Question: Procedure? For embalming or an autopsy, what shape do they cut you open in? Is it an H sideways, a Y, or a T?
If it is not the sideways H, is there any medical procedure where they do?
Answer: You are not cut open for embalming, expect for a small incision on the collarbone, about 3 inches long. During an autopsy, an incision is made in Y form from both shoulder down to the nipple, and then straight down the center to the pubic symphesis.
Question: procedure......? i've had 2 miscarriages, one in april and one in august(last weekend) and my OB/gyn referred me to a specialist so he can run some tests on me to figure out what is wrong and he is going to do this one procedure. It involves injecting water into my uterus and taking x-rays to see if i have any abnormalities of the uterus. Has anybody/anybody you know had this done before?? was it painful, uncomfortable or for the most part ok?? Im really nervous because i've never been thru something like this and dont know of anybody that has...please no rude answers!
Answer: I am unsure if this is the procedure you are having, because a HSG is done for infertility. You obviously are not having that problem, as you are able to get pregnant, but not able to carry a pregnancy. An HSG uses contrast media (dye) and x-rays. A hysterosonogram uses water and ultrasound to evaluate the uterus, but I have not known it to be used to evalutate repeated miscarriages. Hysterosonograms are usually used to try to find a reason for abnormal vaginal bleeding. So the x-ray and water has me confused, as there is not a test that uses both of those. But, here is some information on HSGs.....
I work in a free standing imaging facility, but I have never had an HSG....although I have assisted the radiologist in hundreds of these. We very often do a HSG on a woman, only to have them back in our office a few months later for their OB ultrasound! And that always makes us smile!
Where I work, both your OB/GYN and the radiologist work together to perform this study. There is also a female radiologic technologist in the room with you to assist the doctors. You lay on your back on the x-ray table, with your rear-end near the end of the edge of the table. You are in the same position as you are for a pap smear. You will have a sheet over your lower body. The only person down between your legs is your OB/GYN. The radiologist and the technologist are not invading your privacy. The OB introduces a speculum in order to see your cervix. He introduces a skinny tube through the cervical opening (cervical os). Once the tube has bypassed the cervix and is in the uterus, the speculum is removed and the technologist helps you carefully scoot up the table and straighten your legs....we have to be careful, so the tube doesn't come out. At this point, we use a fluoroscopic x-ray tube, which allows us to watch, on a TV screen, as a contrast material is gently introduced into the uterus via that tube. We can see this on the TV screen in real time, as it is happening. If your tubes are open and patent, the contrast will flow from your uterus, into both uterine tubes and spill out into the peritoneal space. Once we see this, the OB takes the tube out of your body, and both doctors leave the room. The radiologic technologist will generally take three x-ray images of your pelvis with the regular overhead x-ray tube. You usually know if your tubes are open and not blocked before the study is done.
The contrast itself is not radioactive....it just allows us to see the size and shape of soft tissues. We use the same contrast to see your ureters, which attach your kidneys to your bladder. Without a contrast media, the uterine tubes and the ureters cannot be visualized on x-ray. Since we are not introducing contrast into your blood system, the risk of a reaction to the contrast is nothing. In 15 years, I have never seen a single adverse reaction to the contrast....not even a minor one!
Now, how will this feel to you? Well, as I said, I have never had a HSG, but I have talked and interacted with hundreds of women who have had the procedure. When the tube enters the cervix, you will most likely feel some cramping. Most women describe it as mild menstrual like pain. An OTC pain reliever can help, and pre-medicating is just fine to do. You may experience some spotting. You will end up with a sticky, clear fluid on your panties, as the contrast left in your uterus will leak out of you. We supply our HSG patients with a panty liner, but you may want to make sure you have one with you, in case one is not offered to you.
The contrast which is introduced into the uterine (Fallopian) tubes seems to "flush" debris from the tubes. This seems to help in many cases.
"Pregnancy rates in several studies have been reported to be slightly increased in the first months following a hysterosalpingogram. This may be due to the fact that the flushing of the tubes with the contrast could open a minor blockage or clean out some debris that may be a factor that is preventing the couple from conceiving. Some of these studies suggest that using oil based contrast provides a greater increase in pregnancy rates after a hysterosalpingogram than does the use of water based contrast."

I do not think the oil based contrast is very common anymore. You might ask what kind of contrast they are giving you, just for curiosity's sake! Best of luck to you!
Question: What is the procedure to install Linux, tell me the entire procedure for installation and the after procedure? What is the procedure to install Linux, tell me the entire procedure for installation and the after procedure, what to do and what not to do while installing and even after installation, and what is mounting.
Answer: Here are some options for installing or trying out Linux
Option One (Full installation)
I thoroughly recommend Linux Mint 8 Main Edition which is built upon Ubuntu 9.10 Its easy to install and easy to use plus it comes with much of the software you are likely to need preinstalled

You download the ISO. image of Linux Mint 8 then you need to create a Bootable LiveCD for installation
Linux Mint 8 can also be run direct from the LiveCD from Booting up without touching your Hard Drive
Option Two (Install Ubuntu inside Windows XP and Vista)
Installing Ubuntu as a dual-boot with Windows without partitioning
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Wubi
You keep Windows as it is, Wubi only adds an extra option to boot into Ubuntu. Wubi does not require you to modify the partitions of your PC, or to use a different bootloader, and does not install special drivers. It works just like any other application.
Wubi keeps most of the files in one folder, and if you do not like it, you can simply uninstall it as any other application.
Boot in to windows insert the Ubuntu 9.10 LiveCD and you will offered the option of installing inside windows which is where the Wubi installer comes in, you will be asked how many gigabytes you wish to allocate to Ubuntu (I recommend 8gb) then you set a password for your installation then click install and thats it.
Once Ubuntu is fully installed upon starting your PC you will be given a choice of which operating system you want to use Windows or Ubuntu

Question: What procedure is the best for removing pre-cancerous cells in the cervix? I just recenly had an abnormal pap-smear. I was diginosed with CIN II pre-cancerous cells in my cervix. Has anyone had this and what procedure or steps were taken to rid of these dangerous cells?
Answer: The loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP) is currently one of the most commonly used approaches to treating high grade cervical dysplasia discovered on colposcopic examination. It is also known as "large loop excision of the transformation zone" (LLETZ). The procedure has many advantages including low cost, high success rate, and ease of use. The procedure can be done in an office setting and usually only requires a local anesthetic, though sometimes a general anesthetic is used, especially if the patient is highly anxious about the procedure.
Question: What is the procedure for administering a heart catherization? Are you given anestheia and how long is the procedure? What will be done in the procedure?
Answer: A cardiac catheterzation is a procedure that primarily looks at the circulation of blood through your coronary arteries. Small amounts of radiopaque contrast is injected and observed under fluoroscopy(a type of x-ray movie) as it circulates. The MD will be able to visualize any area of narrowing in these arteries which could be responsible for symptoms of angina, or could lead to a heart attack.
Specific procedures vary between hospitals and doctors, but very generally:
A local anesthetic is used in the femoral artery area (groin) and some labs routinely give other IV sedation as well (usually Versed which is similar to Valium). A sheath, (a special kind of IV access, about 4 inches long and just a little thicker than spagetti) is inserted into the artery, and through this sheath, the MD will snake different catheters from the groin to the coronary arteries. You will not feel the catheters in your heart, because there are no nerve endings in the vessels like the aorta.
There is a large x-ray camera over your chest that will move to several different positions as they take different views of the contrast dye circulating. They typically take 5 to 10 pictures of your arteries. Most people do not feel the contrast injections.
You may feel a "hot flash" kind of feeling when they take a picture of the ventricle (pumping chamber) of the heart, but this only lasts for 30 seconds or so.
If only pictures of the arteries are taken, a cath can take about 15-20 minutes once things are set up and the doctor is in the room.
Sometimes, another kind of catheter is put in the vein to measure pressures in the heart chambers and to check pressure gradients across the valves. This can add time to the procedure.
After the cath, all catheters and the sheath will be removed.Pressure is usually applied to the groin site for 20 minutes to keep it from bleeding, and then you will probably be on bedrest with your head fairly flat and your leg straight for 4 -6 hours. This is to allow the access site in your groin to stablilize so you won't bleed.
You should not feel any discomfort. A cardiac catheterization should not be painful in any way. Most peolple go home the same day if no other procedure is needed.
Hope this was helpful :>)

Question: What procedure do clinics perform when women donate ovarian eggs? I'm interested in doing it myself but a bit hesitant. I dont know if there's a big risk bc if there is then i'm not doing it. If you are a nurse or work in one of these clinics or know someone who did it please let me know what the procedure is.
Oh and i'm 5'3ft, weigh 150lbs and i'm 24. In the process of losing at least 10lbs since my BMI has to be good in order to donate.
Answer: http://health.howstuffworks.com/egg-dona…
That's a nice in depth answer, but for a shorter one... this isn't something you can do swiftly, it's a lengthy process and not to be taken up lightly. I don't think there's a lot of risk attached really, but it's not like donating sperm.
Question: What is the normal procedure for paying a debt being settled by an attorney? My attorney is helping me resolve certain debts, & has asked me to give the money to him, he said he will put it in a trust account and then pay the amount owed to the creditor out of that.
I have never done this before, is this normal procedure? I feel weird about it, it is a lot of money and I'm worried it could be a scam, how do I know he will pay the amount to the creditor? What could I do about it if he didn't? He does seem trustworthy and has been in business a long time, I just don't know what is normal procedure.
I would appreciate guidance from those who have been through this and/or work in law.
Answer: It is normal to place the funds in a trust account. The purpose of this is to keep those funds separate from your normal funds so that it does not get spent or mixed up once payments are settled and due to the creditors. It also acts as a guarantee to the creditors that you have the money ready to pay them upon settlement. You can keep track of the trust account and make sure the payments are going to the proper creditors if you want.
If your attorney does not pay the creditors and takes any of the money for himself, mixes it with his own money, or does anything else that you would be worried about he is exposing himself to a major malpractice lawsuit which would ultimately cause him to lose his license and not be able to practice as an attorney ever again. Not to mention the criminal charges for fraud and embezzlement which would put him in jail for a good amount of time.
If he has been in the business for a long time, you should have nothing to worry about.

Question: What happens during the procedure of putting braces? I am thinking of putting braces but would like to find out more what happens during the procedure of putting braces.Actually i wanted to put it sooner..but i heard that the dentist will jab my gums..so guys..can anyone tell me the exact procedure?
I also have a teeth growing on my gums,do i need to pull it out or just put braces?
Answer: It is up to the orthrodontist if those teeth need to be pulled. If they are permanment teeth then most likely no. If he did pull them out then there would be nothing that would grow back.
The procedure of braces is really that simple. First they will put spacers in your mouth. Spacers are like little rubber bands that they put in your teeth so the braces go on easier without pain. I can't say how many you will because it is different for everybody. Sorry! Then in the next week you will go back. They will remove the spacers and take an impression of your teeth. It is just a silly putty kind of stuff they put in your mouth for a minute or so. I guess this is for the braces. Then they put the spacers back in. They will probably take x-rays of your teeth, just so that they can tell if there was a huge change when you get your braces off. Then after another week, they will finally put your braces on. These doctors usally go a little crazy and when they come to see you, they say Today is the big day. Are you excited? But, don't worry about it. I really don't know why they say that either. May be they feel sorry for us! Lol! Anyways when you go there to get your braces, much sure you bring some chapstick. They put this plastic thing over your face so they can see all of your teeth. Your lips will get chapped from this, believe me. What they do is they take bracket by bracket and glue them on one by one to each of your teeth. This is not painful at all. They then take a ( sometimes blue ) bright light and put it over your teeth for the glue to dry. Then they weave the wire through each bracket and glue that in too. They have to make sure that each bracket is in the correct spot. If you want to have braces for the minimium of years, then don't get the clear brackets or clear wires. They tend to go up higher on your teeth making your upper and bottom lip look bigger. This then causes it to take longer to fix your teeth. Your teeth will feel fine the very first day you get the braces, it's the next day that hurts the most. You can take advil or ibeprofun to fix taht problem. The pain is different for all people, so you might feel more pain then others.

Question: Did you ever have the hospital procedure to clear your sinuses? My 14 year old son is due to have this procedure, he suffers badly with severe headaches and sinus infections.Just wondering does this procedure work and will this be the end of it?
Answer: Yes, I had this procedure done when I was about 13 as I was always suffering from sore throats and blocked up nostrils. Our GP at the time refused to let me have my tonsils out after my parents request. I was injected and anaesthetised prior to the operations which was about four individual visits but was not a very pleasant experience to say the least and even after 42 years I can remember it all to well. But to answer your question, it did however put an end to the sore throats but I even today I regularly suffer with my right sinus and very often have a pain behind my right eye, very much like a Migraine on one side to which I have to take strong painkillers and nose inhalers prescribed my GP. Remember though that in 42 years, technology have advanced in the medical profession and what was an awful experience back then may not be as bad today and may achieve satisfactory results.
Looking back though, if I didn't have the operations I may have been much worse than I am so I have to be thankful in some ways. Anyway, I am just providing an honest answer from my own experience and not trying to deter you from relieving your son of his dreadful problem. I fully understand what he is suffering and wish him the best of luck.
Question: What is the procedure of becoming a Taxi Driver in New Zealand? I am planning to move to New Zealand What is the procedure of becoming a Taxi Driver in New Zealand. Is there a system of a work permit, I know i will require a diver's license but i dont know a lot more. Any help would be appreciated on how i would have to go about becoming a cab driver and also how much does a Cab driver working full time earn per month approximately.
Answer: There's a helluva lot of red tape involved - and of course, fees.
You must prove to the Police that you are a "Fit and Proper" person, which means; no convictions, good character and referees who can attest to that.
Then you fill in the form.
Of course you must have a drivers licence, before you get your passenger service (passenger) licence.
You must demonstrate that you know all the law, all the geography of the area in which you intend to work, and can handle a vehicle with precision.
It may take 6 months.
If you are the owner of the vehicle being used, your must hold a passenger service (vehicle) licence too.
These vehicles are subject to very strict and rigid engineering and safety standards called a CoF. The dimensions between seats, between the floor and the seat, between the roof and the seat, between the seat and the side walls are all carefully measured to the millimetre. The brake drums or discs are taken off the vehicle and checked for wear. There must be a light or a buzzer on the dashboard that activates if a door is open. plenty more things as well.
The best way is to buy a vehicle already CoFd, rather than the usual WoF. Buy an ex rental or someone elses CoFd vehicle if you are buying second hand. Check with a new vehicle, as some can not be CoFd off the shelf, and modifications to them to bring them to the required standard may not be possible.
Check what vehicles are already certified.
Drive a shuttle is my advice, the work is alot easier and less stressful as you rarely have to deal with drunks and louts.
The difference between a taxi and a shuttle is that taxis have a point to point fare worked off a meter; shuttles have zonal fares - usually a price for the first person and then so much per head for each other person on the same trip going to the same address.
A taxi is an exclusive ride unless the first hirer gives the driver permission to take on extra passengers heading in the same direction; a shuttle ride is shared, unless the first person on pays a charge for the ride of a sum equivalent to what the driver would collect if the vehicle was full.
Most taxi or shuttle drivers can make a reasonable living, but you have to move in the the field of chauffeur before you start earning an above-average wage.
I'm not sure, but I think you have to be a New Zealand citizen.
Best of luck!
