Question: What is the difference between sodomy and aggravated sodomy? I was perusing my state's convicted sex offender list, and I want to know the difference between the two. Is aggravated criminal sodomy different from the two aforementioned? I know this also goes for rape (rape and aggravated rape).

Answer: when a charge is aggravated, it is worse. IE if i punch you i will be charged with assault. but if i stab you, i might get aggravated assault or assault with a deadly weapon. and this usually ups it to a felony.

Answer: Sodomy is anal sex, either with a member of the same sex or the opposite sex, and whether it is done with genitals or any other device. However, in the 2003 case of Lawrence v. Texas, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that state laws prohibiting sodomy in the privacy of one's home violates the Fourteenth Amendment's right to substantive due process (often called the "right to privacy"). Thus, an arrest for this now-illegal crime should be overturned as unconstitutional.

Question: What is the difference between "sodomy" and "buggery" ? The terms are used interchangably in law. The 'Offences Against The Person Act' 1861 mentioned thw words "sodomy" and "buggery" in the text for the same offence, but what is the specific difference?

Question: should Celibacy be abolished to stop sodomy and child abuse in the church? with the plaque of sodomy and child rape in the Christians church, should Celibacy of the priests be abolished? which is a bigger sin, to have the priests marry women or to have them rather sodomize little kids? some ppl thing letting them marry is a heredity and they are falling to a greater sin. Muslims don't have these problem because their men are allowed to marry upto four wives.

Question: Do you think decriminilazing sodomy was a moral or immoral step for America? As of 2003, 13 US states still had sodomy laws in the books. On June of the same year, the US Supreme Court decided to strike down same-sex sodomy laws and the government was no longer to interfere with what two consenting adults chose to do in their bedroom.

Answer: It is definitely not a moral step, although I am opposed to putting homosexuals in jail or the like in this nation. Homosexuality is a sin condemned by God, yet we live in a nation where the government is and should be restricted from interference in people lives where people are not causing others direct harm. While a persons sexual activity is not my business in this regard, it is still God's business, and therefore while the government should not restrict it.....it should also not approve of it. So while I am not for criminalizing such behavior I oppose government recognition of homosexual marriage. (I also do not believe that adultery, prostitution, or the use of marijuana should be of a criminal nature....but that is not to say they are good things).

Question: Why do Christians disregard the kashrut laws but still maintain that the law needs to followed for sodomy? Both are called an abomination in the old testament but the majority of Christians cite Pauline Dispensation for not following Kashrut laws and not circumcising but say the law still follows for sodomy. Now either the law needs to be followed by Christians or it does not, why the double standard?

Answer: sodom was guilty of pride and inhospitality - like many christians always show plus many are only cherry-picking hypocrites

Question: Why do many countries think its a good idea to lock up people for commiting "Sodomy"? Like it was illegal to commit Sodomy in America by federal law until 2003, and you can still get life in prison in many countries. Don't they realize that they are taking a sh*t load of the tax payers money to keep people locked in prison just because of how they had sex? Why is it important to criminalize "sodomy" anyways? There are plenty of WORSE things the judicial systems should focus on like murderers and rapists.

Answer: The "sodomy" laws that existed in this country were state laws, except for the law in D.C., and those laws began getting repealed in 1961, and continued getting repealed by various states for the following 40 years, until the Supreme Court's 2003 decision, which struck down the remaining state laws against it. In one sense, there is still one law against "sodomy" in the country, although it is not treated as a "crime," and the punishment is not a fine or a jail term. The punishment for committing "sodomy" in the military is getting booted out of the military. Why WAS it important to criminalize it? Because society deemed that it was immoral, that's why. That's still the reason why incest is criminal -- because it is deemed immoral. That's all, and that's all it takes. When society deems something immoral, it legislates against it, based on society's judgment about whether or not they think that they can effectively enforce the ban. One of the reasons why the laws were repealed before was because of an increasing awareness of the difficulty in enforcing the law. That was one reason, just one. And we would do well to remember the fact that the UK imprisoned Oscar Wilde for two years as of 109 years ago for the crime of "sodomy."

Question: Why was there such a big push by religious groups to ban gay marriage in state constitutions, but not sodomy? A few decades ago when sodomy was being legalized state-by-state, to my knowledge, not a single state amended its constitution to ban sodomy. when the same thing began to happen with gay marriage.....30 of the 50 states amended their constitutions to ban gay marriage. Why did they do that with marriage but not sodomy?

Answer: For a number of reasons . Many of those homophobes have engaged with their heterosexual partners in sodomy.Also this law is anachronistic, and not really enforced, except for that man who was recently sent to jail for having sex with a horse. I would really like to see these homophobes try to ensenshrinedomy into a State Constitution. This would really show what idiots they are, and they would be laughed out of town

I know that both say SODOMY is a sin, but do they say that homosexuality in general is a sin (Its possible to be gay or lesbian without engaging in sodomy)? Does it specifically say having a relationship with someone of the same sex is wrong? Where does it say homosexuality in general is wrong?

Answer: The only prohibition in the Hebrew Bible is that a "man shall not lie with a woman...." Nothing there about women. In that passage, it is called an abomination. Eating forbidden foods is also called an abomination. Is anyone condemned for eating pork, shrimp, clams, etc.? Prostitution in the Hebrew Bible is referred to as(k’deishah). The word occurs frequently in the Tanach, and is connected to kadosh (holy), suggesting to some that the k’deishah was a cult functionary at a pagan shrine who participated in fertility rites. Question: How can the tea party be taken seriously when they advocate alcohol prohibition, sodomy laws, & secession? In Nevada, Sharron Angle wants a return to alcohol prohibition. The Montana GOP still wants to bring back "sodomy" laws. In Texas, Rick Perry wants the state to secede from the Union again. In Louisiana, Bobby Jindal believes rape victims should be forced to carry their attacker's babies. How can the tea party be taken seriously when they advocate such absurd, nonsensical ideas that are a century out of date?

Question: What references are there to Sodomy, Rape, and Prostitution in Assassins creed 2? I read in the ESRB article that that had a part in the story. How serious are those instances, how often, and how many, and do they depict actual scenes of the sodomy, rape and prostitutuion. I am looking for answers of people who have played the whole game.

Answer: There isn't much reference to sodomy, and the only instance of rape I could ever think of is it may be possible that Ezio's mother was raped when the Auditore men were taken (that may be why she is in shock, I don't know though.) Prostitution however is in large supply. You can hire them (the courtesans) just not use them.

Answer: Supreme Court invalidated all such laws, see the case known as Lawrence v. Texas. Perhaps before you present legal arguments, you might actually study how to make a non-specious one. Question: Why don't Christians obey more of the Old Testament, and not just the parts on sodomy? I'm confused. Now, all the good Christians I know are good at avoiding sodomy and condeming those who practice it because of Old Testament prohibitions, but what confuses me is how these same people don't take seriously the teachings on wearing clothing of different fabrics and eating shellfish? I thought that Jesus did not come to destroy the old covenant, but to affirm it. Why so selective?

Answer: It's even more ridiculous. These same people only condemn same-sex sodomy--they have no problem with opposite-sex sodomy. It's called Cafeteria Christianity. They pick and choose what they want and ignore the rest. Oh and "Romans 1" has nothing to do with being gay. It speaks of the results of idolatry. Since I or all the gay people I know don't worship idols, it has no bearing on our lives. Those using "Romans 1" to revile gay people need to read "Romans 2" immediately.

Answer: The 10th Amendment guarantees the right to sodomize a willing victim while at the same time guarantying the States' right to legislate against it. "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people." I don't have to consider this issue any further, I do not live in Texas. I live in California where most of the sodomizing is done by the state government.

Answer: I believe that the government makes all these silly laws just because they are guilty about the things that they are doing ... behind closed doors as well as the open ones ....

Question: Should homosexuality be illegal and offenders registered under sodomy laws? Since one major punishment of prison is the lost of heterosexual companionship, wouldn't homosexuality/lesbianism remove that deterrent to committing crimes? Many prison inmates choose homosexuality/lesbianism relationship with in prison as an alternative life style when considering to commit crimes. Therefore, it would be in the public interest at large to enforce sodomy laws rendering homosexuality illegal.

Answer: One of many great reasons to reinstate anti-sodomy laws.

Question: How does the judicial system of the United States classify the "Degree" of Sodomy? I saw some news articles saying that so-and-so was convicted of "First-Degree Sodomy" or "Second-Degree Sodomy" and was wondering how it is classified as such?

Answer: It's based on the amount of lubrication used and the awareness of the receiving party. Third-Degree Sodomy: With lubricant and a consenting partner. Second-Degree Sodomy: Without lubricant but with a consenting partner. First-Degree Sodomy: No lube and a partner who has recently experienced the wonder that is chloroform.

Answer: The supreme court ruled (Lawrence v. Texas) against the state of Texas and declared any and all state laws against sodomy unconstitutional. Thus, there is no state that can make sodomy illegal. Before the supreme court's ruling in 2003, there were 13 states that still had anti-sodomy laws. I disagree 100% with the supreme court taking away the rights of the states, and their decision was based on the court created (unconstitutional and fictitious) "right of privacy". I am not necessarily arguing for anti-sodomy laws, simply that I believe that the court overstepped the authority given it by the constitution in this decision. Our government was set up to allow states to put laws such as this on their books through the voice of the people. If those laws were offensive to some, they could lobby the people to vote the law down, or move to a more tolerant state. The supreme court was not created to trample the rights of the state.

Question: Why are so many people against sodomy between two men? Why is it that so many people are disgusted with two men who practice sodomy, but don't say anything about heterosexual couples who practice anal sex? I have the same question about fisting-why is it that much more appalling when homosexuals do it? I'm watching a documentary about Uganda, and this question just came to mind.

Question: My wife wants sodomy, but I believe it is a sin, how can I dissuade her? Please be respectful because this is a serious question.
