Question: What is the practical meaning of the Vertical Intercept in this word problem? The population of California between the years 1990 and 2009 can be described by the function P(t) = 150t + 3661, where *t* is the number of years since 1990 and P(t) is the population, in thousands. So, the slope is 150t and the Vertical Intercept is 3661. What is the practical meaning of the Vertical Intercept in this situation?

Answer: My guess, is that it started at 3661 people in the population? Because If the y-intercept is 3661.. Thats the first dot in teh 0... and the graph...goes up or down from there....
