Concurrent Planning
An innovative foster care case management tool that is employed by caseworkers and other child welfare staff members, where they pursue the primary goal of family reunification, while at the same time, they are also developing an alternative permanency plan for the child. This alternate plan will often include adoption as the major alternative to family reunification. If the family reunification efforts fail, then the alternate plan will already be in place and well on its way to completion. Concurrent planning is intended to reduce the total period of time a child will remain in foster care before being permanently placed with a family.
Question: is Bush planning a third concurrent war with Iran in addition to Afghanistan and iraq?
Answer: No. There are no plans at the moment. If Iran launches an attack on Israel, the US will act fast with an air attack that will make "strike and awe" look small. They don't have anything that can reach the US at this moment.
Question: conncurrent planning in foster Care? I just found out at my foster parent orientation that my county and its sister county will conduct poilot programs for use of Concurrent planning in this state. I understand the concept I think but what i want to know is how does it effect foster care in terms of reunification and when the state will try for tpr and all that ?
Answer: Concurrent planning is not supposed to have any effect on reunification or TPR. The state still has to go through the same process with the same burden of proof, and a judge still has to be willing to sign off on the termination of rights.
The point of concurrent planning is so that *if* the case progresses to the parents' rights being terminated, which is in no way guaranteed or even the majority, the child doesn't have to be yanked out of everything familiar an additional time and moved to yet another foster home for adoption, because they are already in a home willing to provide permanency *if* the parents aren't able to reclaim their children. (Bearing in mind the length of the TPR process, the child has probably been in care for YEARS by that point, sometimes with the same foster family, so it's a major uprooting to be moved even for adoption.)
Research has shown that children lose approximately six months of emotional development with every foster care move. Concurrent planning is designed to avoid those setbacks as much as possible-- because it's truly damaging to children to be shuffled off to another placement every time the adults' situations change, and it's not necessary if their first placement is already willing to become an adoptive resource if it eventually comes to that.
I suppose it's possible that for some unethical officials within the system, the existence of concurrent planning might influence their decisions at the individual level. On the systems level and according to legal guidelines, though, it's not supposed to affect things on the biological family's end at all. Anecdotally, the people I know who are foster-adoptive parents in concurrent planning situations are no more certain, and their cases move no more swiftly, than those where no adoptive plan is considered until the last possible second. It's certainly no guarantee of TPR, nor even of an efficient process.
Concurrent planning is for the child-- so the child isn't left in the lurch EITHER way. It's not about the foster parents' OR the biological parents' needs, it's about the child's needs and healthy development. The majority of parents whose children are in foster care (80% to 90% in most jurisdictions) will still get them back. Concurrent planning is designed to reduce the moves and instability that contribute to making being a foster child such a difficult experience.
Question: How do I calculate the number of concurrent users needed for a load test based on the named users for the app? I am planning to do a load test using Mercury load runner but need to know how many virtual users I will need to simulate the true number of concurrent connections required. I therefore need to calcualte the number of concurrent connections to the web server that are likely from a given user base. for example 100 concurrent users will simulate 1000 active users from a user base of 100000.
I am sure there must be a calculation used that includes think-times and takes account of abandoment etc.
Answer: you need to specify what type of web server you're running and what admin tools you use
Question: what means "Ability to plan and manage workload to deal with high volumes of process work concurrent" I need to answer an application form, and my English is not good, could u help to answer it, talking about the secretary's abilities ?
Answer: I would interpret it to mean that one must have the ablity to prioritize projects, and to have the ability to multitask because there is a ton of work to be done.
Question: concurrent enrollment and university help? Im currently in concurrent enrollment in my high school. Im a senior now and plan to attend a university this fall. My concurrent enrollment classes are taught by professors in a community college. Also, I will have 8 college credited hours by the end of the school year. So my two questions are: Are these credits used in the university? and will I be a "Transferring student" even though im currently in high school?
Answer: No you should register as a new student since that's what you'll be. Most schools should allow you to transfer the credits, but some don't so as you're applying to colleges, check to see that they do in fact accept credtis from these types of programs.
Question: I don't know what courses to take over the next two years of high school to benefit me in University? I'm currently in grade 10 but I'm worrying what courses to take in grade 11 and 12. I want to be a JK-3 teacher and I want to go to Queen's on an arts major. I was planning on taking a concurrent education course as well. What i want to know is what courses would be wise for me to take to help prepare me for teaching these grades.
Answer: This is why High Schools have guidance counselors. It would be far more beneficial to you to talk to your high school counselor, than a bunch of Y!Answerers, who may or may not give you reasonable advice.
Question: concurrent education? i'm currently a junior in High school and i want to take a start at college; by enrolling for concurrent educatiuon.I plan on setting up a meeting with my guidance counselor Monday.
I want to be a dental hygienist, so what courses should i apply for?
Answer: Look at the dental hygiene curriculum and its prerequisites.
Question: have a question about transfering credits? I am a high school senior and i am planning on taking classes at a community college near me with concurrent enrollment. I am planning on taking calculus in the spring term. The question is that if i plan on going to a 4 year university straight after high school will i be able to transfer those credits to the university or will i have to take that class all over again. Thanks......................
Answer: You can typically transfer calculus from a community college. A lot of students do this.
Question: Are "basic skills" courses the same as general education? I was planning on applying for concurrent enrollment at my local college since I am still in high school. Unfortunately, they have "basic skills" (as well as a few other class types) listed as one of the courses they do not offer to concurrent enrollment students. Are these the same as general education courses and would Intermediate Algebra, being the class that I need, fall under the same category?
Answer: hell no! basic skills are more ****** important, dummy!

so this my planning for my highschool years. i still need to find more classes for my 12th grade because i have only 5.500 credits and need to get to 8.00 credits. I am planning to study Medicine. any suggestions or opionions will be awesome.
Answer: Your schedule seems pretty good, but Precalculus as a senior? i am going to take AP Calculus BC as a senior. I suggest moving one of your tenth grade classes to your junior year and switching it out with intermediate algebra(because you can take those two concurrently at my school) Then switch Precalculus with a class your Junior year and add a calculus class into your senior year. If you want to go into medicine, then you need to have as much math and science classes as you can get, but you also need to be well rounded. So make sure that your doing extracurriculars that you love and that will get you noticed. You need to start thinking about ways you are set apart from all of the other people with just as impressive schedules as your. Well, I hope I helped you at least a little.
(sorry if it was a little long, but i research a lot of these thing because I want to be a cardiothoracic surgeon)
Question: What do I do if I'm being charged for concurrent classes that I canceled and the school didn't withdraw me? In January I registered and paid my fees for my concurrent classes through UCR extension during the 3rd week into the quarter but the very next day I changed my mind and decided that I don't want to go to UCR extension anymore so I went in to ask for a refund. The office told me since it was the 3rd week the refund policy would only give me back 25% of my money. Even though I barely registered and paid yesterday. So I filled out a refund form and stated why I want to cancel my classes and requesting for a refund and submitted it to them. But I wasn't assured so I decided to call my bank and canceled the check I wrote yesterday thinking that they can't do anything about it if the check bounce. Ever since then I thought I have been dropped but today I received a bill saying that I owe two grand from UCR extension and that it must be paid by april 15th. What do I do? Because I havent gone to class since the day I canceled my check. I am planning to go to the office on monday to tell them this but I am scared that they will say there is nothing they can do. If that happens I really don't know how I;m going to pay two grand for classes I had already canceled. Please help me, any advices would be appreciated. Thank you.
Answer: Unfortunately, you are in the wrong here and I doubt they will be willing to let you off.
It is very normal for schools to have a period of time where you can receive back a full refund--and as time goes down that refund amount becomes less and less. Just because you paid only a day before does not mean you qualified for a full refund. Likely a full refund would only be accepted in the first week of the quarter, and from that it was reduced.
Even though it was the first time you paid, it's still into the third week of the quarter and so to go and ask for a refund still requires you to be held accountable in the same way as if someone had paid in the first week and then came back in the third week wanting a refund.
By attending UCR extension you undoubtedly signed a contract agreeing to pay the fees required and that you understood their refund scale, which I'm sure was also detailed somewhere for you. UCR extension was going to give you the 25% of your fees but you instead decided to cancel your check and remove all money from them--which I'm sure is breaking a contractual agreement you made with them when you signed up for the school. Even though you never fully took the courses you are still responsible for fulfilling the contract and that is why you are still being charged.
You can't just cancel a check for a service you did receive part of because you no longer want it. It's like bringing your car into a shop, agreeing to pay a certain amount for X, Y, and Z repairs, having X repair done and then requesting that your car is returned to you. And after you pay them you go back and cancel the payment because "well, I didn't get all the things I was going to do originally."
Question: Obama wants badly disabled vets to get concurrent pay, are his code pink supporters going to stroke out? God I hope so.
http://www.military.com/features/0,15240…
Obama's CRDP Plan Would Help 103,000 Disabled Retirees
As reported here last week, President Obama has asked Congress to phase in "concurrent receipt" for all Chapter 61 retirees – those who received a disability retirement from the Department of Defense.
This week we explain more details of the plan which, if enacted, would boost pay for 103,000 veterans by more than $2 billion through 2014.
Concurrent receipt means being able to receive both VA disability compensation and military retired pay earned for years served. For many decades, retired pay had been reduced by the amount of disability pay.
Gary McGee, assistant director of military compensation in the Department of Defense, explained the changes ahead for Chapter 61 retirees if Congress agrees to the Obama plan. He also provided sample calculations to show how the impact will vary widely based on individual circumstance.
Most Chapter 61 retirees were forced from service by ailments or injuries before they could serve 20 years and qualify for regular retirement. Others Chapter 61 retirees served at least 20 years but still qualified for a tax-exempt DoD disability retirement for permanent medical conditions.
The administration, in effect, would expand eligibility for the Concurrent Retirement and Disability Pay (CRDP) -- a way of recalculating retired pay -- to all Chapter 61 retirees.
This guy may shape up after all, who knows.
Answer: Why would any American have a problem with supporting Disabled American Vets ? They deserve every bit of help we can give them for their sacrifices and service.
Question: Brock University - Phys Ed/Concurrent? I was just wondering if anyone knows if I could get in. My marks are pretty good; I expect to get the following this year:
1st Semester:
Functions: 85%
Biology: 70%
Leadership in the School (U course):93%
2nd Semester:
Data: 90%
English: 83%
Exercise Science: 87%
Total grade 12 average: 84.67%
They said that the cut off last year was 89%. This year it says that the requirements are mid-high 80's. I know that I do not exactly fall under this category BUT I do have a lot of extracurricular activities and experience with children. To list them briefly:
Club Volleyball (planning to contact the coach to play varsity)
School…
Volleyball
Tennis
Badminton
Environmental Club
Experience…
Camp councilor of deaf children (knowledge of basic sign language?)
Volleyball coach
Elementary School Coop program (grade 11)
Peer helper – Phys Ed (grade 12)
Does this look like I have a good chance even though I don’t meet the exact grade requirement? Could I get into Queens/ Laurier as well? Any advice, experience and/or knowledge is welcome!
Answer: Usually schools don't have a "requirment", but they have a wanting of higher students. Your extracuricullar activities might help, but if they are that strict on grading, then it probably won't do enough. I wish you luck, sorry I can't give a better answer.
Question: When is a concurrent connection to the server counted as one? [Hosting]? Hello I have a hosting plan and my hosting plan says i can have 200 connections at the same time on my server. My server has many funny videos in a static page some are from youtube some are from my ftp uploaded.
While the video is loading does it count until all the video is loaded as an open connection and when the video is finished it closes?
When it is a static page with images does the connection close when all the page is fully loaded or it still remains open?
What about flash games if a visitors leaves the page open on his browser and isnt playing the game will it count as a live connection still?
What about videos from youtube do they count as connections to my server or only the static part and the embeded video is youtubes thing and the connection isnt open even when the video is buffering and playing.
Thank you for your constructive comments will rate and vote 10 points.
Answer: Make sure that your video is in the right format--MP4 for youtube. i recommend u convert ur video to the right format with leawo free video to flv converter. http://search.yahoo.com/search;_ylt=A0oGk0dyuhxLOx4AwkNXNyoA?p=leawo+video+to+flv+converter&fr2=sb-top&fr=yfp-t-701&sao=1Try it and i think you will like it
Question: Good sites/ programs to start learning German? Right now I'm a freshman in High school, I plan on learning a second language so I can attend a University, so I plan on getting a concurrent enrollment into a college so I can learn it. What are some websites or programs that can help me get a head start before I start taking the class?
(For those of you who are wondering why I want to learn German, is because I am German myself, but I cannot speak the language.... Yet..)
Answer: have a look at these:

Question: Will IEP plan being developed concurrently w 504 plan undermine success of 504 plan.? Child (10) has no mental disorder to prevent learning but is emotionally disturbed (PTSD illness-child is 3 emotionally) and has never been in school or around children other than siblings until a year ago. Child has the ability to control tantrums when taught through guardians and therapist. Desired education plan is 504. School wants IEP but child will have to be proven incapable of learning due to a mental disorder that makes him mentally unable to learn. I want child to have a 504 plan (can ONLY be done before an IEP) to see how child progresses. School wants to do an IEP and get it started concurrently w the education plan. I believe by having a concurrent IEP plan being developed will undermine the school working towards making the 504 plan successful. What do you think?
Answer: Go with the IEP plans. Once the tantruming stops, as it should have long ago, then the child can be reevaluated. If she/he does not meet the requirements any long then, the IEP will be terminated. Determination of a 504 could also happen then.
An IEP provides alot of discipline protection where the 504 does not. A tantruming child could be suspended. If the tantruming is part of the disability, you can't suspend!
Edit - I worked for three school systems and have never, ever heard a school deny a child of an IEP. It direct contrast, it's the parent who wants the school system to not "label" their child. A child with an emotional disability requires a lot more than special seating or extra time for assignments as are listed on a 504 plan. You'll get the prior written notice at the meeting. It's the summary of what decisions were made at the meeting.
Question: Best N wireless router for heavy traffic? Ever since I upgraded our internet plan our useless router frequently hangs and needs to be reset due to the strain of traffic. Between my housemates and I we have 8 or so laptops connected to the router at any given time using stuff like torrents and p2p.
Can someone recommend which is the best N wireless router at the moment for very heavy traffic?
i.e. router that supports most number of concurrent connections without hanging (NAT table size anyone?) Money isn't really an issue I guess.
Answer: Look for a N+ Router. Follow below to see some of the best on the market.

Question: High School Sophomore needs advice...? English:
I plan on taking both AP English 3 Language and Composition and AP English 4 Literature and Composition but I only wanted to take an exam from one of these. Which one should I take? Are they hard?
Math:
For next year, (I'm currently a sophomore) I plan on having concurrent enrollment in Algebra 2 Honors and Pre-Calculus Honors. Before I came to the U.S. (I came from the Philippines), I already took Algebra 1 and Geometry. When I first came here in 8th grade, I didn't know the system in the U.S. so the counselor of the school assigned me in Pre-Algebra. She didn't know that I took Algebra and Geometry. I made very high grades (like 100s everytime). Would it be a good idea to have a concurrent enrollment in Algebra 2 Honors and Precalculus Honors since I took Algebra 1 and Geometry twice and made good grades? I wanted to take these courses so that I can take AP Calculus BC on my senior year. (Or should I take AP Calculus AB or AP Stats instead?)
Science:
I took Biology Honors and Chemistry Honors during my first 2 years of high school. I'm taking Physics Honors for my junior year. Which AP course should I take for my senior year? AP Bio, AP Chem, AP Physics C, or AP Environmental Science?
Social Studies:
Would it be a good idea to take AP Psych for an elective? I am very interested in Psychology and I might minor or major in it but I heard that it's a useless course.
Foreign Languages:
I took Spanish 1 and 2 Honors. Made good grades (Not less than a 97 on my report card). I'm considering taking a different language for my next 2 years (like Latin or German). I still plan to continue learning Spanish but on my own and outside school. I heard that colleges require 2 years of the same language but prefer 3-4 yrs. of the same language. Good idea? I'm also planning to take Hebrew during the summer.
Community Service:
How do you measure community service? How will colleges know that I really did a certain community service?
Answer: Hey bud,
I'm a junior myself, and I'm taking/have taken the majority of the courses you've mentioned (I take 6 AP courses and two courses at the local University during the day). Take it from me - AP classes suck, but if you get through them, which you absolutely can, then your GPA will be so high that it's not even funny (not kidding!). Do NOT take two AP English classes in the same year - AP English is hard enough as a stand-alone course. Every teacher teaches it differently, but one thing is certain, it is absolutely always difficult, 100% of the time.
Get as far ahead in math as you can. It's the only thing you'll see again later in your life (college). Algebra II and Precalculus are the same class (Precalculus is an extension of Algebra II), and Calculus has absolutely nothing to do with Precalculus or Algebra II. Make sure you take Calc, and Stat is not as important.
Take AP Chemistry in your senior year. It is difficult material, but as soon as you master it there is no going back to not understanding. If you read the Barron's book alongside with your class text and ask the teacher when you do not understand, you will do absolutely fine. AP Environmental Science is a joke, don't waste your time.
If you want a primer in the rather drab subject of psychology, take AP Psych. It touches on absolutely everything in the current field of psychology. Sure its useless, but so is everything else you'll be taking in high school. It's a relatively easy course.
If you want to take a language (I dropped my language after two years) then stick with the same one, but I would drop it in favor of another academic subject/dual enrollment at a college if you can.
Community service is extremely important and very rewarding. If you think that the only reason to do community service is to get into college, you need to get your priorities in order and seriously think about your place in the world - I'm not kidding. There are people that need help, and you can give it to them - it's an absolutely wonderful feeling. You get names and phone numbers for confirmation of community service - if you lie about community service on your college application and get accepted, shame on you, you are a disgrace to humanity, sorry to say it. Lying to get ahead is never the right answer.
You need to relax a bit, the way I see it. If AP courses are hard at your school, cut back. Don't take ridiculously hard courses during the summer. Spend some time hanging out with your friends. Junior year will be the absolute hardest year of your life, but you can make it through, and I have faith in you.
Drop me a line if you want to talk more.

Question: Below 2.0 GPA, how do I get in to a 4-year university? Here's the situation. I went to a community college in high school and earned a 3.88 GPA there. It was a part of this new concurrent enrollment plan for students to earn an Associate's Degree while still in high school. (I was 3 classes short of my Associate's) ... I graduated high school and transferred 51 hours to a 4-year university. I fail out of college after just one short year and don't even have a 2.0 GPA. I'm back home now and need to know what to do. I need at least a 2.5 GPA to transfer into *any* other 4-year university and I obviously do not have that. Will my GPA earned at community college count towards anything? I am aware that once I get accepted, my GPA will start from scratch. But the issue here is I don't have the GPA to get accepted anywhere ... unless of course you count my hours at community college.
Should I go to community college for a semester or two?
What does that 2.5 required transfer GPA include? All work I've done at any institution, or the institution I've most recently attended?
[P.S. Please don't tell me to quit and forget about college. I've read a lot of questions/answers on here about low GPA's and I don't need those rude answers. I will graduate, I will finish. 2009 was just a bad year for me. Thanks.]
Answer: You might spend the spring semester finishing your associates degree. Then you'd have at least a 2 year degree.
The other thing you might do is talk to the admissions office at one of the four year schools you might like to transfer to. Explain your situation, and see if they can offer any advice.
You might also think about what went wrong in the year you were at the four year school. Was the work the problem, or was some other factor involved? Were you attempting a major that turned out to be too difficult? Many people have difficulty with the transition from high school to college, even when they've done college level work. The schedule, the distractions, and the pace of work is different than it is in high school.
All of these considerations would be things to address as part of your application to a four year school. You might also consider applying as a freshman, rather than a transfer student, although you may have too many credits to do so. As yours is a less usual situation, talking to the admissions office will probably give your greater guidance. (You might also talk to the academic counselors at the community college--they've seen lots of different situations.)
Good luck!
