Surrender
In the context of an adoption, this is a term that is used to refer to a voluntary, as opposed to an involuntary, termination of parental rights by a biological parent of a child that is to be adopted, when the parent signs a formal written Relinquishment or a Consent to Adoption document, which usually takes place in the presence of witnesses and/or a Notary Public.
Question: surrender? camp freddy or cheap trick
Answer: Cheap Trick :)
Question: What freedoms do you surrender willingly, and what do you get in exchange for surrendering them? All of us surrender some of our freedoms willingly. Consider marriage, if you get married, you are surrendering your freedom to date others, but this is presumably for the greater good.
As a society what freedoms do we surrender willingly for the greater good? Which ones do you think are worth it, and which ones are not?
Answer: We are not surrendering our freedoms willingly, but the idiot in chief is taking them away, one at a time, that is why he has all the czars, each one works to destroy our freedom, all of our freedoms. wake up folks, that arms treaty, by Hillary , will have the UN come in and disarm us all. If we do not stand up NOW, we will not win. Surrender freedom for the greater good, is total BS, the Constitution and Bill of Rights, makes us the boss, and we do not have to surrender our freedom, we need people in office who will defend our freedom, and right now, BO is trying to take away all our freedoms. Disarm the citizens, easier government take over.
Question: How was the surrender at Appomattax important in the civil war? Been looking at sites and cant really find too much information. I have no clue why. But how is R.E. Lee's surrender important to the civil war and what are some comments from R.E. Himself?
Answer: How was it important?? It ended the war, at least Lee's Army of North Virginia ceased hostilities although fighting continued elsewhere for another couple of months. By that stage in the war Lee's army was in full retreat and risked being annihilated had they continued the war to it's bitter end.
Grant accepting the surrender allowed the Army of North Virginia to return home unarmed on parole, that is they accepted that the war was over. This might have seemed naive but it was an act of good faith. He also allowed Lee's army to be fed from Union rations. His magnanimous attitude and lack of triumphalness no doubt ease the defeat and helped with the reconstruction.
Question: What is the point in surrender when the prisoners are usually killed anyway? During the aftermath of the Battle of Alesia, the Gauls were defeated by the Roman Army led by Caesar. The chieftain of the Gauls, Vercingetorix, laid his arms down at Caesars feet and surrendered. He was imprisoned, and was executed 4years later.
What's the point in surrender then? If you're all going to die either way, wouldn't it make more sense to at least retain your honor and do a last charge, at least you're taking the enemy's forces down with you, rather than just surrendering.
I don't see the point why the Gauls surrendered.
Answer: Vercingetorix or whatever was being a good leader. He would rather he surrender and end the war than have it continue and have his fellow gauls slaughtered by the Romans. its the responsible thing to do as a leader of a military. However, back in those days it was iffy, because there was no surety that the other side would honor a surrender. for instance romans took prisoners, and made them fight each other in coloseums. nowadays, civilised cultures like the US and others, take prisoners and treat them well. iraqi soldiers surrendered in huge flocks because life was simply better as a prisoner.
Question: Is it true that the Japanese refused to surrender after the first atomic bomb was dropped? How is it possible that they refused to surrender? Did they not think the nuclear bomb was destructive enough? Were they waiting for something even more devastating?
Did they say "we defy you and we refuse to surrender" or did they just not say anything?
Answer: First of all there was only 3 days before the second bomb. They literally did not know what hit them. I don't know how much communication there was between Hiroshima and Tokyo after the bomb went off.
It is easy for us to say 'nuclear weapon' and everybody down to a 5 or 6 year old knows what we are talking about, but in 1945, only a few scientists knew what an atomic bomb was or even the theories behind it. I have no idea how many, if any knew that an atomic bomb was possible or what effects it would have.
Japan's cities had been bombed to rubble and ash for years. The destruction of a city had never been a cause for them to surrender. More people were killed in a single raid on Tokyo than in Hiroshima.
They were probably scrambling to try and get people together to try and figure out what happened in Hiroshima when Nagasaki happened. Since for years, right down to sailors and soldiers in the field, there had been orders never to surrender, to die first, it would not be an easy decision to have the high command and country surrender.
Question: How to surrender a bunny to a shelter? I have a rabbit, and i have to surrender it near the may of 2010 due to personal issues. Now i looked at the nearest rabbit shelter at my place, and they said that their place is full. Does that mean that they do not accept bunnies anymore, and how else can i get my rabbit to a safe shelter assuming none of my friends want it.
Answer: You don't care that they aren't accepting now, ask them in May 2010 whether or not they'll be accepting...if they say if there's room, then ask to reserve a spot just in case.
Personally, place a ad for an owner of rabbits currently kiiji or craiglists or locally who are looking for a new brother or sister to join there family, and then you know it's going to a bunny home, too!
Question: How much would be the surrender value for my Jeevan Anand policy? Hello,
I have paid premium of 12 thousands for 3 years for my Jeevan Anand policy. I am not interested in continuing. Please tell me how much surrender value I'll get for this policy. Will I get any bonus also?
Also what is the procedure for asking surrender value for this policy.
Thanks a ton in advance.
Answer: Hi Vijaya,
You can register your policy at:
http://www.licindia.in/NewUserRegistrati…
You would need policy holder's name, date of birth, date of policy commencement etc. details.
On registering, you would get the details of accrued bonus. Ideally you should get this bonus amount plus significant percentage of your premiums paid.
However, it would be great to check the same with your agent.
Although, Jeevan Anand is a whole life policy, it's premiums are significantly higher (almost 40 % more) than normal endowment policy. If you wish to have insurance, then Term insurance may be best bet for you and for investments purpose, you can try PPF, NSC, MF etc.

Question: Who was the first United States commander to surrender to a foreign enemy? Just would like to know. For those that say Grant (answer i got from wiki) this is wrong he did not surrender to a foreign enemy.
Answer: Off the top of my head I believe we had ships captured during the war of 1812 and maybe the revolutionary war. This would seem to mean the commanders surrendered. I think the biggest would be when General Wainwright surrendered the Army in the Philippines to the Japanese during WWII.
Question: How did a white flag come to signify surrender? A white flag is, I think, universally recognized as a sign of surrender. What is the origin of this use of a white flag?
Thanks!
Yahoo wanted to put this in the Gay, Lesbian, Trannie section!
Cool, 3 answers in a row with the exact same Cut and Pasted info! lol
I don't necessarily "disdain" cut and paste, but I find it humorous that 3 people in a row pasted the same thing.
Answer: Flag of surrender or truce
The white flag is an internationally recognized protective sign of truce or ceasefire, and request for negotiation.
It is also used to symbolise surrender, since it is often the weaker military party which requests negotiation.
A white flag signifies to all that an approaching negotiator is unarmed, with an intent to surrender or a desire to communicate.
Persons carrying or waving a white flag are not to be fired upon, nor are they allowed to open fire. The use of the flag to surrender is included in the Geneva Conventions.
The improper use of a white flag is forbidden by the rules of war and constitutes a war crime of perfidy. There have been numerous reported cases of such behaviour in conflicts, such as fighters using white flags as a ruse to approach and attack enemies, or killings of fighters attempting to surrender by carrying white flags.
Many times since the weaker party is in a decrepit state, a white flag would be fashioned out of anything readily available, like a t-shirt or handkerchief. The most common way of making a white flag is to obtain a pole and tie two corners of a sheet of cloth to the top of the pole and somewhere in the middle.
Origin
The first mention of the usage of white flags to surrender is made during from the Eastern Han dynasty (A.D 25–220). In the Roman Empire, the historian Cornelius Tacitus mentions a white flag of surrender in A.D. 109. Before that time, Roman armies would surrender by holding their shields above their heads. The usage of the white flag has since spread worldwide.
Question: can a private security company require me to surrender my drivers licence in order to work in the building? I work as a technician in business meetings and trade shows in some hotels in San Francisco are requireing me to surrender my drivers licence in order to get a hotel tag to allow me to work in the hotel. Some hotels are running backround checks using my drivers licence information.
Answer: Require you to surrender it? No. They have no authority to do that.
They can "ask" you to, though, and if you choose to decline they can refuse to allow you into the building.
Running background checks is also both common and legal.
(To the person who asks "Why would they make you surrender it?" the answer is simple - to make sure you don't leave without checking out and returning the security badge. It's common practice at many secured faclities.)

Question: Can one negotiate a surrender of their home to the bank instead of continuing to pay their mortgage? I want to get rid of an alternative property that is a loser financially. I do not want to allow it to go into foreclosure b/c I will hurt my credit. I also do not have the patience to sell the residence. As such, can I surrender the residence to the lender and negotiate the price so that I lose as little money as possible? Thank you in advance for any assitance.
Answer: TJ... to be blunt.. even IF you surrender the home to the bank.. it's still a foreclosure on your credit...
as another poster said.. the bank has no interest in owning property... it honestly looks bad on their books....
Your best bet.. rent it out if at all possible.. put it on the market for sale with a good real estate agent or broker... OR find a real estate person to buy it from you....
Question: When did the British surrender Fort Ticonderoga to the Colonists? When did the British surrender Fort Ticonderoga to the Colonists?
Answer: On May 10, 1775
Question: Is it possible to surrender your property to the mortgage company? I'm from the UK. I would like to move quickly, but can't sell my house in time. One option is to surrender the property. Is this possible or legal?
Answer: Hi,
It is unlikely that your Mortgage lender will want to take voluntary repossession of your property. This normally only follows if arrears have accumulated. Also it would not leave you with a good credit rating with them and these organisations do share information.
From the sound of your question I do not think you would achieve your objective, even if they said YES (which they will not) as moving quickly infers that you wish to get your capital out to move on but once in possession interest will continue to accrue and you will receive no money from the lender until after they have sold your property.
If its speed and the proceeds from your house you are after then try lowering your sale price (if you do have it on the market).
Also speak to your lender they will (hopefully) give you some advise.
Good luck
Question: What is the difference between SURRENDER and SURRENDERING? SURRENDER MY LOVE or SURRENDERING MY LOVE
What is the exact meaning of both, and the difference ?
Many thanks in advance !
Answer: SURRENDER can be used as a noun (to describe an event), or as a verb. In your sentences, the word is used as a verb.
In the first case, it is used as a command; this is the sort of thing a guy would put on a special cake that he made for his girlfriend if he wanted her to marry him. "Surrender, my love, and be my wife...."
The second one would sound better as a lyric to a popular song: "I'm surrendering my love to you." It is a statement of fact, and NOT a command to another person. Commands do not use the -ING form of the verb.
Question: How much of a difference is there between foreclosure and Voluntary Surrender? My life has changed dramatically since I bought a double-wide 8 years ago in Virginia, and it will be foreclosed soon. I've tried selling, but I owe more than it's worth in this economy. The mortgage company is sending out a "voluntary surrender" form they have asked me to sign, saying it will speed up the foreclosure process. I don't think that's the only difference. What else could be different?
Answer: The voluntary foreclosure dramatically reduces the costs for the mortgage company and the time involved. That said, its a good time to negotiate a settlement that is in some way beneficial for you. Whether it be to stay in the home or to not report the foreclosure on your credit report. There is no difference in voluntary foreclosure or a formal foreclosure in terms of how it affects your credit report. Both will be view negatively by potential future lenders.
Question: Do People today understand the experience of the surrendering mother during the Era of Mass Surrender? The EMS period from WW2 to 1973... that would include everything prior to and including surrender or the termination of rights. It is not the adoption. Can it be understood by today's adopter or adopted adult ? Can it be understood by the general public? Would the graphic details of the methods used make it easier to comprehend?
Answer: Dear Sly,
I think many people today do not understand adoption at all, much less the atrocities and human rights violations that occurred during the EMS/BSE. Adoption has been "bastardized" from its original meaning/purposes into an industry cake covered in advertising/PR icing. Adoption has been promoted and "Disney-ized" for mass consumption.
Many people see adoption only as it is presented in the media (Juno, celeb adoptions, etc.) or the shiny, glossy ADS on agency websites or pamphlets. Public sex/reproductive education and programs are still sorely and sadly lacking in honesty and genuine assistance. Money has overtaken compassion and children have become commodities rather than people. The list goes on...
While there are some of us who are trying to educate ourselves and others on what really goes on/has gone on, our voices are often stifled or shouted over by those who gain from adoption as it stands. Unfortunately, their voices are often more well funded and widely heard than ours.
As to the EMS/BSE, I will never fully understand how people can be so wretched and cruel to one another as they were to these women and children. I can say that I can identify with some of the pain of the Mothers as I am a First Mother myself, but my mistreatment was different and therefore, I will never be able to truly know how it was. I imagine I would have died had I suffered that kind of inhumane treatment. My heart hurts thinking about how horrible it must have been for these women and girls. I have the utmost respect for these survivors of such cruel abuse and violation. I wish I could wave that magic wand we talk about on here so often...
The horrifying details of this shameful time in adoption history should be known. They are equivalant to the evidence of a public crime and everyone should know what really went on or they will be glossed over and forgotten and set us up to repeat history. (Those who do not know histroy...) I do feel that the details and effects of the EMS/BSE on its victims are comparable to the victims of the holocaust, slavery, eugenics, etc. People should never be treated like less than people...
I wish more people would take the time to learn about the history of adoption (history at all for that matter). I hope that all of the victims of the EMS/BSE (and every other humanitarian tragedy/injustice) are able to someday find a little peace. I hope that many of them, like youself will find the stregnth to speak out about their experiences. That they will never shut up until the majority understands and we can prevent anything like this from ever happening again.
I hope my answer makes sense. I get upset when I think about this subject - it tends to make me cry (I tend to internalize) and I get the things I want to say a bit scrambled. Sly, I have the greatest respect for you and appreciate your voice more than you know.

Question: How do I signal to the Blackjack dealer that I want to surrender? I know you wave your hand to stand, tap the table to hit, etc. How do I signal a surrender?
Answer: Use your thumb and index finger to form a gun, and shoot yourself in the head, with your "hand gun".
Question: can california issue a warrant to surrender your children if you are a resident of Nevada? My friend who lived in nevada had a pending dependency case in Californian. When she had her baby in Nevada, A california judge issued a warrant for her to surrender her baby to California CPS. Was this legal? And if she never saw the warrant how can she get proof of the warrant?
Answer: It sounds like an order, not a warrant. Either way, it is legal to issue it but it cannot be enforced in Nevada. Once she steps into California it can be enforced.
Question: How can we get the squirrels to surrender? I could not recruit enough men for the war for humanity against the squirrels and now our numbers are next to nothing. Morale is low and I don't know how much longer we can hold out. We need a way to get the squirrels to surrender.
Answer: We may not get them to surrender... But we can kill them! We need to get our hands on the Death Note. Then we can just write down "every squirrel in the world", and they will all drop dead! MUAHAHA......
OR, we could just kill the commander of their army. Then they will be too confused to do anything productive!
