Answer: Game tapes.
Question: what is the significance of the waving motion pitchers do with their glove when throwing practice pitches? Somethimes they wave it over their shoulder, sometimes towards the plate. I assume it is to tell the catcher what type of pitch is coming, but which motion equals which pitch?
Answer: it's to signal their last pitch so that the catcher knows to toss his own warm-up throw to second base.
Question: Does anyone have any rectilinear equations of motion problems that i can practice on? I would love to get an A for physical science, and am willing to work hard on these questions/ problems.
Answer: Many of the physics questions on this web site are about Newton's Equations of motion. You'll get plenty of practice (and answer points) if you just scan through a few of them!

Question: Are there any websites for conceptual physics practice quiz on 1D motion? i need some practice problems on conceptual physics like can an object have velocity at 0 but still be accelerating
if anyone knows any good websites
Thank You
Answer: Use a search engine.
As for how it can have a velocity of 0 and be accelerating.....
Can it have a velocity of 10 m/s and be accelerating?
Can it have a velocity of -3 m/s and be accelerating?
While it's accelerating can it have -any- velocity at all that you want to plug in and still be accelerating? (No funny cracks about relativistic velocities ☺)
If you answered yes to all three, then you should be able to understand how it can have a velocity of 0 and still be accelerating. It will only have that velocity for an instant of time.

Answer: Hi,
I have a lot of experience marketing small companies online (I have 3 companies). One of the best ways is to sign up at business directories and protals. These are basically listings of businesses (simliar to the phone book). The advantage is that these portals usually get a lot of traffic and they're ranked high on Google because of all the quality links they contain.
My favorite portal is called Directory Exclusive. I signed up a few weeks ago because they're giving a away a free business card holder when a person enter's their company info. I received it in the mail 3 days ago =)
I don't know if they still have that promotion, but you can try to get the free card holder here:

Question: how can i practice to be a cheerleader? okay the last week of april is cheer tryouts. ive never done cheer before but ive wanted to do it since sixth grade (im gonna be a freshman) so ive been practicing motions and stuff. i know all the jumps and motions and a lot of tosses so i know what im doing. but how should i prepare for the tryouts? also how can you practice and prepare to be a flyer? all help is appreciated.
Answer: As a current high school cheer coach, I can tell you what we expect from our girls.
First and foremost we stress academics. Being a good cheerleader requires a great deal of practice, and this can sometimes hurt your grade point average. We always stress that you can't go on in life to make a living at cheerleading....you have to have an education to do that. Girls must maintain a 2.5 or better grade point average or risk being dropped from the squad for a season. If the grade point average is not raised, she is dropped for the year.
As for the actual requirements:
Knowledge of routines, cheers and chants: Know them backwards and forwards....well enough to begin them anywhere in the middle of the cheer. I have seen many good candidates dropped due to the inability to start a cheer at any point in the routine. We teach one cheer, one chant and a pretty complex 1 minute dance routine. The girls are given 3 days to learn this with tryouts on day 4.
Tumbling/Gymnastics to include cartwheel, roundoff, and back hand spring. Girls who can do a tuck usually get extra points.
Flexibility and Posture: Be able to do splits and heal stretch. In a Liberty or heal stretch position, hold your balance for 20 seconds. Extra points are given for girls who can do arabesques or scorpions.
Judges always look for personality and smiles as well as how well the contender keeps their movements sharp and in proper form! No sloppy arms, wrists etc. You can lose lots of points in this area.
The girls must do 3 jumps: herkie, toe touch, 1 other. You can work on these first on the floor....stretching yourself just a little bit more everyday until you have proper form. Then work on taking it to the air. When you have your prep and jump perfected, put 1 pound weights on each ankle and jump with them on from that point on. When it comes time for tryouts, take the weights off...you'll jump higher than ever because you have become used to jumping with more weight!
Most of all, the judges are looking for girls who have the ability to work as a team and engage the crowd to cheer on their school! make the judges feel like cheering with you by engaging them every time you get a chance.
For pics, help and cheers that you can learn, go to
cheerleading.about.com
hope that helps and good luck!

Question: How can you practice tennis at home? I really want to practice my tennis forehand, but I obviously don't have a court. I feel like I am inconsistent especially with my "motion". Can you guys think of anything that I can do to practice this and get it down?
thank you!
Answer: Believe it or not, I've gotten more than 50% better playing alone on my Nintendo Wii. I am an amateur but am a good player amongst other amateurs, lol. I understand scoring and the overall game better, I've perfected moves and am well into pro status. Now that I've achieved that status, the game is much more challenging.
Question: Can anyone offer advice for someone that suffers with motion sickness when doing the hazard perception test? My girlfriend suffers from quite severe motion (simulation) sickness when she practises for the hazard perception part of the theory test.
It gives her a headache and often makes her physically sick.
Can anyone that suffers with motion sickness offer any advice or tips that helped them through the hazard perception?
Thanks in advance
Answer: She could take one of the proprietary Travel sickness tablets before doing the exercise. One of my kids used to get sick every time she got into a car. taking a travel sickness pill a few times cure her of that.

Question: Cheerleading practice, age 6-10, What is a game that I can play with them that will also help w/ cheering? I just want to add a little fun to practice, but still incorporate the learning of motions and/or cheers.
Answer: Littl Sally walker.
Get them in a circle and have them sing:
Little Sally Walker Walkin down the street
She didnt know what to do so she stopped in front of me and said
Hey girl do that thang do that thang and SWITCH!
The girl walking around in the circle does a jump or a motion and whoever she stops in front of on "she stopped in front of me" has to corp her cheer motion.
Question: Help with circular motion? I completely don't understand these homework questions. I thought it would be as simple as plugging some numbers into the equation for centripetal force. Can anyone explain how to do these? They're basic high school level, so should be pretty easy for anyone here.
-In the Olympic hammer-throw event, an athlete throws a 7.3-kg lead ball attached to a 1.2 m cable. The athlete swings the ball in a circle three or four times before letting it go. If the ball attains a speed of 27 m/s, how much tension is there in the cable just before it is released?
-Spin Out is a carnival ride consisting of a large open cylinder. Riders stand inside with their backs against the cylinder wall. (a) What is the centripetal force acting on you in the ride if Rotational Motion Practice Problems the radius of the cylinder is 3.5 m, your mass is 50 kg, and you are traveling at 5 m/s? (b)What force keeps you from sliding downward and how does that force relate to the above spinning speed?
-A certain cord will break if its tension exceeds 250 N. Suppose the cord is attached to a 0.5 kg ball. (a) If the ball is swung in a horizontal circle at the end of an 0.8 m cord, how fast can the ball move before the cord breaks? (b) If the ball is to be swung with a speed of 25 m/s, what is the shortest length of cord that can be used?
How do I do things with tension??
Answer: You need to apply Newton's third law: f = m a. Tension is simply another word for the force, so you have to find the mass and the acceleration involved.
So in the first example the acceleration is v^2/r = (27 m/s)^2/1.2 m = 607.5 m/s/s. The resultant force (tension) is m a = 7.3 kg * 607.5 = 4434 newtons.
Question: What are the secrets to a smooth, one-motion and quick jumpshot? I have a nice jumper, but I'm not entirely sure how "smooth" or how "quick" it is.. any tips or tricks to getting a close to perfect jumper? I practice everyday, so I'm sure I can accomplish it.
Answer: You should continue shooting and eventually you will learn from your mistakes
Question: how do i make good star wars lego stop motion movies? i just started but i may need more practice. i took a picture, then moved the minifig a little then took another pic and so on. how should i download these pictures? do i use window movie maker? how do i get laser sounds effects?
Answer: On movie maker, insert each picture, lower the screen time to as low as possible, then double or triple the speed. Add your own audio for sound.
Question: What sustainable practices or programs should the Federal Government of the United States put into motion?
Answer: Public works and infrastructure should be overseen by a committee to ensure the reliability of the national infrastructure.
We need a national aqueduct system to eliminate the possibility of uncontrollable fires on the west coast while there is disastrous flooding in the midwest.
We need a micro-rail to ensure we can keep our food in our stores even in the worst gas crisis.
And we need the types of defense systems we believed existed before the pentagon was hit by a commercial aircraft
Question: Is it normal range of motion to be able to bend your big toe down a lot? I was at practice one day, and all my friends can stand on their toes (not tip toe in the common sense, but on the opposite side, like the nail bed side). Anyway, if I tried doing that I would probably break my big toes, but my other toes don't have any problem, am I just stiff or is the big toe naturally stiff?
Answer: Anatomically everyone is different. Some people experience more elasticity in their ligaments and tendons than others. Hence you have contortionists. If you are not having pain or problems with the toe, I would count it as a part of your anatomical makeup. If you are having problems, then you may have torn ligaments in your toe. Depending on what an MRI would show, it could be a partial or complete tear. Which may or may not require surgery. I hope it it just your anatomy. My best to you...
