Form
A model document to work from or a legal paper with blanks that you can fill in.
Question: What Form Do I Fill Out So That I Know How Much Money I Owe The IRS? I will be receiving a 1099 form and I have to fill out a W-9 form but what form do I submitt to the IRS so that I know how much I will have to pay them?
I am used to filing W-2 forms and sending the IRS a 1040 form.
I am just a bit confussed.
Answer: If all of your earnings are reported on a 1099MISC you are considered an independent contractor for the firm or individual paying you. In that case you still use IRS form 1040 however you also attach Schedule C to determine the taxable portion of that income. If all of this is confusing you may wish to contact a tax professional. It is not uncommon that they will find advantages that save you more than there fee
Question: What happens if a tax form is disregarded while filing taxes? I have received my W2 and 1099 forms, but my 1042S form got lost in the mail, was reissued, and was lost again. Since the tax deadline is approaching, should I just file with the forms I have and disregard the lost form? This lost form would have brought me more deductions, so I am the one who is at loss, not IRS.
Answer: You can file without it but then should later amend your return to claim this withholding.
You may want to file for an extension and then just do the return correctly the first time--less time and trouble.
Question: what form should a non resident employee file to avoid tax from it US employer? The US employer asked my father to fill a W-9 form in
order to pay him for services provided to them in South America where my father resides permanently. I've told my father that a W-9 is for
US residents, not for foreigners. And that he should
provide them with a W-8 form instead. Am I correct?
Or is there another form he should provide to avoid unnecessary US income tax witholding ?
Answer: Assuming that your father is NOT a US citizen or legal resident he is NOT subject to US taxation on any of this income. He does not have a SSN and cannot be required to get an ITIN (and isn't eligible for either anyway) so he does NOT need to provide any form or number to the payer of the funds. If they insist on a W-9 he could fill one out and write "Non-Resident Alien" where the SSN would go. That should satisfy the payer.
The W8-BEN and 8233 are for individuals temporarily in the US who are claiming tax treaty exemption from withholding or tax treaty reductions of tax liability or other tax treaty treatment of their tax situation. They are not used by a non-resident alien working outside of the US for a US employer.
Question: What form should I use to file Injured Spouse 8379 for 2006? I have been told I am still on time to file an Inujred Spouse Form 8379 for last year (2006). I only have the Form for this year, is it possible to use this form now? Do I need to get a 8379 2006? Please advise. Thank you.
Answer: The current form 8379 available at irs.gov is the one to use. The form did not change from 2006 to 2007.

Question: How do you load a form in Visual Basic 2008 so that the form would load in a panel? To elaborate, I put a SplitContainer on a form. It divided my form into two parts, which I wanted. On the left side there are buttons, and when I click on a button I would want to display another form inside the other part of the SplitContainer. How would I do that? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Answer: You could hide/show controls in the area of the form you refer to instead of using a subform in MS Access VBA style
---------
Marks solutions sounds great. I cannot duplicate it, because the express edition does not support splitters (or at least i am not aware of it).

Question: What form should I use to file my taxes if I own my own home? Also, am I eligible to use the IRS Free File if I own my own home and only make $46000 a year? I know that Form 1040EZ is the easiest to use, but if I own a home am I required to use Form 1040?
Answer: You're not required to use form 1040; however, if you have a mortgage, it would, more than likely, be beneficial to file form 1040 and itemize your deductions because mortgage interest is deductible (as is real estate taxes, state income taxes paid, personal property taxes).
I don't think you're able to use free file with itemized deductions; however, you could always buy Turbo Tax. It's a pretty simple program that leads you through the appropriate questions based on your circumstances.
Question: Is form 2106EZ the correct form to figure the travel expenses from job 1 to job 2? Is 2106EZ the correct form to figure my travel expenses, after I calculate the total mileage from my odometer, when traveling from job A to job B. Should I use part 1 and part 2 for this?
Answer: It appears 2106EZ is adequate, if (1) both "jobs" are as an employee rather than as an independant contractor, and (2) you do not get ANY employee reimbursement from ANY employer. If (2) fails, you'll need the full form 2106. If (1) fails, it's unclear whether you want a 2106 (EZ) or Schedule C (EZ).
Question: What liquid form of weed killer / herbicide and feed can i use on my lawn? At the moment i use Evergreen Complete to feed the lawn and kill the weeds. This comes in granular form which has to be then washed in after a few days. Is there a combined feed and weed that comes in liquid form which i can put in a backpack and spray? Answer: Evergreen also make a Liquid feed and weed!
The same Company also produce Verdone wich is probably the best lawn weedkiller that you can buy.

Question: How to form a compny for an investment property ? I am planning to buy an investment property. All my instincts say that it would be wise to form a compny for that. I am pre approved for a mortage but I have no clue how it works. My question is Mortgage company approved me not the new company that I am planning to form, which I will use to buy the property. How does this technically work can someone help me please ?
Answer: Even if you form a company, you will have to use your personal credit until you company is established. Getting a DUNS number will assist in that task. But you must consider if you are going to be a LLC, or and S-Corp, and if someone is going to be a partner, or your business is sole proprietorship.
For purposes of protecting your personal assets, you would want to be and S-Corp, however the cost to do this may be restrictive for you. The cost varies from state to state, in my state, Illinois, it cost almost $500.
You need to consider having a good accountant and attorney as well. Learn how to evict because it will happen. Know your state laws about tenant rights, which vary from state to state.

Question: What is the best form of martial arts; and how do I learn it? I'm 16 and male, and I lift weights. I don't necessarily want to learn how to "kick someone's a**" (although that would be nice to include, too). What I really want to learn is how do defend myself in as many situations as possible, as well as the philosophy behind the art form.
What form of martial art should I learn?
What is the best way to learn that form?
Thank you!
Also, i'm 1/8th Chinese, so I have a slight bias towards Chinese forms of martial arts.
I'd love to hear about all the forms, too, so tell me whatever you can! Thanks again.
Answer: EVERY Martial Art has it's own strength and weakness, So there is NO such thing as a "best" Martial Arts discipline, only GOOD Martial Artists or practitioners who've trained to perfect their techniques.
I've studied Martial Arts for the better part of 15 years (particularly Tang Soo Do and Hapkido; both are Korean Martial Arts disciplines.)
During this time, in my opinion the whole of Martial Arts (meaning EVERY discipline in the world) can be divided into two main groups Standing Game and Ground Game.
A Standing Game Martial Art is classified by fighting techniques that are used when the opponents are on their feet, Examples are: Tae Kwon Do, any disciplines of Karate (Goju Ryu, Shotokan, Isshinryu, Kenpo, etc.), Capoeira, Arnis, Muay Thai.
A Ground Game Martial Art is ANY discipline that involves ground fighting or wrestling on the ground, Examples are: Judo, Jujitsu (Japanese or Brazilian), Hapkido or Aikido (which also uses throws and joint locks and manipulation, but they also focus on ground fighting techniques).
studying one (or more) discipline that falls within each type of these two catagories will give you a well rounded fighting ability in handling yourself in a fight both when you kick or punch while your on your feet, and if your opponent happens to take you to the ground.
But the first thing you must do, is find out what Martial Arts disciplines are available to you where you live, and try out the classes on a trial basis (like a week or two if the class allows) and then enroll in the classes if they interest you.
Make sure that they emphasize perfecting your technique and not try to move you "through the turnstyles" or "sell" you your belt ranks; meaning that you actually earn your belt ranks, and actually take the time to teach you the proper way to learn your techniques.
You must also train on a regular even daily basis, whether in class or on your own, because your instructor can only do so much in teaching you, YOU must perfect your technique and work to improve yourself, because no matter how long you study Martial Arts, you're never going to "Master" it all, the belt you wear around your waist has no reference to what you actually know, it only means you've met the proper requirements to progress further.
Another thing is, that they shouldn't focus on how many tournaments their students have won or placed in, or how many trophies the school has on the walls, while it is impressive to have such winnings and accolades, but they are otherwise unnecessary because competition is the LEAST important aspect of Martial Arts.
so you should look for a good school and not a "Mcdojo's" or cookie cutter school or organization.
A Martial Arts school is the best way to learn Martial Arts, books and videos are only good for reference to perfect or research new ways to perform the techniques you will learn.
If there is a type of Chinese Martial Arts discipline near you and you are partial to it, then I suggest you begin there.
you're also taking a more active role in exercising bu adding weight training, Martial Arts will add another degree of muscle toning, flexibility, and coordination, as well as provide you with a good cardio workout if you are not already doing so.
good luck in finding a GOOD place to train my friend, no matter WHAT discipline you decide, it's good to have a good foundation to build on.
Question: What art form is it when one creates work from cutting materials and pasting them onto a board? My art teacher wants me to find out what kind of art form I did. I cut cardboard into shapes and pasted them onto a canvas and painted on the cardboard. What art form is this? Is it a mosaic, an assemblage or what?
Answer: I think it may be considered to be collage.
Question: What is the best form of martial arts for use in the real world? I've been considering studying a form of martial arts. The only problem is I don't know which type to go into. I know that some forms are mostly just for show (drunken boxing, capoeira) and others are more formal and intended primarily for sparring. So I just wanted to know what the best form would be for me to use in a real life situation.
Answer: Best self defense you can use comes from the Wisdom of Mr. Miyagi.
"Don't be there"
Avoiding potential trouble, having a good head on your shoulders, solid common sense, some simple security principles will all help you a hundred times more than Martial Arts.
In fact, 90% of empty hand techniques in Martial Arts are virtually worthless for real "self defense".
Self defense isn't an ego based thing where some guy is hitting on your girl at the bar. Self defense isn't going up against a guy who calls you out.
Most described "self defense" scenarios... are avoidable by common sense. Pretty easy to not get robbed if you stay away from isolated areas by yourself at night.
Robbing also doesn't require anything other than complying. Give up wallets, purse etc.
The true actual life or death things are rare, and when they take place if you are relying on unarmed techniques you are shorting yourself.
Realistically, being trained in how to deploy, retain, and accurately shoot a weapon is 100 times better than Krav Maga, BJJ, or anything else. Stress shooting, speed shooting, and reactionary shooting are far more effiicient and successful as far as true self defense.
Despite my training in Martial Arts, if a situation warrants lethal action, I trust Heckler and Koch over Krav Maga. When H&K aren't there, I trust Microtech, Emerson, or Strider.
The truth is, it doesn't matter what style you study as long as you study it realistically.
In the end, unarmed hand to hand is a very, very small portion of self defense.
Smarts, Common Sense, and basic Crime prevention techniques go a hundred times farther. It prevents you from ever having to actually deal with a self defense scenario. When you are faced with one, it is always better to be the better armed one, and the one with the most skill regarding being armed.
But first and foremost, you need to be able to recognize what is considered self defense, and what is completely avoidable.
Take the Martial Art you enjoy the most, because in the end that is really what is the most important. While yes there are many situations Martial Arts can help you out with, but realistically, you take it because you enjoy it. Chances are you will never have to use any of it, and the situations where you are truly in need of it, a weapon is a far more effective and realistic choice.
In the end, you do it because you love it. Not because it is a garuntee to keep you safe. Highly trained Martial Arts and fighters get stabbed and shot on a daily basis. Elite level law enforcement and soldiers get killed by untrained armed civilians or thugs. Luck plays a significant portion in your survival, common sense and street smarts even more.
I do Martial Arts because I love it, not because I think a particular style will work in a street situation 90% of the time. While I see merits of all Martial Arts when trained properly in many situations, those merits can be quickly destroyed by one person with a gun who is a few feet away.
I have used Martial Arts many, many, many times in a "street situation" they have served me well when I was working in a security capacity that required the use of non lethal force, and hand to hand skills. But that wasn't what I considered self defense.
I pray every day that I never ever have to get into a situation where I am in a true self defense scenario, because if I am, it will be the report of a firearm that is heard in the distance, not my kiai.
Just my two cents.
Edit: Shihan, I understand where your coming from but I never said a art isn't effective. I said street smarts would serve u ten times more than any martial arts when you are in a real self defence scenario. Surely you can understand what I'm saying. And I'm pretty fed up of most of traditional guy's including you saying competition makes self defence useless.
Seriously, to get good at fighting, you have to fight. It is simple as that. Sparring in full resistance is the second most effective way to do that. And competition, when facing a complete stranger without knowing him and going at it full 100 % without holding back until the match is over is the most effective way to get prepared for a fight.
Now are you telling me that to be trained for a self defence secnario, you can do that without the needs of training how to actually fight.
I don't know if your a martial art teacher nor if you actually teach students. Well if you do, then I have no idea how you train them. Without sparring (if not competition), you cannot mentally or physically prepared to defend yourself.
Question: How do I convert a form that is an attachment into one I can complete? I received an email with an attachment. The attachment is a form I need to fill-out. Right now the form is a PDF file. How do I convert the form in order to complete the info., in order to return it via email.
Answer: You need a PDF editing software like Acrobat (not the Reader) to make the PDF document into a fillable form.
If you don't have a PDF editing software, there are a couple of work arounds if all you want to do is send a filled out form back.
If you have an image editing software the reads PDFs like Photoshop, you can load the PDF in there. Type in your form text, and save it back as either an image or PDF.
If you don't have a PDF capable image editor, you can print out a paper copy of the PDF. Fill it out with pen. And then scan the filled out form to your computer to send it.
Question: How would you form an end to a plastered wall? I recently opened up a doorway into a bigger opening for no door, just a walkthrough. I will have trim around this opening, however, I need to first form the plaster back to the edge. How would I go about this and if anyone finds good resources, please post. I don't know if I should form with compound because of such a large fill, but any ideas would be great. Thanks!
Answer: If you are talking about the edge of the wall than you need corner bead which is nailed or screwed to the wall stud and you mud over it 3 to 4 progressively larger coats
Question: Which federal tax form do I use for work done in 2003? I was an independent contractor, but never filed my tax form. I made very little, if any, profit that year, and only 8K in income. Where do I get the form? What year should it say at the top?
Answer: You use 2003 tax forms you download at http://irs.gov for your 1040 form and instructions. You need to fight the normal tax and the interest and penalty - both - and in somewhat different ways. You need to write a hand-written letter to the IRS, better yet, call them also, at 1-800-829-1040 and tell them that you made a mistake of ignorance (you didn't know what you were required to do, and you had never filed before, and you didn't expect to make as much money as you did, and never expected to file a return, and then admit that you blew it.) It may or may not work, but the IRS loves honesty and people who don't have much money and are trying to be good citizens. Then ask them, "What specifically should I do?" Then write it all down, and do exactly as they say. GET THE PERSON's NAME and ID# that you talk to, and ask if he/she can: 1) MAKE A NOTE IN YOUR FILE that you called and are going to follow up immediately on what they said, and 2) ask if you can pay any tax due on installment and what is the IRS's fee schedule and charges if you do. Then, when you file your 1040 income tax return, write a HAND-WRITTEN letter, referring to your phone call and explain in the letter that you are very sorry, and you didn’t do it intentionally and you are trying to do exactly what the representative you talked to said for you to do – then give name of rep and #. Enclose this letter on top of your return when you file. Above all, be honest, innocent and nice. Trust me, they know the difference between your average citizen who makes a "dumb mistake" and the millions of sleazies who are all piped up to scam them and underpay. They know! And I know because I am an accountant, tax accountant and I have talked with IRS tax auditors up to the level of regional managers, and also done returns for my customers who were audited by the IRS and some who were in exactly the same position you are in! Now, in a straight-forward situation, the IRS will give you a straight-forward answer, and everything I just told you may not do you any good at all. BUT I HAVE PERSONALLY SEEN the IRS agent in an audit say, “Actually you owe us $3000, but just pay us $300 and don’t do it again.” HONESTLY. I AM NOT LYING. Many people will read this and SCOFF, and say, “He’s nuts!” But I am not nuts, and I am not kidding, and I am not lying. I have personally seen it – more than once. BE NICE, HONEST AND INNOCENT. It certainly CAN’T HURT YOU , AND YOU WILL SLEEP BETTER AT NIGHT, knowing you were nice and that you don’t have to try and COVER UP A LIE!! THAT'S PHASE ONE. The phase two is filing you 1040. Your self-employed income goes on Schedule C, and your PROFIT, NOT YOUR TOTAL SALES, is taxed a self-employment tax of starting (before adjustments of 15.3%). YOU NEED DEDUCTIONS TO REDUCE YOUR PROFIT!! Your biggest deductions are often automobile mileage to and from your contractor job. Then you can also set up a home office and say 10 x 10 feet = 100 sq. ft. were used exclusively for your business. Software will guide you through it, but it's hard to get 2003 software now. (I have it, and I just did a 2003 return ...), but the idea is this: you rent or won. If you rent 800 sq. ft. and pay $1000 per month, you home office is 100/ 800 = 12.5% of your total area. Then multiply 12.5% times your total rent (plus utilities and all you house expenses!!). 12.5% x $1000 = $125, but this is just per month. So if you lived there all year - EVEN IF YOU DID NOT WORK ALL YEAR - then multiply $125 x 12 months = $1500, and that's your home office deduction from your SELF EMPLOYED INCOME ON YOUR SCHEDULE C. But. like I said, you can deduct the cost of any office supplies used to support you getting and having this job plus about half your phone bill (don't say I told you so!), because you have to have a cell phone to have job nowadays, and the IRS does not consider that unreasonable. Plus don't forget any other driving around or any expenses related to the job, BECAUSE THEY ARE ALL DEDUCTIBLE. I did one just like your within the last 30 days. A lady's total income was $10,000, and we reduced her PROFIT and therefore HER TAX AND INTEREST AND PENALTIES to ZERO! Why would I lie or brag. i have nothing to gain here. I just want to help you and play the Yahoo game also. But when I do this, I DO THE BEST I CAN, because, for me, IT'S real: real people - real problems - real questions - real life. There may be other deductions you qualify for and even tax credits, but I don't know, without going through it all with you. If you have children, then you might get deductions and/or credits elated to them, etc. Collect all your receipts if you have any. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE RECEIPTS, CREAT THEM BY HAND. These are acceptable to the IRS many times, because the principle of receipts is "provide or create THE BEST EVIDENCE POSSIBLE.) Push to pay the lowest tax or none. Even te IRS will tell you this. But don't get GREEDY. It's just like if you're driving on the freeway and the speed limit is 65, and you're going 73. The police will probably PASS YOU by. But if you're going 90, you will pay. Same with the IRS: you can push to the MAX, and you have to, or otherwise, you will pay many times even more than you owe, because you miss some deduction or credit!! I hope this helps.
Question: What kind of form do i need for work if i clain my own taxes? My boss wants a form that he can fill out. I am claimingmy own taxes and i don't know what form to get, my boss doesn't know either. Thank you for your answers in advance.
He is my boss sorta. I do work for him, i am a subcontractor.
My boss is not taking taxes out of my paycheck. I have to do that on my own.
Answer: You'd have to pay income taxes and self-employment taxes yourself.
Depending on the amount of your income, you may have to remit taxes quarterly to the following:
to federal: employer and employee portion of Soc. Sec. and Medicare (15.3%) + federal estimated income taxes
to state/local: state estimated income taxes
