Question: Do the Star Wars movies support the hypothesis that societies downfall begin when families separate? Millions of years from now in the archaeological record two terms will be phonetically interpreted similar in sound they are "divorce" and "the force."
Answer: Downfall of society as some know it, perhaps. But not as a result of family separation. If anything, The 'Star Wars' series seemed to advocate a communal system. In this series, the occupations mandated the living and social arrangements. People were to take a second priority to the job at hand. As if 'work' was God, and the people's emotional desires and personal attachments meant nothing...a very cold and militaristic approach. 'Star Wars' is pointing out the inherent vulnerabilities of our current world system of fear, bloodlust, competition and exploitation's being the motive 'force' that drives human response. The Jurassic Park series made the same point.
The second point is that no system is inherently stable...
Natural laws intervene that prevent permanency. Society will not have time to achieve any one system before some crucial event disrupts things irreparably, and throws the system into chaotic change. Nature is quite adept at keeping us off-balance.
Question: I have been living my de facto for 7 years. If separate, can I get some support financially from him? I have a daughtor of 13 years old from previous marriage. We have no kids together. he is a medical doctor and I have been doing all the household by myself for the past 7 years, including packing up his medical bags. All the properties are in his name.
Answer: Try to hire a lawyer on a contingency fee bases and hope for the best, but most states do not have any sort of "palimony" clause and you will likely not prevail. Even in the few states that honor "common law" marriages you have to prove you have lived as man and wife for at least 10 years.
The man that father the 13 year old is legally required to support her financially, not any surrogate father unless he legally adopts her.

Question: MS & ARK,two separate Child Support cases in two separate states regarding two separate children.......? I have a 5 year old daughter who lives in arkansas, with her mother. I have a child support case in arkansas where i'm court ordered to pay them $ 65.00 a week.
I have a 2 year old son who lives in mississippi with his mother whom, I pay $75.00/week, through DHS.
the mother of my first child is upset that the mother of my second child gets more child support than her, and now wants to take me to court and get the first order raised/modified to be raised or however they do it. i only make gross 20,800.00/year and pay on both religiously.
will arkansas child support recognize the fact that i have a duty to pay for another childs support order?
When i spoke to my case worker in mississippi on child#2's order she said that neither order should affect one another, yet when she calculated how much i was to be obligated for mississippi child #2 she subtracted the amount i pay for child number 1 in arkansas before giving me my obligation amount which is actually 260/month but i and the mother of my child in mississippi already written & verbal agreed on $300.00/month for my second child.
so my question is, when arkansas child#1 support order is in process of being modified will they deduct the expense that i pay for child #2? i have all the paper work to prove i pay and am not behind on either order. i love my kids and just want to do the right thing, with out making any one else angry. i don't want to waste my time by sending paper work on child#2 to prove i have other obligations, to arkansas. it shouldn't matter who was born first or who should get more, i love my children equally.
Its is a verbal and written agreement between me and childs #2 mother that i pay $300.00 because he has a disorder. mississippi child support enforcement accepted the agreement and is what the amount is set at monthly and is what i'am obligated to pay. yes the mothers know each other they don't get along but have mutual friends that like to gossip. i would never disclose the info to either one b/c i know it will start mess.
so i just want to know if arkansas will raise my support order b/c mississippi order is higher. or will they gross-taxes-insurance-other support obligations= arkansas new amount?
can she raise it b/c of the other obligation? or will her attempt to raise it end up making it lower?
Answer: How does the mother of your first child know how much you are paying for the second child or vice versa? Do they know each other? You should not discuss how much you pay to the moms.
Anyway, when you get child support papers, they ask how much you are paying for other children. So you do get credit but they will not give you credit for verbal agreements. Like it or not, you have to fill out the paperwork proving you are paying the other obligation. That is, if you want to get credit. If you have children living in your home (blood children of yours), you will get credit for them (after you prove their existence), as well.
Why are you verbally agreeing to pay one more than the other?
Edited to add: OK. So you have a special needs child. The mother in Arkansas can try to modify the court order for an increase. The thing is this, they will do a calculation based on the numbers, income, other children, etc and they are just numbers. You can always go to court and plead your case to he judge because there are many circumstances that cannot be calculated into child support such as the cost of seeing/keeping in contact with your kids, especially if you live out of state. (If you can afford an attorney, they would be very helpful if there are other circumstances that you want taken into consideration.)
Custody and visitation is huge when it comes to child support calculation.
Question: my husband has 2 pay 20% of his pay for child support if we file married separate he pays Alto less. what 2 do? what will the tax impact be?
Answer: "His pay" is not affected by how you chose to file your tax returns.
His children deserve to be supported and 20% is probably less than they would cost him if they lived with him.

Question: How do I gain separation off the dribble? When I play basketball all I have to do is to penetrate right by my defender without any moves. But since I'm playing older players and better defenders, I have to make dribble moves to get past my defender. But when I make a move, I don't gain that separation off the dribble. How do the great ball handlers (Brandon Jennings Chris Paul etc.) gain so much separation off of one move? And how do i gain the separation off the dribble as well?
Answer: you have to sprint right away and take as big a first step as you can it helps a lot
hope tht helps
Question: What is the differentance between separation and a divorce? Say like I put my daughters father out, because of a disagreement or argument for him to change, would that be considered as a separation or could that be break-up because we are not legally married? If we were separated could that give him the right to see other people. Because I never said that we were broken up, I just thought he needed to get out so he can get his life together, than he can come back. Please tell me the difference.
Answer: Divorce implies ending a relationship with a person that you had been legally married to.
In your case it's separation since you've never been married. With regard to can he see other people, that depends on how he interprets the separation. Some people look at it as getting a break and some people look at it as moving on to a new chapter in a relationship. You may want to talk to him to find out what he says about the separation.
This is when marriage is helpful, because he would not been able to see other people until he is divorced with you. Without legal marriage you have no right to demand for him not to see other women.
Question: Why does organized religion cause separation while spiritual love causes union? Doesnt ego seek separation and true love understands and seeks celebration of all there is?
Thanks so much for sharing. Peace, Love and Blessings!
Answer: Organized religions teach "their way or no way", essentially dividing people into US vs. THEM. All religions do this, it's why they are destructive- bigotry is taught instead of tolerance.
Question: What is the connection of separation of powers (check and balances) to the watergate scandal? I am writing an essay about this. and i have to point out the significance to the watergate scandal and the separation of powers. so if you could give me some pointers, facts, or anything else that would be great. thank you.
Answer: As far as I know, not much. Watergate was a scandal involving individuals breaking into the watergate hotel and stealing important documents. I guess you could put a spin on it and say the resulting near impeachment of nixon had to do with the seperation of powers. You may also want to talk about how the executive branch interacts with other previous executive branches since Kennedy pardoned Nixon. That in itself was a sense of Kennedy (executive) interfering with the investigations and impeachment of the judicial and legislative branches. That's as far as I can see it going. Hope that helped. Good luck.

Question: How much energy is required to change the separation between the centers of 2 basketballs? Two 0.59 kg basketballs, each with a radius of 12 cm, are just touching.
a) How much energy is required to change the separation between the centers of the basketballs to 1.4 m? (Ignore any other gravitational interactions.)
b) How much energy is required to change the separation between the centers of the basketballs to 10 m? (Ignore any other gravitational interactions.)
Thank you in advance. This stuff really confuses me.
Answer: Enjoying Jerome Long's TT 11:00 Phys 2205 as much as I am, It seems.
Use the formula U= -G(m1m2)/r.
You're looking for the CHANGE in potential energy, which is the same thing as work. Values to sub in:
G = 6.67*10^-11
both masses = .59
r first =.24 (because r is the separation between the centers, and each ball has a radius of .12 m).
r1 final = 1.4
r2 final = 10.
Run the equation once to find the initial U (potential energy) and save that value. Then run it twice more, once with each of the new radii. Subtract final-initial for a, and final-initial for b.
Question: How to protect from Ethanol Phase Separation in Bertram Fiberglass Gas Tanks with E-10 Gasoline? Hi, I have a 1985 Bertram 30 with a 220 Gallon Fiberglass Tank. As we approach the end of the season in the Northeast, we now have to start planning for Winterization. A standard procedure for Winterization over the years was to fill up your tanks with Gasoline before winter storage to cut down on water/condensation. That was before this Ethanol fiasco! Now if we have phase separation in the E-10 Gas, the Ethanol can eat away at the fiberglass resin in the tanks and also leave deposits in the Heads of the engine.
I have been treating the fuel with Startron for the past year.
What should I do this Winter? Should I fill up the tank with Startron treated fuel or should I leave 1/2 or even less than of tank of Startron treated fuel?
Answer: You have 2 choices really. You can fill it up and treat it or you should empty it entirely and run your engine out of gas also. If you leave it any other way you invite trouble. Ethanol will pull moisture out of the air and into the tank also giving you troubles. We have had ethanol for a few years in the northeast now so if you have not had trouble yet you should be fine leaving it full and treating it. Good luck.
Question: How do you get rid of separation anxiety in dogs? I have a year old border collie mix who has separation anxiety. She barks constantly and is destructive when we aren't home. We are getting complaints from the neighbors. We have used muzzles, vibrating collars, and pharamone treatments to get her to stop and she still isn't. We also have resorted to crating her. Any advice?
Answer: Crating the dog is a good start. It won't help cure the separation anxiety, but it will prevent the dog from continuing to destory your belongings. A few of the following suggestions can be used alone or in conjunction with each other:
1) Place the dog in the crate while you are at home for short periods of time. Let the dog see that you are still there. However, do not pay any attention to the dog. If the dog barks, ignore it. Don't talk or yell at the dog. After the dog has stopped barking, walk over and without saying a word or showing any affection, let the dog out of the crate. The point of this exercise is to untrain the dog from knowing "I will bark and they will come".
2) If ignoring the dog in the crate doesn't help, and the dog continues to bark and bark and bark, another alternative is to use a loud noise to deter the dog from barking. This was the tactic that ended up working for me. Place the dog in the crate while you are at home. Everytime the dog begins to bark, you want to use something to make a loud noise. (The noise should NOT be you yelling or speaking with the dog - the dog wins when it hears your voice). I recommend putting some pennies in an empty soda can and placing a piece of tape on the opening. When shaken, the noise is obnoxiously loud, and should stop your dog from barking. With the dog in the crate, every time the dog begins to bark, without saying a word, shake the can of pennies loudly for ten or so seconds. If the dog starts barking again, repeat. Repeat, repeat, repeat. This should help with the barking problem.
3) Your routine. Dogs are extremely perceptive and will pick up on your pre-departure routine. For example, my dogs see me pick up a pair of shoes and they know that I (and they hope them) will be leaving the house. Chances are your dog's anxiety kicks in long before you walk out the door. Placing the dog in the crate before you perform the act (e.g., putting on shoes, grabbing keys, etc.) that triggers the "my owner is leaving me" anxiety should help. One thing that might help distract the dog as you leave in the morning is a Kong toy. The Kong toys are hollow and can be filled with treats that the dog will have to work to remove from the toy. This should help distract your dog while you slip out of the house in the morning.
4) Homecoming - When you get home, the first thing you should do is NOT let the the dog out. Go get a glass of water, read through the mail. Let the dog see you. If the dog is barking, DO NOT let the dog out of the crate. Wait until the dog calms down or use the penny-can to stop the dog from barking. Then let the dog out. Do not fawn over the dog, do not lavish attention on the dog, do not touch the dog. The goal here is to show the dog that your homecoming is not an event. It is a daily occurrence, nothing special. Lavishing attention on the dog when you get home will only add to the dog's anticipation and anxiety when you are away. After fifteen or so minutes of being home, give the dog the attention you want. The key is to disassociate your attention and your homecoming from each other.
4) Exercise. Border collies are working dogs. They are very intelligent and need to put that intelligence to use. They need a lot of exercise and mental stimulation. A lot of the times destructive behavior is the result of not only separation anxiety, but also boredom and pent up energy.
The muzzles, collars and medication will not cure separation anxiety, they are short term solutions. Stop the muzzle, stop the collars or the medication and the dog will pick up right where he/she left off.
Question: What is a 1 Hour Fire Separation Wall in a room containing a water heater? I am in Los Angeles California and the City of Los Angeles requires that we put a Fire Separation Wall in the room that we have a 100 gallon water heater for a 15 unit apartment. I dont know what that is. I am assuming its a type of drywall or a paint or something that goes on the drywall that will stop a fire if any from burning fast. If anyone knows what it is and where I can get it. Thanks.
Answer: Wood 2x4 studs with 5/8" drywall on both sides. The screw or nail heads and seams in the drywall must have at least one coat of drywall tape and compound. The door to this closet must be a solid core wood door, or a 20 minute hollow metal door.
Question: What's the difference between the separation of powers and the division of power? I have in my notes that separation of powers is the branches: Executive, Legislative, and Judicial, but I don't know what the division of power is. It's for a question response. Can someone help?
Answer: Division of Powers is the same as Separation of Powers. Do you mean 'Balance of Power'?
If so, Balance of Power is the degree to which power is centralized or delegated to smaller, regional levels of government. For example, federalism in the US. Power is shared between the regional State governments and the centralized National government.
