Question: Does anyone know where to get an affordable home study in VA with convention countries (Peru)? I am planning in adopting my 2 little cousins from PERU.
1) I was wondering if anyone knows where to get an affordable home study in VA that work with convention countries like Peru?
2) Do I necessarily need to hire an adoption service provider?
Answer: I cannot help with what agency to use but you'll have to get one. Even though they are cousins you have so much to be done and you cannot do it yourself.
Question: Adoption in Tijuana, Mexico? First of all, my name is on a Mexican Birth Certificate, though I am not the biological father. I have been with the child and her mother since 2 weeks after the child was born. A DNA test conducted by the US Consulate has excluded me as the biological father. I continue to live with them in Mexico, and have accepted the child as my own. I am interested in adopting the child. How would I go about doing that? Should I talk to a Mexican lawyer? Do I have to go through an adoption service provider in Mexico, U.S., or both? Any info would be helpful...
Answer: You must definitely contact a lawyer for this. You can't be too careful on this especially since it seems to include to national jurisdiction.
I suggest a lawyer from Mexico first.
Question: Adoption fees for Haiti can be up to $12000. How much of that money goes to the government of Haiti? International adoption fees for Haiti are reported to vary between $9000 and $12000. How much of that money goes to the government of Haiti?
Haiti’s courts charge for judicial services, but their fees are not fixed. Prospective adoptive parents should expect to pay varying court fees and expenses. It is not possible to determine the approximate total cost to adopt a child in Haiti because there are no set adoption fees. Some adoptive parents have reported paying $3,000 USD, excluding airfare; while others reported paying much larger sums. The Adoptions Unit recommends that prospective adoptive parents contact their local agents or adoption service providers to inquire about current fees as they are subject to change. Haitian and U.S. law prohibit any payments to the child’s birth parent(s) or guardian(s) by the prospective adoptive parent(s) or their agents." (http://adoption.state.gov/country/haiti.…
Answer: Haiti's government is one of the most corrupt in the American continent, if they can resell the donated food to their own people, they can do anything to get some money.
Government officials are asking for bribes from the people in exchange of rice or other goods donated by the UN food program. No wonder they are so poor.
I feel bad for the people, but they are the one voting for them. enough.
Question: Does this mean he adopted a child by offering money or something? I know this dude and he got convicted for some penal code. I looked up what it meant it said,
"It is a misdemeanor for any person or agency to pay, offer to pay, or to receive money or anything of value for the placement for adoption or for the consent to an adoption of a child. This subdivision shall not apply to any fee paid for adoption services provided by the State Department of Social Services, a licensed adoption agency, adoption services providers, as defined in Section 8502 of the Family Code, or an attorney providing adoption legal services."
So what the heck? Did he adopt someone illegally? I knew him pretty well and never saw a kid that belonged to him. i knew he hung out with this girl but she lived at home with her mom and sometimes the mom and daughter would come over together to hang out.. what the heck?!
Answer: There are hundreds of possibilities. Unless you know the details, there is no point hazarding a guess.
Question: Is threatening children the new Christan way of protesting gay rights in Washington? Looks like it. Someone please tell me what the kids in the adoption and foster care services that will be losing Catholic support did to deserve this? Or is threatening kids how Christians plan to win support for their beliefs these days?
"WASHINGTON (AFP) – The Catholic church has warned it will stop joint aid projects with Washington's authorities if the city passes a proposed law to legalize gay marriage.
The US capital's Catholic authorities had asked to be exempted from part of a proposed same-sex marriage law that would also ban discrimination against gay men and lesbians.
In a statement, the city's archdiocese said the rules "could prevent social service providers such as Catholic Charities from continuing their long-term partnerships with the District government to provide critical social services for thousands of the city's most vulnerable residents."
Programs at risk include adoption and foster care services and could affect 68,000 people who use the services each year, the church said.
"Religious organizations and individuals are at risk of legal action for refusing to promote and support same-sex marriages in a host of settings where it would compromise their religious beliefs."
The bill is expected to be voted on next month."

Answer: I dont see a problem with this at all. They are sticking to there guns about the gay issue. Yeah it might hurt some things but sometimes you have to do whats right by you rather than what is Politicaly correct. Bravo to the catholic church to have the guts to do this. Its not PC but its good for them to fight for what they believe in.
Question: What percent of U.S. Counties have no abortion provider? Want to guess?
Fill in the blank in this paragraph.
"What 1,000 Abortions Have Taught Me
My first anniversary as a health worker here at Cedar River Clinic, one of the Feminist Women’s Health Centers in Washington, has just passed and the event has me thinking about the rewards and challenges of the past year. I have learned much. In that busy year, I figure I have born witness to about a thousand abortions, and learned much from the women we serve...
...For many women, the circumstances surrounding an unintended pregnancy make deciding whether to have an abortion a difficult task. For these women, the decision usually entails weighing out more than simply the options of parenthood, abortion or adoption. They struggle with the other parameters of their lives: jobs, money, living situation, and relationship status, among others. For some women, an abortion is the lesser of two evils, the choice they can live with most easily when confronted with the difficult dilemma of an unintended pregnancy. The anti-choice folks seem to think legalized abortion invites women to terminate, as if women would line up around the block to end their pregnancies just for the fun of it. They don't realize that many women, if it were possible to change some other life circumstances to make having a baby a realistic option, would choose to carry to term. Nor do they see the genuine regret these women feel because having a baby is not possible.
...For other women, the choice to have an abortion is more clear. Some simply do not want to be pregnant or have a(nother) baby. Others find those other circumstances of their lives, such as career and finances, much less easily changed than being pregnant and so, for these women, the decision can be very straightforward. I suspect some of these women would not choose abortion, if they were able change any of these other life parameters. The women who make the decision with clarity are not heartless, selfish, inhumane, un-womanly, devoid of "maternal instincts" or anything else. They are women who are clear about their options and the choice they make. More often than not, these women have a strong support network behind them and they appear to me to have a good sense of their own capabilities and limitations. I support their clarity as I do the ambivalence of other women.
...The biggest problem facing women wanting or needing abortion services is accessibility. Before I started working here, I could have told you that over _____% of all U.S. counties do not have a known abortion provider, but I didn't know what that statistic looks like. Now I know it looks like exhausted women who travel from Idaho, Alaska, Montana, Colorado, Oregon, even Canada, in search of services. It looks like desperate women who must sell precious and needed belongings, borrow and beg from friends and family to finance their journeys and procedure costs. It looks like frightened women who must travel alone to have their abortions among strangers and away from loved ones who support and nurture them. It also looks like the invisible faces of the women who couldn't borrow, beg or sell enough to travel here and won't be able to have an abortion."
And will you, your partner, or your daughter have a choice?
Answer: I don't know. If I had to guess, 40%??

4littlemonkeys--No Boring Answers here.... Feedback is feedback and this is what I am interested in learning about.
Answer: For us, I think the thing that we have the most problem with is our medical assistance. Our son has a rare disorder. Most of the doctors available through medical assistance know nothing about the disorder. We cannot use any of our son's medical assistance (unless he is hospitalized) for the specialists, etc., because he needs referrals from a medical assistance doctor. We can't use a medical assistance doctor because they don't know about his disorder and we haven't been able to find anyone who is willing to learn about it that takes medical assistance. So for our son, it's either follow what the state recommends and use a doctor that could put him in jeopardy because they don't understand his medical condition OR not use the services he is entitled to.

Answer: The oldest mentions of terms related to the formal name of Britain was made by Aristotle (c. 384–322 BC), in his text On the Universe, Vol. III. To quote his works, "... in the ocean however, are two islands, and those very large, called Bretannic, Albion and Ierna". The archipelago has been referred to by a single name for over 2,000 years: the term British Isles derives from terms used by classical geographers to describe this island group. Pliny the Elder (c. 23–79 AD) in his Natural History (iv.xvi.102) records of Great Britain: "It was itself named Albion, while all the islands about which we shall soon briefly speak were called the Britanniae
