Diligent Inquiry

When you don't know where the opposing party is to serve them, the court requires that you try hard to find him or her. The effort you make to find the opposing party is called diligent inquiry. If you can't find the opposing party, you may file an affidavit of diligent inquiry and ask the court permission to serve by alternate service.

Question: Does any one know any good resources for Pro-Se divorce plaintiffs (Florida)? I am helping my boyfriend divorce his estranged wife who he has not seen or heard from in over two years. We have filed the initial proceedings with a failed attempt at personal service. I'm now working on the diligent search and inquiry process in order to serve constructive service. I am basicly looking for information on how to prepare source evidence, to submit with the Dilligent Search and Inquiry Form. Any help would be great, thank yous to all in advance.

Answer: You can try westlaw, findlaw (this is free) or lexis.
