The legal process that is used in some states to establish inheritance rights for a child when the prospective adoptive parent had entered into an oral contract expressing his or her desire and intention to adopt the child, pursuant to which the child was placed in the physical custody of the parent, but was not formally adopted before the parent died.
Question: Why must the legacy of the USA in Iraq be one of thievery? Will we ever learn? ...I want Bush's God & everyone else's God to release our troops from Iraq. We cannot continue the massacre of our troops....
Oil Law is Tool To Take Iraqi Oil.
Following is written by Falah Abood Umar, General secretary of the Iraq Federation of Oil 5/31/07
President Bush and his administration are putting great pressure on the Iraqi government to approve a new hydrocarbon (oil) law. The U.S. Congress has enacted legislation that includes adoption of the oil law as a benchmark of "progress" in Iraq and condition of continued reconstruction funding. The oil law is being promoted as a means to assure the equitable distribution to all parts of Iraq of the revenues earned from the sale of our oil.
Everyone knows that this oil law does not serve the Iraqi people, and that it serves Bush, his supporters and foreign oil companies at the expense of the Iraqi people who have been wronged and deprived of their right to their oil despite enduring great suffering and sacrifice.
It has been clear that the Bush administration came to Iraq for the oil. He has from the very start tried to privatize our work and transfer control of our nation's most important natural resource, which belongs to all the people of Iraq, to foreign corporations. Our union has resisted repeated efforts to bring foreign contractors into our industry to do work that we have done for decades. We built this industry. We kept it running through the Iran-Iraq War, through 12 years of international sanctions, and through invasion and occupation. We were successful in defeating each attempt to privatize our work and to bring foreign workers into the oil sector. What President Bush was not able to do directly, he now seeks to accomplish with this oil law.
The law that President Bush wants to impose on our country was not drafted in Iraq as a result of careful, transparent and inclusive participation of members of our Parliament, our union,

other representatives of civil society organizations in Iraq. Most members of Parliament never saw the law until it was leaked to the public a few months ago. It was imported to our country by the United States and the International Monetary Fund. The IMF has told our government that it must pass the law as a condition of debt relief and future financial aid. Is that how laws in America are made?
Your nation's mothers and fathers have lost more than 3,400 precious lives of their sons and daughters in Iraq. Our nation's mothers and fathers have lost many hundreds of thousands of our children's precious lives. Millions of Iraqis have been forced from their homes; many had to flee the country. Unemployment in many areas is 70 percent. Our hospitals have been destroyed and many doctors have fled. Our schools, power plants, sanitation system and many homes have been destroyed.
.
I love these people who automatically assume that those who refuse to think as they do are LIBERALS! You really are silly. I'm a young female, younger than Bush daughters (and a darn sight smarter!). I think for MYSELF. I do not need a label as most of you do! "Lberal, democrat, democrat, liberal" You sound like
CHILDREN for God's sake. I find something unusual here. Older, old people and middle age people get very angry if people do NOT believe or think as they do. That's sad. But, I and others like me may well be weaker, but we are also wiser.
I hope the Iraqis get to keep a good portion of their oil. We lose troops everyday. We are not in the days of the Revolutionary War or any other subsequent war. We are occupiers. My greatest wish is for the Iraqis to rule themselves WITHOUT the U.S.
Our legacy is already etched in stone.
We
are thieves.
Answer: The USA legacy doesn't have to be that way but apparently the Bush administration doesn't care.
It has been reported that 300,000 gallons of oil per day is turning up missing in Iraq. Some have tried to blame it on insurgents and or terrorist, but what are they going to do with out a refinery an someone would notice all the tankers they would need to haul it away. My guess is that it is being moved out of the country on one of Bush's daddy's floating tankers in the dark of night.
Question: My husband wants to adopt my 3 year old son.? I contacted my sons bio father (as the attorney suggested) and he said that he would agree if that meant that he no longer had to pay child support. Well a few months later he changed his mind and decided that he would contest it. My son has been around my husband since he was 1 and does NOT know his bio father.
Does anyone know about equitable adoptions and if they are recognized in Maryland?
One attorney said that if the father contest my husband will not be able to adopt my son.
PLEASE HELP!!!
I also need to add that he has NOT had any contact with my son. He doesn't call on holiday's or birthdays. He is already almost $3900.00 in arrears. But the state of MD said that they will get more agressive once he reaches $4000.00.
With an equitable adoption, no parental rights are terminated. I just need to know if anyone knows they recognize equitable adoptions in MD.
Also, I have often (in the past) asked my sons father NO BEGGED him to spend time with him. When we got divorced he wrote in his response that he didn't want custody of the minor child just visitation rights. My number has NOT changed in the past 3 years so there is NO reason why this man is not an active part in my sons life besides the fact of just not wanting to be. My son is his 2nd child and he doesn't or should I say did not spend time with that other child either. I don't think that my son will resent me for having him adopted by a man that treats him like his own. I just don't want my son carrying a mans name that means NOTHING and I really don't need his money.
Answer: The only way to adopt a child is to have the biological parents sign off all rights to the child. If one contests the adoption and will not sign off rights, there is nothing that you can do short of getting them charged and found guilty of being an unfit parent and having their rights taken from them.
As for not knowing his bio father, that is something that could be used for a case of abandonment, IF his father does not pay support in on a regular basis.
You'll have to think about why he might be contesting....could he WANT to be in the child's life? Or is it just to cause problems with you and your husband (I.E. jealousy)
At any rate, if your hubby is all he knows as Daddy, and calls him that, that is all that matters.
Anyone can be a father. It takes someone special to be a Daddy!
