Silent Birth
A silent birth is the experience of giving birth without expressing pain. The silent birth guidelines also include the exclusion of music or any type of talking during the birth.
Question: Are there any lasting effects from a child being basically silent for 4 years from birth? Silent at birth, silent as a baby, other than occasionally crying, silent as a toddler?
He's started speaking after 4 though.
Answer: forget the effects. look into the cause, that could be a problem that won't go away on it's own ex. hearing loss, emotional trauma, autism
Question: Possible causes for a child being basically silent for 4 years from birth? Silent at birth, silent as a baby, other than occasionally crying, silent as a toddler? He's talking now though.
No, regular speech, before that, mute.
Answer: One word talking? Yes, no, ect ... do they grunt to get what they want? Did you give them what they wanted before they demanded it? There are a lot of factors, but if he/she is talking fine now,... no worries. Check into autism. A possible cause that needs to be addressed ASAP
Question: Since Katie had the babushka, did she have a silent birth? Correct me if I'm wrong- but do not Scientologists believe in giving birth and not uttering a sound?
Answer: From what I understand she would be aloud to make small noises. The goal is to try and keep the talking down to a minimum if at all. It is so the child does not get scared and possibly scarred for life. I hope everything went well however it went.
Question: What does everyone think of the silent birth that the Scientologists follow? http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2006140204,00.html
I think they are out of their minds.
Answer: This is absurd!! I had my last baby with no pain killers...you better believe there was screaming!! No medical tests for 7 days?? What are they thinking? And no speaking to the newborn for 7 days? Ok I am a mother of 2, there is no way someone would have told me not to speak to my baby for 7 days!! This should be outlawed. Especially the part about no medical tests. What if there is something wrong with the baby that needs to be taken care of right away? Hopefully the baby is born healthy. Scientology is the creation of MAN. So it is just another way for men to control women. Exactly what Tom is doing to Katie. FREE KATIE!
Question: how do you feel about the silent birth method in scientology? do you agree with it or not?
Answer: Scientology was created by a scifi novelist. What does a MALE writer know about childbirth? Did he ever squeeze out somthing 1/8th his size?
Question: Do you think Katie Holmes will choose a Silent birth? According to the tenets of Scientology, known as "Dianetics," words - even loving ones - spoken during birth and other painful times are recorded by the "reactive mind," or subconscious. Those memories, adherents feel, can eventually trigger problems for mother and child.
Answer: I she can pull that off, more power to her! Personally, after all the comments he has made in the last 8 or 9 months, I hope she grabs Tom right by the b*lls & educates him on childbirth and postpartum depression!
Question: How can you possibly have a silent birth? i never plan on it but i was curious. do they have any strategies on keeping the mother quiet? and how do you do that with no medication? also have you ever had one? what was it like? and in scientology what if the mother does scream?
i'm mostly talking about in scientology. they can't use medication
Answer: Ball-gag.
Question: has anyone experienced a silent birth? the kind urged by scientologists? And if so, was the baby crying afterwards? and please nothing about Tom Cruise, i'm not a tabloid person lol.
if you yourself gave a silent birth, do you feel as though you suppressed a traumatic experience? or did you feel stronger for having not given in to the pain?
i know that the baby is not deciding to try for a silent birth, lol, think i got that. the aim in the question to see what if any noticeable effect it had on the child.
Answer: I have not and don't want to. But I have heard it's not all silent. I believe its really up to the baby to cry or not. I can't imagine anyone doing anything to make the baby quiet. But very interesting question.
Question: Question about Silent Birth? So this isn't meant to be offensive, it was just something my friends and I were wondering about.
What happens if a woman screams during a silent birth in Scientology?
Answer: One of the fundamentals of Scientology is that when a person undergoes a painful experience a permanent record is made in his mind. Like an unconscious memory. That memory can be replayed and affect you in the future.
For example, if a child is attacked by a dog, in the future when they see a dog they can experience an uncontrollable fear - the same fear they originally felt. They can even feel pain where they were bitten.
Take anyone who has broken a bone or something and you will find that in the future, many of them are getting pains and circulation shut-downs (arthritis) where they had their injury. We call this re-stimulation of those earlier incidents.
Back in the early days of Scientology, it was pointed out that you should be quiet around anyone who is injured. That would tend to reduce the confusion being recorded by the person. And in the future, your voice wouldn't serve to re-stimulate that injury.
Scientologist mothers don't particularly want their voice to be present in any of their children's painful incidents because they believe that the sound of their voice could restimulate these painful incidents and affect their children adversely. If you watch carefully you can see adverse reactions of some children and teenagers to their mother's voice which tend to support this idea.
But having said all that, later discoveries in Scientology tended to discount the importance of this effect somewhat even though we definitely do try and keep the environment of a person in pain as quiet and calm as possible.
Meanwhile, there is no rule about screaming during childbirth and I can assure you, many do.
The answer to your question about what happens if a woman screams during a silent birth in Scientology is pretty simple. The husband goes all white and shaky and prays for a speedy delivery.
Question: What is silent birth? does silent birth have anything to do with religion? It is supposed to shield newborns from harmful words during the birth process. Apparently tom and katie had one and jennifer lopez might as well?
http://www.celebmaternity.com/2008/01/jennifer-lopez-silent-birth.html
what are your thoughts about going through with a silent birth?
Answer: Well silent birth is when a baby is born in a silent environment.
Silent birth, sometimes known as quiet birth, is a birthing procedure advised by L. Ron Hubbard and advocated by Scientologists in which "everyone attending the birth should refrain from spoken words as much as possible" and where "... chatty doctors and nurses, shouts to 'PUSH, PUSH' and loud or laughing remarks to 'encourage' are avoided".
According to Scientology doctrine, this is because "any words spoken are recorded in the reactive mind and can have an aberrative effect on the mother and the child."
The "silent birth" became a source of media interest when it was known that outspoken Scientologist actor Tom Cruise and recently-converted, new wife Katie Holmes were expecting a child. Reports that the couple would follow the practice of silent birth were denied, until photos were taken of large placards being delivered to the couple's mansion bearing instructions for the silent birth, such as "Be silent and make all physical movements slow and understandable."
P.S. maybe I would do it for the sake of my baby or maybe pain would overcome my composure
it may be harmful to the mind when mothers use curse words while having the baby but mostly its just screaming and I really don't want to be going through that much pain and not help myself to calm down by not screaming silent birth is just not for some people NO DISRESPECT!
Question: Can someone explain the Scientology "silent birth" method? What purpose does it serve?
Answer: This whole concept is fully explained in Chapter 10 of the book "Dianetics The Modern Science of Mental Health" by L.Ron Hubbard.
The Chapter is called "Preventative Dianetics"
During moments of intense pain and discomfort, which having had 2 kids myself I can personally attest that giving birth is definitely one of those moments for both mother and baby, spoken words and agitated
actions and emotions are recorded by the Reactive Mind (also explained in the book mentioned). These recordings can be triggered later in life and the words spoken , recorded but not analysed , will have command value over the individual, causing unwanted pains sensations, emotions , reactions etc.
Silence around an injured or unconscious person is also recommended.
The intention is to ensure a happy and healthy mother and baby, and prevent trauma during birth, by keeping it as calm and quiet as possible.
That's why home birth is better for mother and baby because the environment can be controlled in this way. Most midwives are in agreement with this necessity during birth.
Hospitals and Dr's (who are usually male) are not. In fact giving birth in hospitals is a very recent trend (last 80 years maybe) .
Given the choice most mothers would rather not give birth in a place full of sick and injured people.
Question: in scientology what is a silent birth? I guessing the mother is not allowed to scream or anything during birth but why would anyone do this and what purpose does it serve?
Answer: probably came from when L.Ron Hubbard was performing abortion on his wife but the child survived
Question: What is a silent Birth? And is it possible for a Woman in Labor to not make a sound?Seems like there is a lot of Talk about this due to the Cruise/Holmes Fiasco.
Answer: Its when a woman gives birth in the forest and there is no one to hear, (or in a restroom at a prom in New Jersey)
Question: Celebrities back 'Tomkat' over silent birth plan? Isn't that comforting? To know that "celebrities" seem to know what's good for you. Yes, maybe Tom can ask NASA not to fly the Shuttle into space because it makes too much noise during the birth of his child. God, i can't believe the garbage the media feeds us, and we just lap it up? Better buy lot's of lottery tickets since that seems like a MUCH better return(foo-foo a savings account or 401(K)). Are we brain-dead yet?
Answer: Tom Cruise has obviously lost his mind. The more attention the media gives him the worse he gets. Who CARES how they have their baby???????
Question: what is 'silent birth' ? why? is it religious thing?
Answer: Silent birth simply means a birth experience that is as quiet and calm as possible—the best thing for the well-being of the mother and baby.
It is a widely-accepted fact that bringing a baby into the world in a calm and gentle environment is vital to the happiness and health of the child.
which means no music and no talking during the birth, which also means no screaming during the pains of labor.
newborns cannot be poked or prodded for medical tests or even spoken to for the first seven days of their lives, believing that babies go through so much pain during the birth, they shouldn't have to experience any further discomfort or sensory experience that could return later in life to haunt them.
Question: Why is the SCOTUS silent on obama's birth certificate? ...are they waiting for the National Guard to be called out before announcing obama is a fraud?
Answer: Actually, the SCOTUS supposedly was supposed to decide on Fri whether or not to hear the case. It is the controlled media that has been silent about it.
I don't think it would do anyone any good either way (President Biden?), but I am curious. I've been google news searching it for 2 days and I can't find one word on the result of friday's decision.
It's not every day a President-elect has his eligibility questioned in a SCOTUS case. But I guess it's just not "newsworthy" huh? LoL
EDIT: I have just found one article stating that the decision could come as late as monday.
Question: does anyone agree with a silent birth like katie holmes did?
that annoyed me but what really annoyed me was when i read the baby was to be taken of her for 48 hours ans she had to remain silent for 7 days after the birth and she cant coe over her baby and her christian parents are to have minimal contact with her and the baby really pi$$ed me off
Answer: katie turned out to be naive and easily impressionable..thats why it might last cause she gives into toms bullsh*t and he needs someone that is willing todo that, so he can conquer over someone and turn them around....the whole relationship is just weird and definitely not admirable i actually pity them.
Question: What made L. Ron. Hubbard (the creator of Scientology) think that "silent birth" was a good idea? http://www.slate.com/id/2128041
This stuff is CREEPY... read it.
Why would a man, particularly a science fiction author, think that he knows what's best for a woman and child during childbirth?
Sheeple rancher: Yeah, isn't that weird? As I recall, Hubbard said something like... "Why get paid a penny a word to write? If you want to really get rich, create your own religion..."
I'm paraphrasing, but that explains a lot of the eccentricities of Scientology.
Answer: I've always found it amusing that it's men who like to go off about what a woman should and shouldn't do during pregnancy and birth. We're the ones having the babies, not them! I say that until a guy can pop out a couple of puppies, they should all be under a judicial gag order. But that's just me. : )
Question: What is a SILENT BIRTH? Tom Cruise had his wife to do it.?
Answer: SILENT BIRTH is when NOBODY in the concieving room is allowed to make a sound, not even the mother giving birth. I think Tom Cruise made his wife do it because it is part of Scientology, nobody should make a sound(especially the mother) so that the baby won't think that it is their fault for being born due to all the pain/noise. SO basically, the mother cannot scream, express, or make a noise during the birth of her child. Crazy eh?
Question: Has anyone ever done silent birth and what was it like?
For women only
Answer: I am a Scientologist and gave birth to 2 kids, one in 1979 in London UK and the second in 1984 in Toronto.
Both times I would have preferred to have a home birth where I could better control the environment for myself and my babies, and keep
unnessary noise and loud voices, or talking to a minimum, but my choices were very limited back then.
So I had to make do with a hospital environment both times, and deal with any negative effects after the births.
This whole subject of giving birth and the best methods are all in the realm of "Preventative". You want to prevent trauma that will effect this new life and the natural bonding between mother and baby.
This "silent" aspect of the Scientology method is explained fully in Chapter 10 of the book "Dianetics The Modern Science of Mental Health" called " Preventative Dianetics"
Not so long ago most babies were delivered at home and mid wives were the best authority on the subject. This should still be the case in mmy opinion. Birth was never the ream of medical science particularly, until recently.
In many cultures and societies this has been preserved.
In fact in some cultures mothers just go off on their own somewhere quiet to give birth without any interference or complications.
