
6) Turn- By U.S. participation in the ICC, we can call for jury trials to be implemented (were we so inclined).
Question: How can I write a rebuttal to this sentence? Im writing a research paper and I need a rebuttal to this sentence:
"With growth comes development and with development comes maturity."
Can anybody help me with it?
Answer: this is hard because i agree with the sentence but you can say....
not every growth result in development and maturity because it depends on the environment. for example, you get an education to grow. it's true that getting education can result in development of ideas. however, this development does not lead to maturity because what if you are raised in a harsh environment with bad education. you are still growing but with negative developments and immaturity like paris hilton with spoiled parents and easy environment.
also you don't need growth to develop something, if you are consistent with your ideas, you can develop a concrete based development.
Question: What would be a good rebuttal against Euthanasia? I'm in a debate for Euthanasia and I am supposed to have a rebuttal question for the opposing side. I'm just looking for some ideas.
Answer: Use the same argument the feminists use where it comes to Abortion. "Its MY body! I should have a say as to what happens to it!"
If "Roe vs Wade" was blessed off by the Supreme Court as the law of the land, What right does the Government have in stopping an old person from Self-Terminating?
Good Luck!
Question: Why are the Republicans at the HC Summit just concentrating on changing the process and rebuttal? Why are the Republicans at the HC Summit just concentrating on changing the process and rebuttal, while the Democrats are focused on finding solutions?
Answer: Because the Republicans never had any intention of working with the President and the Democrats on resolving the health care bill issue.
They're trying to filibuster the summit and I'm glad President Obama isn't having it.
Thank you, Mr. President, for trying, now just pass it without the Republicans.

Answer: There are scads of them, now. I wish they had been available in my youth and they would have saved me a lot of time. But now, have at it. Lookit:

Question: How do you write a rebuttal on a Sociology lecture? My professor wants at least 5 rebuttals on lectures through out the semester.
1) im confused as to what a rebuttal even is
2) well.... i don't guess there is a two......
Help please
Answer: Its a good logical reasoned argument disagreeing - In your case its with any point you hear in a lecture.
So as you are listening and taking notes think also about whether you agree or not - Its easier to make a rebuttal if its really something you dont agree with you will need to research who else disagrees Unless its a marxist lecture you can usually use him but try to use all the sociological perspectives that you have learned to give your argument against (This is called a counter argument as well as a rebuttal) S/he wants you to learn how sociologist work at chewing over the details from different perspectives so that we have a very well rounded presentation of the facts - So whatever perspective the lecture is demonstrating think about how other sociologists working in a different way would see the same issue. Then research and form an argument.
Question: Did Bobby Jindal hurt his chances in the 2012 Presidential race by giving the rebuttal the other night? Why would the GOP railroad an up and coming star in the party like that?
Until the rebuttal, I actually thought that Jindal had the best chance at upsetting Obama in 2012.
I don't see how any Republican is going to stand a chance against Obama in 2012 now.
Answer: Hurt? He committed poltical suicide on national TV

Question: What do you think of this rebuttal to the watchmaker argument? I have always thought that if the universe was in fact designed (who knows the answer to this!) the most intelligent mode of design would be evolution. But people have said that nature's complexity would have to have a creator, just like a complex instrument like a pocket watch has a creator.
But let's consider the history of time keeping itself. No one person built a watch from scratch. The idea evolved over time. The earliest efforts at time keeping were simple, sometimes involving a mere crack in a stone marked so the position of the sun could be tracked each year. Then monuments like stonehenge were built, then sundials, and then things such as water clocks preceded our modern clocks. You can check out more on the evolution of time pieces at (http://physics.nist.gov/GenInt/Time/earl…
Have you heard this rebuttal before? How would you rate it's support of evolutionary theory as opposed to intelligent design?
Answer: This rebuttal is okay, but the process of making a watch is derived from humans and not nature. The comparison is similar, but many people will argue against you on that because we humans created it (a cat didn't and still can't after many years of being on Earth). So a better argument would be the creation of something natural (such as the grand canyon) that we KNOW was naturally created and is magnificent.

Question: how do i structure the rebuttal in my oral speech? my english teacher said i need to put a rebuttal in my oral. How do i structure a rebuttal? i wouldnt have a clue!
Answer: u listen to what the opponent had to say
and then u write down their arguments in order of what they said
their oral should be correctly structured, so it's pretty clear and simple what they're arguments are
think of their arguments like paragraphs
u just have to identify what each paragraph is about
and then u start with their first argument, say what it was, say what u have against it, expand on it in a few sentences and go on to the next argument in a clear way
so use words like firstly, secondly
the opposition's final argument was.....
the opposition also stated that
etc.
hope this helps
:P
Question: what would be a good rebuttal for convicting the creature from frankenstein? we are having a mock trial and it is the state vs. the creature and i would like to blow everyone out of the water w/ a great rebuttal do you have any ideas
Answer: Well the monster didn't create himself, for one. If anyone should be convicted it should be Victor. If he was going to play God he should have at least made the monster knowledgeable of 'good' and 'bad' and input morals into him (We all know it wasn't really possible for him to create a living thing, so saying that he should have given him morals isn't far fetched).
The monster is innocent, in my eyes. He was created, driven away from any sort of love or affection and had no idea what he had done to the people he hurt. He has no sense of humanity or evil except that society doesn't accept him. He didn't ask to be created. Victor did it and did not acknowledge the consequences.
