Question: How do you file a complaint against a company you used to be employed with? Do I file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau? If so, do I have to go into my closest office to file the complaint or can it be done online? Also, what happens once a complaint has been made? Does it take a certain amount of complaints for any action to be made against them? How does it work? I'm really sorry for so many questions but your help is definitely appreciated. Thank you times a hundred!
Answer: A complaint about WHAT? If it's about employment issues such as hours, pay, etc, you have to contact your local labor department office. They will take your information and investigate as needed. The Labor department has the legal power to enforce labor law, including the ability to order payment to employees, and to fine or even jail company officials. For that reason, they are usually quite successful in getting results quickly.
If the complaint is unrelated to your employment, but related to consumer issues such as service etc, THEN you can file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Most have numbers you can call, as well as online contacts. The BBB has no actual power to enforce anything, they simply act as mediators and maintain lists of consumer complaints.

Question: How do you file a complaint against an immigrant contractor? I would like to file a complaint to a certain contractor who is using an E2 visa that is meant for him working at a dry cleaners while he is actually practicing contracting. He has valid C10 (electrical) and B (general building contractor) licenses interestingly under his name (is this possible with an E2 visa); is he breaking any laws?
If so how should I file a complaint?
Answer: It is legal for him to practice contracting, provided he has the appropriate licenses, and no he's not breaking any laws. In order to maintain his E2 visa he is required to work at the dry cleaners also, but provided he still is, he can do whatever he wants (within the law) with his "other" time.
You can complain about him to the better business bureau.

Question: How can I file a complaint to the NYC department of Labor for mistreatment of employee? My employer is saying negative things about me that I have never done. It is very obvious that he wants to fire me but I do not respect how he makes up things to blame me for which I did not do. I searched all over the NYC department of Labor of web site but cannot find a form to file a complaint about the employer. Can anybody please give me assistance in finding the place where I can file my complaint?
Answer: Is your place of work unionized? If not there's probably not a lot you can do. Are you being discriminated against for reason of race, national origin, minority status, sexual orientation or disability? If so, then you might have a case. If not then probably not unless this is a form of sexual harassment.
Question: How to make a formal complaint about an instructor at Red Cross? I'm taking a CNA course through Red Cross, and it's been hell. The teachers have been very rude in their behavior, and just three days ago did something that many would have called the police for. I won't go into details, but it is that bad. I've never made a complaint against anyone, so I need help. Should I complaint over the phone or go to their campus and talk to someone in charge in person? Any other suggestions are welcome.
Answer: Without details, it is difficult to give you specific advice. I can tell you, however, that the general pattern of behavior of instructors' supervisors is always to ask someone who complains, "Did you discuss this matter with the instructor personally?" You may be in a situation where such a conversation was not possible, but you will need to consider that choice first, because the supervisor usually will not pay much attention unless you have made a serious effort to resolve the problem between yourself and the instructor. Your question, however, was whether to talk on the phone or go in person, and the answer is that you should go in person and take with you as much physical evidence as possible. The supervisor will want to know exactly what happened, who did what, to whom, and when. So write these matters down and be prepared to sign the document, as it provides the supervisor not only with details but also something he/she can show the instructor. (Signed documents also help personnel offices handle replacement of teachers, if necessary, or defending themselves against lawsuits.)
Question: How to professionally respond to a complaint for a customer? I receive a complaint from one of my best customers; however, I honestly do not see what the complaint is. Answer: well, the company I work with uses the LAST model (Listen Apologize Solve Thank)
It seems like you have already listened, so that's good
You don't necassarily need to apologize that something is wrong, just apologize that she is not satisfied.
For Solve, ask her what she wants to be done and work with her to acheieve a solution.
Finally, thank her for coming to you with the problem.
This model works in almost every situation to not only handle problems, but it can work in every day life. I've even used it when my ex-girlfriends mom called me upset about me breaking up with her. It worked like a charm

Question: How to respond to a summons and complaint for a credit card? I am filing bankruptcy next month and just received this summons and complaint. Do I have to answer each complaint with a deny or agree? My lawer said to complete it because it would prolong the process for them to file a judgement and take wage garnishments.
Answer: Yes, you must answer this summons. In many courts failure to respond is an automatic judgment for the plaintiff.
Wish your attorney would have given you a few more pointers if you are simply trying to buy time. But for starters, in your answer state you don't have any documentation to either accept or deny any of the charges on the credit card. Demand to see some documentation (called discovery).
You are generally allowed one extension on the court date. Any decent excuse will do, such as needing more time to evaluate the discovery information, death in the family, whatever. Ask the court for 30 days, I rarely see them turn it down. Don't count on more then one without a darn good excuse.
Worst case....if it does get to court and they do manage to get a judgment, you still have some other methods of postponing garnishment that will hold them off another 7-8 weeks.
Tell your attorney to do his job and help you with this.....after all he's making some decent money on your bankruptcy.
Question: How do you go about filing a complaint over a grievance with a faculty member? I seriously need to file a complaint about both my registration department and my school's bookstore manager. Typically, who would I go to, to file this complaint?
Answer: you need to write a letter to the head of each place (find out who owns the store), expressing what it is you disagree with. make sure you cc the school president on the registrar. keep records. then wait for their response. there is a grievance committee at most universities. if you are a member of an education organization like the AFT, be sure they are kept informed. you might want to ask them first. if the response is unsatisfactory, go to the school president (in writing), and ask him/her to address the situation. be sure to remain objective in any written or verbal communication. stick to the facts and what the resulting problem is and how it affects the university negatively. good luck. remember, you are fighting a large government organization. it will take time and depending on the situation, you could face repercussions.
